    its JUNK!

Terrible junk. Don't buy it. Poor sound, poor controllers and emulated. It's not made by Sega

I picked up a PS3 copy of Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection at an op shop yesterday for the grand price of $2. Includes over 40 games (some extras unlockable from Master system as well apparently although unsure if need to pay to unlock or via achievements).

If you are interested in MegaDdrive stuff, have a PS3 or Xbox 360 then it's probably worth trying to search out a copy on ebay or something.

The downside is there is no scanline emulation feature, bit of an oversight I reckon as that would make it look much more like the original. MAME with HLSL scanline effects looks a hell of a lot better in my opinion. If you dont know what HLSL is for Mame, have a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikcfyt6ajPI to see the effect (its quite configurable so you can change it to your liking, decrease jitter, convergence etc)

Games included on the PS3 version are:

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
    Alien Storm
    Altered Beast
    Beyond Oasis
    Bonanza Bros.
    Columns
    Comix Zone
Decap Attack starring Chuck D. Head
    Dr. Robotnik's MBM
    Dynamite Headdy
    Ecco the Dolphin
Ecco II: The Tides of Time
    E-SWAT
    Fatal Labyrinth
    Flicky
    Gain Ground
    Golden Axe I
    Golden Axe II
    Golden Axe III
    Kid Chameleon
    Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
    Ristar
    Shining in the Darkness
    Shining Force
    Shining Force 2
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
    Sonic 3D Blast
    Sonic and Knuckles
    Sonic Spinball
    Sonic The Hedgehog
    Sonic The Hedgehog 2
    Sonic The Hedgehog 3
    Streets of Rage
    Streets of Rage 2
    Streets of Rage 3
    Super Thunder Blade
    Vectorman
    Vectorman 2

    • You’re absolutely right.

Find the PS2 or 3 versions and you’re good to go.

    • No Mortal Kombat :(

    • EB still sell this, I think for around 10 or so, at least it was when I picked up a copy a year or two back.

The PSP version is also pretty good, few different games, but I got a new copy from K-Mart for a dollar a couple years back and it's an absolute blast. Really puts the Sonic DS collection I have to shame.

      • Seems to be $24 on their website for both PS3 and Xbox 360 version (preowned). 360 version not compatible with Xbox one unfortunately from what I've read.

Probably cheaper to find a copy on ebay.

Edit: I wonder how these console versions look hooked up to an old 4:3 CRT TV?

        • I don't know, but in terms of modern ports, the PS2 Genesis Gems collection thing on a CRT 10 odd years ago didn't look any better really than the PS3 copy did on a 55inch 1080 panel.

    Complete rubbish
Nothing like hd Nintendo NES Mini as that was made by Nintendo. These Sega consoles are made by AT Games which equals rubbish on soo many levels

Wait till Sega get off their a** and make a retro console themselves

  • Agreeing with others here, not worth the materials it's made from.

  • These were $30 before the hype of the NES classic. I have one of these and the portable Genesis and they both emulate horribly.

    • Glad I'm not tripping.

I swear I saw the portable one of these for 25 in Big W years back.

  • Wait for the HDMI equipped model!
