beware though someone reported bootloop after a few months

        • +1

1 person. There have been a lot sold.

        • Ok thanks :)

        • @terrys: yeah but my LG g2 only bootlooped after 18 months. This is only around 12 months old isn't it?

        • I bought one on that deal it was ebay 20% off …..so not current ….great phone.

        • @terrys:

Google it. More than just me.

        • +1

@sabaramo: I did. I found no reports on reputable sites, a few short videos of people who are demonstrating all the symptoms of mild battery terminal contamination without any attempt to fix it and a few reports from about a year ago all leading back to one report with a dodgy cable.
Then again, I've only been doing internet searches since I figure out how to apply the switches in Archie, and my assessment is coloured with a working knowledge of the concept of multivariate statistical analysis and the concept of confirmation bias.
          Will some V20s die.
          Yes.
Do they appear to be doing so at a statistically greater rate than any other major manufacturers phones.
          No.
          Do they burst into flames?
          No.
          I'll stick with my LGs.

        • @terrys: Well said. My wife's G3 started bootlooping earlier this year, before I even knew LG had a reputation for it. I ordered a replacement OEM battery (removable batteries ftw), popped it in and the bootlooping stopped. Phone has been running great ever since, and it was replaced with a V20 from the Allphones deal a couple of weeks ago.

        • @ebosh:

          Good luck gents.

        • @sabaramo: eh, I bought local stock from a reputable retailer, and with a credit card that extends the warranty to 3 years so I'm pretty comfortable with my decision. Not sure I'd be 100% with a 12 month warranty and grey import though.

        • @ebosh: LG G4 Gray import from QD. Bootloop 13-14th month. Battery change and other popular heating and cooling did not help. Lucky QD replaced it even though it was past 12mths.

  • Delivery between 14-21 days?
DWI got mine to me from Hong Kong in 4!
Still, that wasn't a local phone for local people…

    • +2

Yes DWI is quick with delivery and great price but when it comes to RMA, be very very patient. Not buying from them again! Sticking with Aus stock and warranty.

      • Yep, I took a punt on LG not daring to put out another lemon:-)It is a niiiiice phone. Local is usually best, but the local G6 that JB are selling down @ $699 doesn't come with the quad DAC - something a lot of punters won't think to ask about. At least the local V20 is the Dual SIM version.

    • mine arrived from DWI very quickly ….. local ….. sometimes the right postage from Asia is faster than Australia post on the cheap.

      aussie charger is a bonus.

and if you can't walk into the store and be vocal e.g live in rural australia, the support hassles are the same….. 700 kms vs 2000 kms no face to face store front.

      • The biggie is LG warranty. With DWI, your like me with their one year warranty, and if you do get the dreaded boot-loop after that, you have no come-back, whereas your warranty would be a 2 year one with LG with an Australian sourced one, hence phunkdude and sabaramo's concerns and caveat …

Alternatively buy it here for an extra $39:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162695684297

Delivered ~6x quicker, Australian business, Australian stock, 24 months Australian warranty…

    • And go through cashrewards for another $5 off.

    • But.. but - all the other local stock phones come with a charger adaptor as well..
[/s for the slow on the uptake]

I bought the V20 at Top Ryde JB yesterday for $449 matching the recent offer from Mobileciti. 10รท more for peace of mind of local warranty.

  • Shopmonk's Singapore-based, right? So do the Singapore RMA centers honour warranties from Shopmonk?

  • +2

I got mine from Mobicity(AllPhones) Ebay in less than 24 hours, AU Stock with Prezzy

  • +2

Local import is such an oxymoron… Judy like genuine imitation….

Great phone but I highly recommend you buy genuine local stock from mobile Citi or Allphones for a little bit more.

    • depends on the saving ….. $50 buy local get quicker, aussie, english voice for support for the cost of 1 slab of beer

$100 …. hmm buys 2 slabs of beer savings …..

slabs of beer, the new eneloop of currency.

  • might arrive before christmas 2018

  • Does anyone know where can i get (or at least see what it looks like) a v20 in Sydney?

I think I saw one at the JB Hi Fi near QVB on the weekend. Worth a call to check (I may be confusing it with the G series though).
