Infinity Telco NBN Lightning Classic 100/40 Unlimited $85/Month inc VoIP Phone Bundle Save $50 Setup Fee No Contract

Plan details here: https://infinitytelco.com.au/nbn/classic/

For those asking about contention ratios I asked and apparently all of the entry level plans (legacy) are the classic product.

After asking Optus to match their Cable plan price on NBN HFC and being sorely disappointed and being let down by BuzzTelco customer service and seeing their network fail, I decided to look elsewhere. Sorting from the top on Productreview I found Infinity Telco rated 4.8/5! https://www.productreview.com.au/p/infinity-telco.html. Some of their website is under redevelopment but the important pages are up.

I asked for a promo code for myself to bring it down $5 per month and half the setup fees. I can now share it with Ozbargainers! I was able to get $85/month for VOIP phone and unlimited internet bundle with no contract and Unlimited Quota. Also most importantly the support is local based in Sydney!

Here is their description:
As fast as you can get. Perfect for large families, gamers, computer nerds and anyone who craves speed!
Unlimited Download Quota
Up to 100Mbps Download Speeds
Up to 40Mbps Upload Speeds
Optimised for video streaming
Free VOIP home phone (new number)
$50 Setup fees

Heh its a good price but its hard to stomach knowing I missed out on the $79 per month 1000 of there other customers are on ;)

    • Yeah they had that deal when they started up I noticed some people on Whirlpool talking about it.

  • A quick look at the site doesn't sound good. Classic, Gold & Platinum?? Paying for different contention ratios by the looks of it (no info listed under Contention Ratios page). So basically, if on low tier (Classic) there is prob a high change of congestion and speed slow downs in peak times.

    • Looking at reviews and the previous threads on Ozbargains and Whirlpool speed-tests were pretty impressive IMO.

      • Until they get more customers and over sell more. The worrying part is that they neglect to put any information on the contention ratio (oversell ratio) page. For example in simple terms, if the contention ratio is 50:1. So we have 50 customers paying for 100/40 connection, those 50 customers are all sharing an actual 100/40 connection, the ISP just preys that those 50 users are not all going to be hammering the connection all the time (which they would just say is against FUP and prob disconnect you).

        • @Levity:

Well then I guess at the moment I agree, they have good feedback on those plans

        • @Levity: pardon my ignorance, but what does that actually mean? Thanks

        • Scroll down to the chat about the contention ratios. Previously Infinity had only the classic product and now they are redeveloping the website and offering lower contention ratios. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contention_ratio

      • Actually hes dead on. Until they update their contention rstios page you have no idea what you are buying.

Also most of those positive comments in the whirlpool thread are from people on the legacy $79 plan. Does that have the same contention ratios as the classic? I dont know.

I'll ask and let you guys know.

@Levity: I just did online chat with them. Apparently site will be updated b the end of the day.

        • Yeah his support is pretty quick. Let me know any other info you find out.

          @Levity:
Just saw that the contention ratios are listed on the home page, scroll down about half way, listed under 'Featured Plans'.

Edit: Classic is 1:50 (which is pretty standard from what I understand).
Gold is 1:39, and Platinum is 1:25.

        • @dheywood:

Interesting. I wonder what impact that actually has if you assume that the people who choose to spend more for a lower contention ratio may also be more likely to be downloading/uploading more than those on the cheaper plans. Rather than paying for a specific contention ration, I would personally prefer to pay for a guaranteed higher minimum bandwidth and let the provider manage balancing users….

Ahh contention ratios, nothing like the government spending $70billion+ on the nbn, charge out the arse for plans, only for congestion to make it (profanity) pointless.

Similar to the last deal that was unpublished, this trader also operates as connectbroadband abn 45 616 623 824

By whirlpool posts the last collection of early adopters where offered higher prices to keep the contention ratio or they could stay on congested plans that would not have links upgraded for the bargain price. At least this time it is $85 pm which will be more sustainable than $79pm but not quite up to the $99pm that was the upgrade to keep decent contention ratios.

Along with the cookie cutter website, failure to quote the abn except in the terms and conditions (at least they corrected that and got it right this time), and links to nowhere, buyer beware.

I had a look at them on whirlpool, they appear to be a one man band and their main thread has a lot of negative comments from people getting screwed over the previous cheap deal, the website being dodgy and having incorrect info and other indicators to me that they are a very small operation and quite a risky proposition.

Moved to these guys after Buzz issues. Can vouch for good speeds at all times (in Perth on FTTP)

  • Telecube whirlpool plan is $69/mth 1000Gb/5000Gb
and you can use their PAYG Voip (face it, landlines are for incoming calls from oldies & scammers).

personally I steer clear of unlimited, as it tends to be over subscribe especially by those who abuse it and you get that peak time congestion everyone is talking about.

After asking Optus to match their Cable plan price on NBN HFC and being sorely disappointed

Yes isn't that a cracker. you can trade your unlimited calls, fetchTV package, 100down/2up (at 3am) for some unlimited calls, basic fetchTV package, 25down/5up for $10/mth more! The disconnection team wondered why I laughed at them.

  • $0 setup fee would have been nice….
According to my own research, this come at 4th place in order of price low to high… unless the quality of service is so good.

  • Does the price keep going monthly for 85 bucks once code is applied?

    • +1

      Yes it's recurring $85/month.

      • Fantastic might sign up :)
