Xiaomi ZMI Power Bank - Type-C 20000mAh Capacity Dual USB Output Bidirectional Quick Charge

Managed to get a great price for this popular USB-C Powerbank, however the coupon code is only good for 80 uses so most likely won't last long. About $7 cheaper than the previous deal, see there for discussion. Also includes free priority shipping (Priority Line 5 - 10 business days).

Select AUD on the Gearbest site and pay AU $50.89, Gearbest's exchange rates are slightly less than the current USD > AUD rate so no need to pay in USD.

  • can anyone tell me if it will charge a surface pro 4

  • Will it post to nz?

Also keep getting system busy error after the shipping address screen

  • I've lost my laptop charger, to replace it is similar price to buying one of these.

Is it OK to use this as a permanent charger for my laptop using the pass through technology?

  • Even with incognito I can't get the code to work.

    • Are you getting the Systems busy error too?

      • I get:

The Code you entered has expired.
Code for single unit price only; VIP Price, Special Offer or Group Deal all exempt.
Click here to cancel coupon code

But I've not used it yet :(

  • Thanks OP, purchased.

  • Works for me still

  • Thankyou!! Was on the look out for a new power bank, perfect timing.

  • I think it didn't work for me as my cart had something else in it, so I had to do it again and maybe now it thinks I've used it.

Really been wanting to get one of these :(

    • +1

Make sure you haven't already purchased it in 'my account' > 'Orders', if you have you just need to pay for the order as you can't use the code a 2nd time as you mention.

If that isn't the issue, create a new account on a different IP address (eg use your mobile) and purchase it again.

      • Thanks hamza, legend. I checked Orders and it wasn't there so I did end up creating another account and got one.

        • Good to hear. Glad you got one in the end :)

  • Does this have standard USB connection

    • +1

      2 x USB A and 1 x USB-C ports.

      Output: USB-C: 5 - 20V, 40W max | USB-A: 5V 2.4A, 9V 2A, 12V 1.5A, 18W max

      Video

  • So finally expired?

  • not working for me :(

  • Goddamnit - I should've checked 30 minutes ago

    • Available again with OZB10125 if you are quick (only 30 available)

  • @hamza23 reckon you can get any more?
I was comparing this to the Powerbank 2… expired by the time I made a decision!

  • got in on second batch- can't wait to have one of these for my hp g1 chromebook. time to properly move to USB-C esp now with a portable charging hub! hate having to carry power plugs around (which i dont but then u always face an issue later in day) thx for the deal OP !
i assume also as per this post u can't have these in carry-on luggage ? is check on luggage same ? thx :)

    • I always take my 30,000mAH batty as carry-on

    • I had a 10000mAh powerbank in my check in bag and was asked to migrate it to my cabin bag.

Seems kinda counter intuitive right, but really, better to explode in the cabin and have humans around to put it out than for it to blow up where theres no one around

  • any updates on anyone's orders? mines still on processing

    • Got an email it had been dispatched on October 15.

    • Still waiting… Friday is the 10th business day so hopefully it arrives soon

      • Don't hold your breath. I ordered something from them and selected AU Express 5-8 business day shipping 17 days ago. Hasn't even left China yet.

      • Got notification something is being delivered today, I think it might be this.
Last Xiaomi 10000mah powerbank I bought from Gearbest arrived in around the same time.
Will confirm when I get home tonight.

  • @hamza23 can we get another code :'(

    • +1

I've just heard back from Gearbest, they only have 38 left in stock. They are waiting for a shipment to come in for 1000 more units.

However they've agreed to do a code for 30 more units for now for the same price. Here are the details:

      OZB10125
      price:AU$51.15/US$39.99
Valid for 30 uses only, 1 per account, must be on AU/NZ IP address.

Be quick, let me know if any problems.

      • It worked !!!!!
I had GearBest credit and only had to pay $11.19 AUD !

        THANK YOU!!!!!

        • You're welcome :)

      • Hey Hamza, code seems to be expired, any idea when the new shipments will be in?

  • I would love one of these but after seeing some of the USB-PD catastrophes, I only buy stuff now that's been reviewed by Nathan K. If he lived in Oz, I'd just order stuff straight to his house, he could test it, then I'd pay him to send it on to me :)

  • Thanks Hamza. Got one and it went through fine.

    Cheers

    Thanks HAMZA

  • English manual here Thanks kathmandu-jeff

  • Thanks hoping it will charge my Dell Laptop - let us see..

  • Does anyone know if the USB cable is reliable on these or do I have to buy a better quality one elsewhere?

  • can anyone tell me what's the difference in ZMI vs Xiaomi PowerBank? Just so that if the deal comes next time around, i know whether to go for it or not? can't find much on google regarding the differences

    • I believe the ZMI has USB-PD, the powerbanks don't. Meaning it has faster output speeds and can possibly charge laptops.

    • The main thing compared to other xiaomi power banks is the USB Type C output. If you don't ga ensure Type C devices then you don't need this. What sets the ZMI apart from other Type C power banks is that it can also charge more power hungry devices like the Nintendo switch or laptops.

  • Mine arrived today. Firstsies ? Anyone else got theirs? 12 days, which is faster than half my stuff from the US

    • Got mine today as well.. that was quite fast for gearbest.

  • +1

I just got mine today, too.

the packaging box says a couple different mAh readings, one of which is 20,000. but the actual xiaomi ZMI box has no mention of 20,000 mAh the highest value is 12,000mAh. It does say ZMI 10 QB820 though

Can anyone confirm this is correct?

