Michel Thomas Language Books $19.99

The Michel Thomas Method draws on the principles of instructional psychology. Knowledge is structured and organised for the student so that you assimilate the language easily and don't forget it. The method deconstructs the language into building blocks that are introduced sequentially in such a way that the learner creates his/her response and moves on to ever-more-complex sentences.

Used Michel Thomas to learn French, highly recommended!

  • I tried a Dutch CD for Michel Thomas from the local library. Quite a good start for conversation but it was only volume 1 in a series - you'd need a box set to build any sort of fluency.

I'm not really a fan of Lonely Planet but for the price, with a map and list of top things to do, maybe. I found some fancy eateries in Buenos Aires that way - but beware, you won't necessarily find too many locals.

The pocket guides are great - good map, lots of interesting places you probably wont find in other books (even the big lonely planet books) plus it (almost) fits in your pocket.
RRP is around $20 but usually I get via booko for around $11 - this is a great price.
If you search on the lonely planet website it will tell you the date of the current edition, plus the date when the next edition is planned for release.
I wonder which ones they will stock?
