    Best price at the moment!!

Just to correct OP's claim, the cheapest ever was $549 pickup for a GTX 1080 at Centre Com https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/309783 and $404 for GTX1070 at MSY https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/284404. Due to the mining boom I doubt we could see these prices again.

    • -1

      oh i missed that :(

fixed OP to best price at time of posting

    • +10

Those deals were price errors, no one in the threads confirmed they got the cards.

It took MSY weeks to refund me on the 1070 deal also.

    • Due to the mining boom I doubt we could see these prices again.

      I disagree with this.
Ethereum is reducing the block reward, and the difficulty is rising.
I'm currently scaling down my mining operation as are many other miners.

      • I got neg'd for mining <3

        • Probably because you and the likes of you have wrecked it for us hopefully it goes completely bust

        • +3

@ABUKEE: Yes, lets all stay in the present and not try and push forward with technology - great idea.

The fact that blockchain technology allows average joe's to actually get involved and reap some rewards should be lauded, rather than the people involved picked on for "increasing the price of cards".
Think of the bigger picture here…

The people didn't cause the price increase, the companies not willing to meet the demand caused that.

        • +1

@ABUKEE: I hope it all goes bust as well, so I can buy the dip :)
Also, do people go around negging landlords for locking us out of the property market?

        • @ABUKEE: You are a child complaining the world is unfair because things don't go exactly the way you want it. I don't mine, but I think its great that new ideas crop up and people give it a go.

        • +2

          @FabMan:

Mininng was just invented so kids could steal money from their mum and dads purse via the powerbill.

It has no material benefit for this earth. Its appalling frankly.

        • +1

@Wallyt99: Just because you don't understand something doesn't make your assumptions anywhere near close to reality.

        • +1

@ABUKEE: You call other people idiots for trying something a little different, yet your post barely make sense. You blame the data miners for the reason prices are going up on GPUs, yet have you considered that the manufacturers should have produced more products? On top of that you are laughing at the idea of other peoples misfortune, so you seem far from a top person to me.

        • +2

@FabMan: please enlighten me then all I could find was this from an expert on financial management… "Howard Marks of Oaktree Capital Management stated in 2017 that digital currencies were "nothing but an unfounded fad (or perhaps even a pyramid scheme), based on a willingness to ascribe value to something that has little or none beyond what people will pay for it"

        • -3

@FabMan: not about being a good person its the truth change ur name to Fibman suits u better talking all sort's of s**t why should the manufacturers make double triple products just in case some bored ppl might buy them on some fantasy to be rich all the miners faults I hope the government makes it illegal asap

        • +1

@ABUKEE: Okay you are a troll or an idiot, I do not want to talk to you any more.

        • @Wallyt99: You obviously did very little research and you do not want to learn what it really is for, but rather find quotes that support your assumptions. Like flat earthers or anti-vaxxers do, well done.

As for quoting Oaktree Capital Management, financially, digital currencies prevent them from getting their % on it, so it is no surprise they aren't fond of it.

          Start with Wikipedia:

Damn miners, is that even profitable these days?

      • It's still profitable if you have the gear. IMO, you'll never get ROI if you buy a GPU for mining today.

        • Yeah it’s totally still profitable at the moment. Ethereum Block reward dropped but Block time dropped more just recently so profitability has increased again as of a few days ago. The difficulty bomb has been postponed for another 18 months as well. Plus bitcoin gold is about to fork from bitcoin and will employ the Equihash algorithm which is very GPU mineable. Especially with nvidia cards.
The real risk to miners is that the value of bitcoin finally tumbles. At this point, that looks like the most likely thing which could end mining profitability for small timers.

I can see why gamers are so annoyed with miners. Miners buy cards (even at inflated prices) and the market responds by jacking prices up.
However that’s over now, ~4 months of inflated prices and now you can get a 1070 for <$500. Not that I’d recommend doing so with the 1070 Ti about to release.
So, can we all get along again? The used market will flood sooner or later and you’ll all be able to buy cheap cards with buggered fans! Oh wait

  • Is inno3d a reliable brand? Thinking of getting one.

    • oops, wrong model.

  • Would these cards be able to do triple monitor setup?

    Edit: I realise it can.

Another question. How much of an upgrade over GTX 970 (4GB). I watch sports via browser, and it often stutters.

    • Would be a decent upgrade over the 970 for sure but you won't benefit from it that much unless you are a gamer wanting to play games at 4K etc…

Regarding stuttering maybe its the internet lagging (or even the video player on the website?). Don't think it's an error because of the graphics card but yea hard to tell without actually seeing it.

