10% off Book Depository for 4 days.
Don't forget cash back!
Thanks for the tip!
Is there an exchange rate fee charged if I paid with Paypal/CC since prices will be in GBP?
Does the 10% off still work on the UK site?
On the full version of the site you can change the currency, though I was using a sterling account and paid in sterling.
Do you find that the origin of the publication is the cheapest place to purchase? Yesterday I purchased a book published in Australia and it was cheapest via the AU website. Today I purchased a book published in the US and it was cheapest via the US site… Nontheless thanks for the tip!
I have not looked in to it that much… originally I presumed the place of dispatch would be the main factor… ie they are just hiding the free delivery in the cost of the books based upon IP location rather than actual delivery destination.
Certainly not everything is cheaper in the UK, a few years back you did not need a VPN to check the other sites and I remember back then several things were cheaper in the USA.
Always compare prices using booko.com.au before ordering
I've found most of the time for books I want, Abebooks is the only site that beats BD. When I've made an order for items from either the UK or the US (with free postage) they then inform me I will have to pay ludicrous amounts to have it shipped to Australia. Which sites are good besides BD?
And sometimes the cheapest on Abebooks is from Bookdepository and is cheaper than on the BD website itself.
I find (for books I'm interested in anyway) Wordery is often best. Best price (inc P&P) on booko is almost always Wordery, Abe and/or BookDepository.
Like grips says, ALWAYS use booko first!
Thanks for link Pobman and grips. I always buy books from book depository but with thh booko.com.au, i realise there's cheaper prize somewhere.
Thanks again.
Sigh, just a few days after I ordered a book from them :-(
Ever since Amazon purchased them, I found they weren't as competitive in their pricing.
shock horror
thanks OP, picked up the gigantic version of The Stanley Kubrick Archives for a ridiculous $57.
listed for £60-odd on their UK site.
Odd, presume it was this one:
https://www.bookdepository.com/The-Stanley-Kubrick-Archives-…
Which lists as 29.24 on the UK site for me, which is less than $57.
then mistakes were made.
I don't mind messing up, still a great price IMO.
I can't help but remember this store as The Book Suppository…
Be filled with knowledge then?
You can't help "but" remember that, eh…
Is it cheaper to purchase this through British pounds or AUD?
Currency selection didn't matter (or has minimal effect). Use a VPN/proxy to appear like you are in UK makes some items cheaper though. They adjust pricing based on location. I assume it's to account for three 'free' shipping.
A quick xe.com comparison shows it's about $1 more expensive on an $50 AUD order if charged in GBP. YMMV so try first and see.
As for using a VPN, my UK-based VPN shows prices at $5 AUD to $10 AUD higher per book when on the VPN. On the $50 AUD order that would make it $65 AUD. So I'll be ordering directly.
Yeah I've noticed similar today. Maybe they changed their pricing scheme and Australia gets better pricing than UK now…
cashback from who?
nevermind, just saw icon link
Sorry I must be missing it, I can't find where to enter the discount code?
Last order I did was just over 30% cheaper ordering through the UK site, had to use a VPN to get those prices, compared with using my local Australian IP.. books were shipped from the same place still.
