The Firebiner, as seen on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, is now available in Australia at Tomtek Outdoors.

Never leave home without this innovative Survival tool.

The Firebiner is the ultimate EDC survival tool; due to its size, weight and sheer capabilities. It may seem like any ordinary carabiner at first, but integrated in its design is a flat screwdriver; safety blade(for cutting seatbelts, rope, fishing line, etc.); a bottle opener; and a firestarter - with EverSpark technology.

This is the most convenient and practical tool to take with you when camping, hiking, trekking…or simply just an everyday handy key holder, with a life saving purpose.

For a limited time only, we are offering an Introductory 25% Discount to OzBargain members.

  • So I was trying to understand the design and the fire wheel uses a "ferro rod" to apply friction to the wheel to create sparks.
It seems odd that you need a tool to adjust the ferro rod on a survival tool as the rod is the part that wears down…

    • Hello Deadalready,
The Ferro Rod is fed inside the Firebiner and is spring loaded, held by a stopper screw. It is pushed towards the wheel and creates the needed spark when sparked. After multiple uses, the ferro rod wears down and can be tensioned again or replaced through the screw with a small screwdriver (which is also available in the accessory kit)…similar to zippo lighters.

Rest assured, you won't need to adjust it on a regular basis (probably once only per ferro rod). The one I have started 3 bonfires and multiple stove light ups and still didn't need to be adjusted.

Sooooo, it’s a belt/bag clip with a sparkler on one end. Totally innovative. I’m no survival nut/outdoorsman, but I have seen for more useful survival tools. This is just a water bottle/gear holder with a striker on one end.

For a similar price, the Nomad Survival Tool looks like it has more features.

For a similar price, the Nomad Survival Tool(kickstarter.com) looks like it has more features.

That thing is huge, bigger all round than my Gerber Multi-Pliers.

      • Like knuckleduster sized?

      Hello pegaxs,
I checked out your link and that seems like a good product…though after I factored in the shipping (at $30) it does become quite expensive. I'll try to get in touch with the manufacturer, as they might have better wholesale pricing.

The Firebiner also has a safety blade (good for cutting paracord, even seatbelts) and a nice flat screwdriver (I was quite surprised how many times I already used mine actually), apart from the Firestarter and bottle opener.

The top reason I like the Firebiner is I actually am obliged to carry it since it houses my car and house keys! I have a few other EDC survival tools which I admit, outperforms it at every aspect; but I always end up leaving them at home or in my car due to their size and lack of regular use.
