  • Nice. So that will handle 5.1.2, and HDMI 2.2. High power per channel

    • +1

      Actually this will do 7.1.2

Have a look at the speaker outputs on the back, 9 channels powered but the height channels are likely to be much less power.

      • Hmm yeah. Very odd how they market it and specify it.

I'm doing my room design now and anything other than 5.1.2 just seems so unbalanced. Like even with 5.1.2 I have 4 speakers close to my head and the most important speakers furthest away. I can understand many more speakers in a theatre but not a medium domestic room.

      • Its actually 7.1 or 5.1.2, as the 2 other channels will the ceiling speakers

  • +1

    Nice price. So tempting. :-/

    • Yeah. I'll be in the market for a new receiver as I'm finally building my movie room, and had decided on 5.1.2 based room size, so this hits the spot. I'm so used toward like only though I'll have to read the manual to see if it will end ok

  • Does Google cast mean Chromecast audio?

    • Google Cast
The SC-LX501 has Google Cast, the same
technology behind Chromecast built-in, so you
can use your mobile device to cast your favorite
music, radio, or podcasts to your speaker. You
can control the audio from anywhere in the house using Cast-enabled
apps running on your personal device—iPhone, iPad, Android phone
and tablet, Mac and Windows laptop, and Chromebook. Discover
      Cast-enabled apps at g.co/cast/audioapps.
      * Google Cast will be available with future firmware update.

  • Anyone know good a good speaker set for this for cheap?

  • +2

I bought one of the early cheap Chinese class d portable amplifiers about 10 years ago that cost £25 and ran on batteries. It sounded just as good as my £1500 Orelle amplifier. It was at that moment that I realised how much snake oil there was in hifi. It's great to see them now putting these cheap amps in expensive looking boxes and selling them for a fortune to unsuspecting buyers.

Great features. Not a huge fan of the Class D sound though.

  • +1

What is Class D exactly (in which way does it sound different)? Would this be exactly the same as the models sold here? And warranty? Thanks

  • Does anyone know whether this receiver supports Dolby Vision passthrough? The datasheet specifies HDR10 only but says nothing about Dolby Vision.

  • Also only 3 HDMI inputs support HDCP 2.2

  • +1

Costco have a similar system Onkyo Dolby Atmos Enabled System. Onkyo 7.1/5.1.2 system (HT-R494) including Speakers (HT-S5805) for $999