    • +3

Stuttering when watching something in browser is not going to be due to your 970 not having enough grunt. I'd be making sure that your browser, browser plugins, and video drivers are up to date. Could even just be your internet connection causing the issues.

    • If all you do is watch sports then i doubt these GFX cards will help. This sounds more like a CPU issue if youre watching in high resolutions?

      • I dont exclusively watch sports, I game a bit. But no issues with gaming.

    • Regarding the stuttering, before upgrading your GPU I would recommend:

      • Try installing and using a different browser, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox for example.
      • Make sure your browsers are up to date, any unnecessary browser apps are removed.
      • Uninstall any unnecessary Windows applications, and make sure you do not have two anti-viruses programs running. Be careful not to uninstall Microsoft .Net files
      • Install latest graphics drivers, selecting Clean Installation.
      • Trying CCleaner.
      • If you are on Wi-Fi, try wired for a while to see if Wi-Fi is the issue.
      • Upgrading your internet speed with your provider.
      • Replacing your HDD with a SSD.
      • Increasing the amount of RAM you have.
      • Upgrading your CPU if you have an old system.
      • I'd suggest its your codecs. Do some research use a media player with the best codecs for the stream you are using.

        • You should tell President Barlett.

    • +1

check your power options is not on power saving mode

    • My single 1080 does 2x 1440p 60hz, 1x 1440p 144hz monitors and 1x 1080p 60hz TV simultaneously without stutter

  • -2

pretty good for the 1080. i'd rather see a regular size aib 1070 for this price though, but ofc that's unlikely with mining

  • +1

Holy crap. With this sorta price makes me wanna go back to my desktop for gaming now.. Gathering dust whilst I am using my lappy more at home.. hmmm

  • I love 256Mb memory cards. Brings me back to the '90s

  • Damn I bought the fullsize gigabyte 1070 off these guys the other day - apart from physical size of the cards, is there much between them?

    • +2

The full size card will operate much cooler and quieter so unless you're restricted by available space the Gigabyte unit is better.

      • +3

And it will probably have less fan noise, if that is a concern.

  • Ah yeah, I guess so. Case space is no probs

  • Prices are coming down across the board for these it seems, I guess with 1070ti out in a couple weeks, the 1080 will become less desirable?

But that depends if pricing that the Ti is actually available at is reasonable!

    • Not even sure why the 1070Ti exists? Not a whole lot of difference $ wise between a 1070 & 1080 so anyone looking for more performance will just buy a 1080.

      • Lot of speculation I guess - Ti should be in between 1070/1080 pricing wise, but perform almost exactly like a 1080.
But imo pricing for it will end up being way higher in reality, making this a better option.

      • +1

It’s to compete with amd vega because vega’s performance fits somewhere in between

        • Yeah, but Vega draws more juice with only stock cooling option available for now..

  • Can we claim TRS for this VGA card?

    • Yes

      • Great ! thanks. This makes the price even tempting. I'm gonna take the plunge.

        • Just remember you can be asked to show you have it with you in hand luggage by a TRS agent!

    • +1

Taking a video card with you on holidays? Now I've seen it all

    • Make sure you are issued a tax invoice. Ebay does not.

  • thanks got the sd card..

  • Interesting that PC Byte and Gaming City are the same company

Gaming City is 739 and PC Byte 795 for same item.
But only PC Byte has 20% off..

  • Got the SD card. Thanks!

  • Is it worth the extra money to get a gigabyte g1 1080 over the inno3d 1080

  • Price has been jacked on the sd card now :(

  • +1

Just got a call from PC Byte; their listing for the "Inno3d GTX 1080 8GB Gaming OC" was incorrect. It should have been "Inno3D GeForce GTX 1080 X2 8GB" however both listings have the correct model number N1080-1SDN-P6DN. The updated listing does not have an overclocked card.

    • +1

I got this email too. From what I can see, main difference is the size (X2 is slightly shorter), and boost core speed (1733/1847). I'm still happy to go ahead with mine.

      • Yup me too, continue with my order

  • Destiny 2 claimable with the Inno3d 1080?

  • Anyone bought the MicroSD card from here? I just received mine, and I did test on the card using 2 programs - 1 using h2testw and another using speedout v0.5 - both read about 40 to 45 and write about 40

    half of what is advertised?

    Any suggestion?
