Have had one of these for a few months now. Can recommend.

Have had one of these for a few months now. Can recommend.

It may help avoid disappointment if you went into some detail on what you have/haven't used it for.

The specs look nice, but for enthusiasts the S912 is probably considered to be the worst chip out there right now.

      • Doesn't play all that well with Kodi

      • LibreELEC literally warns people against buying devices with Amlogic S192

      • Only supports Widevine Level 3 meaning you get to enjoy Netflix in glorious 480p

      • Thanks kamoi the specs got me looking I must admit, will cool my heels now on this one.

      • Any idea what it's like running Android though?

I have a s905 beelink, its great for Libre but it's android was fairly grim. Lolipop and a horendous interface, plus x64 chip running x86 software. I thought about getting this just assuming that s912 > s908 and that Android might run better.

I assume Kodi running on Android wouldn't have the issues listed on Libreelec

      • you mean Amlogic S912 i assume

    • i have a mecool s912 2/16 and if runs fine i just run the std android 7.1.1 and use playstore.
this one might be nicer as it's 3/32 memory.

  • Is this good for streaming from nas? I have plex server on readynas 312 and lg tv with plex and xplay apps and chromcast 2 - lg tv connection is wireless with good signal still I have buffering issues with movies greater than 4-5gb using both apps and chromcast 2. Will the problem go away with this tv box. Any suggestions

  • I'd say that this is a better deal, with a more compatible unit:

    • but not if you want bluetooth.

This is my strong recommendation, I've had it 8 weeks and not missed a beat, even with Kodi 17.4 installed - The Tanix TX-5 Pro with amlogic s905x and has bluetooth, dual wifi and even HDMI/CEC control. Mosat importantly it has decent firmware with attractive and functional GUI, though I always instal Nova launcher from Google Play for it's superior functionality.

    • So to confirm, you have auto refresh rate changing working on that unit? What about bitsreaming?
      Does it support LibreELEC?
Why pay more for this unit?

      • It's sold as an Android box.

That said I don't see any reason why any s905x box can't be flashed with LibreELEC, something which doesn't interest me.

You pay for a Android box which has stable firmware, good build characteristics and hardware.

  • Just wondering if anyone knows if this (or any other android box on the market for that matter), will run off USB power? My old one is starting to fail…

    Thanks op, great price.

I also added this keyboard for $12. My last order from bg took close to 3 weeks. Hope this order, is on a faster plane :/
