10% off The Book Depository by Referring Friends

1110

I was just thinking of putting in a large book order with the strong dollar when low and behold the book depository started another 10% sale. It works like the last, in which you input the email of a friend (or any other email) and they get a coupon. If they use that coupon then you get one back

If you need to refer yourself (or send multiple invites) use the gmail trick by adding fullstops to your email

  • Oooo nice. Can have a look after exams finish in a week.

  • Aw, man! Why does this always happen riiiiight after I make a purchase? Had I waited a few hours, I could have saved 10%! facepalm

Kudos for posting this up! =D

Could maybe try sending them an email. Sometimes if you're quick you can get it cancelled before they send it (don't need to explain why - just ask if it's still possible/hasn't been sent). I've done this once or twice and they've been happy to do it.

      • T&Cs state "Vouchers cannot be retrospectively applied". Certainly worth a try though…pretty decent mob to deal with based on past experiences.

      • I could, but it's only $1.20 I'd be saving. Then again, that $1.20 could be used for more books … Meh. I'll let them have my $1.20 this time. I have a few coupons lined up to take advantage of this offer. shifty

  • So this could be applied to a whole order, not just one book? If so… Yay! :)

    • I'm 99% sure it applies to the whole order. Of course that does tend to make one order more book than ones needs. (looks sadly at the full box of unread books that seems to grow two books for every one I read)

    • Even if it did only apply for one book, you could just make multiple orders, one book per order. Shipping is free so it doesn't matter anyways :P

  • Interesting, unlike this time I didn't have to wait for a "friend"(me with another email) to order a book to get the second voucher. They kindly sent it to both the referrer and the referee this time.

One question, should I order quickly, or will the dollar stay high like it is?

    • Haha unfortunatly the dollar slipped a couple of cents over the past few days, it's now under parity again. But it should stay around 98-99 at the worse if not pick up again to parity by chrissy. (Stupid high unemployment rate dropping the aussie dollar)

trying to predict forex is for chumps.

      • The unemployment rate is higher because more people stared to participate in the job-market again, in reality there were more than 29.000 jobs added. Unfortunately the main newspapers only go for the bad and mis-inform everybody (See http://www.businessspectator.com.au/bs.nsf/Article/THE-DAILY…).

I know that's why the unemploy rate went up.
But traders don't see that and go off percentage points.

predicting the forex is a side effect of understanding your economy
what really is for chumps is not knowing how your country is doing and where it stands in the world

predicting the forex is a side effect of understanding your economy

No one and I mean no one can consistently predict forex trading even if you like to think you can.

If you can forecast which way the dollar will go even 50% of the time you are doing EXTREMELY WELL.

      • unemployment rate has nothing to do with the exchange market…

        • Unemployment has a lot to do with the exchange market
A high umemployment rate means a weak economy, and a weak economy means it's money isn't worth that much. There's more to it, but I cbb to explain it all on a sunday morning.

And for those wondering why the dollar has slumped all the way back to 98.50 is because china has curbed lending to try and slow down it's rapid expansion, meaning less raw materials is required from Australia, hence dollar drop.

As usual, check both .com and .co.uk for pricing. Looking at Jay-Z - Decoded, .co.uk is doing $31.27 vs $25.90 at .com

  • that;s good for my next year books

Use Booko.com.au to compare any of the books you are going to purchase - so simple and easy.
I can't recommend it highly enough!

    • Just checked booko out - looks great. Includes postage cost when it compares.

      • That's what makes it so brilliant!!

I put an order in this morning to bookdepository UK AND bookdepository US (both with the 10% discount - seperate codes though) because they had some books cheaper than the other site.

I loved book depository (UK and US) already so 10% off the price of the cheapest books worldwide is fabulous!

    • You should always check Booko.com before ordering a book. You can also keep your wishlist on the site which will be repriced whenever you log in later, so that you get the latest prices when you have a look at a book on the wishlist.

  • If you get a voucher for the UK site can it be used on the US site ? Or do we have to send out referees on both sites?

    • I believe you can (just tried it out and it seems to work). All you need to do is change the .com to .co.uk in the link (or vice versa).

  • Where do I input the code? When I click "pay by Paypal", it just asks me to log into my Paypal account and pay for it. There's no place to input the coupon.

Edit: Oops, I found it. How did I miss that?

    • Where is it?

      • Where? :)

EDIT: Oh it's next to the CHECKOUT button in your shopping cart. The trick is that it doesn't always appear — I am not entirely certain what causes it to appear/disappear — but it wasn't showing up in Firefox (but it was in Safari)

        • mine was directly above CHECKOUT, a little text box for Coupon Code, just before you press Pay by PayPal

  • The code next to checkout isn't showing up on Firefox or IE for me :(

    • Heh, that got me too. I think you need to actually click the link provided in the email. Then it should appear.

  • aw shucks, the prices have gone up.

  • cool! the gmail method is great! Thanks a lot!
