The Wire, The Complete Series for $49.99 @ iTunes

280

I just noticed that The Wire (The Complete Series) in HD is currently discounted at $49.99 on the Australian iTunes store. If I remember correctly it normally sells for $99.99. Decent price for one of the best TV shows you can get.

Don't forget Cashrewards!

Note: if anyone is looking to complete their collection on iTunes, individual seasons of The Wire also appear to be discounted at the moment.

Thanks for the post. I'm wondering about your cashrewards comment though. I use it regularly, but aren't you better off getting 15% off with itunes cards than 5.6% with cashrewards?

    • You can use both, that's what I do. Total of 20.6% off.

I really miss the days of 20-30% iTunes gift card discounts…

  • When you buy shows off iTunes - do they expire and can you watch them off any device?

    Thanks!

Mostly just apple devices. Videos were encrypted once upon a time. Don't expire after you pay for it but zero guarantees on digital media

Movies and TV shows on iTunes use FairPlay DRM and are tied to your Apple ID account when purchased. If you "buy" them (as opposed to rent), they don't expire, they stay in your account where you can download or stream them at any time — but as RupertMurduck says, there are no guarantees when it comes to digital stuff.

You can watch them on Apple devices (including Apple TV), Macs and Windows PCs that have iTunes installed.

I'm an Apple user but I don't really recommend buying movies/shows on iTunes if you are not. If you don't buy into the Apple ecosystem it can be a hassle in the long run — in that case you're probably better off buying Blu-rays and ripping them.

Note also that there are ways to remove the DRM from iTunes-purchased media but I won't go into that here.

        Thanks!!

I chromecast everything to my TV so this sounds like it might be more hassle than it's worth. May end up downloading it all even though I wanted to buy it!
