Kangaroo Paws - $2 @ Lullfitz Nursery, Wanneroo WA

250

Lullfitz is a native plant nursery in Perth's northern suburb of Wanneroo. They have heaps of kangaroo paws (yellow, red, pink) for $2 per pot. Really good price - comparable at bunnings is $12. Several other things are really well priced, and I'm told there's a clearance sale next week too.

Yep, almost negged for cruelty; outrageous that they would chop a Kangaroo's hands off and sell them for $2!

Wouldn't happen to know how long they'll stay this price would you? Keen to get up there and buy a whole heap!

Till they're gone. Plenty of stock. Big clearance next week too (not sure when)

  • Are these in the seedling/forest tubes or in proper pots?

Proper pots (about 15cm wide opening). Mature, ready to plant.

  • Are these an alternative to pigs ears? My dog loves them ears!

    • There is a 'pigs face' plant you could try :)

On a serious note, great deal OP. This is the cheapest I've ever seen Kangaroo Paws in 20 odd years. Would grow great in WA where humidity is low. I've had them north of Sydney and sometimes they go great, other times succumb to the humidity and get a disease rot problem.

And these are yellow too not the more common red, so its a steal for that price. Even Bunning's starters cost more than this (which I've not seen Kangaroo Paws included in anyway).

Lucky I'm not over there, I'd broden this up and get 50 easy.

      • Thanks - I filled my ute, and going back for more tomorrow :)

  • FYI

The tubular flowers are coated with dense hairs and open at the apex with six claw-like structures: from this paw formation the common name "kangaroo paw" is derived. The plant was named after the shape of the flowers, which resemble to the paws of a kangaroo.