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/Amy5laVIn40E9gBB2

edit: opened it up and there's a large 20000 on the thing itself so should be good.
What do all the other mAh values mean, though?

    • It does not charge a Dell XPS 15 9550 at all. Dell restricts the low Wattage.

    • +1

      Got mine today as well.

Same as you, big 20000 written on the product, but 12000mAh 5V listed as the specification.

Most (if not all) powerbanks list the mAh rating based on 5V. So i would say that 12000mAh is its true capacity and the "20000" is just some marketing ploy.

Further more to this, I cannot find any link between Xiaomi and this "ZMI" company on the Xiaomi website.

      • +1

I would say the opposite, most powerbanks list it based on 3.7v.

I have Anker, Xiaomi, Sony etc and they're all 3.7v with 5v listed in smaller writing on the actual powerbank itself.

        • Ahhhh seems you're right.

Starting to make a bit more sense then.

Dont feel soo bad for this purchase.

          Thanks mate.

    • Comparing this product to the ROMOSS Sense 4 i got a few years back.

      ROMOSS Sense 4
Capacity: 10400mAh 3.7V [edit, thought it was 5V]
      Weight: 280g
      Price: $22

      ZMI 10
      Capacity: 12000mAh 5V
      Weight: 400g
      Price: $45

  • Anyone authenticated your ZMIs yet?

I also picked up another 2 x Powerbank 2 10000mAh, and successfully authenticated here

But for the ZMI, the way the code is printed on the sticker is different. One long line of numbers(20 digits) for the Powerbank 2, versus 4 stacked rows of 5 numbers per row for the ZMI.

Using the ZMI code on the link I posted wont work. Keeps saying to check number.

Am gonna try another link as soon as I can get someone that can write in chinese (anti bot verification section I think)

    • What is the second code you’re supposed to enter? (10 digits)

All the instructions / videos seem to be for a different site, which only has the one code to enter.

Edit: oh there is one of those website security codes…it just wasn’t showing up on iPad.

  • Correct site to authenticate is here

It's in chinese but it's easy to do :-

Punch in the 20 digit authentification numbers. Left to right, start from top row.

Then click on the left tab thats PURPLE. Right side tab is to reset.

    Mine checks out.

    • Ah cheers!

      您所查询的是江苏紫米电子科技有限公司生产的产品,是正牌产品的标识,感谢您的使用。

You are inquiring about the products produced by Jiangsu ZiMi Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., is the logo of genuine products, thank you for your use.

      I assume it's genuine…cheers!

      1. Why is this ZMI site by Jiangsu and not Xiamoi's site? Complete different website to Xiaomi, not sure why they wouldn't use their own.

      2. Suspicious because this Powerbank is longer and larger than the white non UBC Xiaomi 20,000 mah powerbank I also have.

      3. Also wondering why the box it comes in says 12000 mah.

        1. “The Mi Power Bank devices are produced by Jiangsu, China-based Zimi Corp., one of the startups backed by Xiaomi.” Not sure why they didn’t still use Xiaomi verification (assume it was just easier to do it through Jiangsu ZiMi to reduce double handling), but hopefully the site is a legit Jiangsu ZiMi site.

        2. It’s a completely different product, so why do you expect it to be the same length??? Not only does it offer USB-C, but it has USB Power Delivery - that is probably going to require more components to be squeezed in, so I would be shocked if it WASN’T larger!

        3. Explained above. 20,000mah is the rated capacity of the actual battery cells inside - this rating is at 3.7V, the voltage of the internal cells. 12,000 is the rated capacity once converted to 5V - this is the actual “usable” capacity once converted to 5V, the standard voltage of USB. It’s a marketing thing: https://blog.banggood.com/the-secret-marketing-trick-behind-…

  • Hey if anyone can answer this it would be great:

  • Maybe ZMI is a sub brand of Xiaomi?

    • No mention of Xiaomi anywhere on the website.

      • -1

Many major Chinese brands like xiaomi doesn't manufacturer their items. They simply rebrand the items they sell just like Belkin and Swann.

        • -1

Precisely. This isn't even branded Xiaomi let alone manufactured Xiaomi. Basically, its not Xiaomi. This deal is very misleading.

        • -1

          @nicksinternet:

This isn't even branded Xiaomi let alone manufactured Xiaomi.

iphones are manufactured/assembled by foxconn (hon hai precision industry co. ltd) with components sourced from countless other companies. should we stop calling them apple iphones and instead refer them as foxconn iphones?

        • @whooah1979:

They are sold and branded Apple. Stupid comparison, not the same thing.

These are not sold and branded by Xiaomi, at all. Deal is posted as Xiaomi.

        • @nicksinternet:

xiaomi have grown in the past few years beyond what we know them to be famous for. mainly smart phones, tv and routers. they started to vc in start-ups about three years ago, perhaps earlier. it's unclear how many companies they've invested in, but one report puts that number to be at least 55 companies back in 2016. this includes zmi corporation.

        • @whooah1979:

Understood, but its not the problem.

The product is not Xiaomi. Hence why they do not brand it as such.

  • I am confused. Is this product really 20000mah or not?

    • Is this product really 20000mah or not?

It is. 20000mah @ 3.7v or 3.85v depending on the batteries inside.

  • Finally has arrived and works!

Should be able to hand carry on plane too. Not check-in though.
Except at Beijing and Dubai from a QA on whingepool…
