HIS Radeon RX Vega 56 8GB $559 Pre Order (+ Delivery) at PLE Computers

PC419VIP

Just spotted this recently released Vega 56 deal using the code from the previous Vega 64 post. This code is confirmed to work and takes $20 off the $579 price to bring it down to $559. Postage is not included in this price. This is by far the cheapest vega card to date.

Thanks to Thiantipop for providing the code in a previous post: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/324093

  • Wouldn't wait too long if you want this, stock is going fast.

Damn… all on pre order already

  • Is the mining craze still on ? Stock seems very limited.

Don't think these are very good for mining. They use too much power.

      • They are apparently exceptional for mining, that is why they sold out so quickly around the world.

        • Eh, not really. They're OK. 1070s are still way better power/watt. They were expected to be amazing. Didn't really turn out that way it seems.

        • @MissKitty: I've not researched it yet, but they've sold very well on the belief they are good for mining.

@FabMan: Oi, don't neg a run, give a reason! Damn them neggers.

i will just wait for the aftermarket vega

  • 750w draw. im going to need a new PSU :(

    • +2

      Hoping you mean total draw?

    • +6

That's just a nominal number that's used to compensate for the fact that a lot of PSUs used by non-techsavvy people don't deliver their rated power, it doesn't reflect actual power draw at all.

This article shows no higher than 300W total system draw for an overclocked 7700K + RX580 system under fairly high load. Add an extra 50W to account for power spikes, and another 50 for peace of mind to get an actual recommended spec of ~400W. Vega 56 is a bit more power hungry, but a 500W supply should be absolutely adequate, as long as it's 80+ certified. Personally, I think even 400-450W is fine, depending on your CPU and your plans for overclocking.

        330W here, https://youtu.be/zfLuJajkwcY?t=986
Compared to the 1070 at 277-294W(1080 gaming at 303W). So not too bad, but no real performance gain compared to the old 1070.
The vega 64's are ridiculous and I don't get why they even bothered considering the 1080 kills it.
Any new nvidia cards are going to make them all look like a joke, requiring major price drops by AMD.

I would be waiting for at least the first third party designs.

Nice price but I think I'll wait for better cooler versions from MSI.

  • Jamessssss

  • Thanks op, was looking at picking one of these up anyway and 20 bucks off is good. Btw, it does include shipping in Melbourne Metro?

    • Yeah it looks like you get free registered Australia post for metro Melbourne (just put postcode 3000 into the shipping calculator). They also have pickup from the Heatherton store.

  • how do you compare this with gtx 1070?

    • Generally better performing but with higher power draw and heat. The 56 is still a better option especially when paired with a Freesync monitor.

Here are Beta Mining blockchain drivers for anyone who is still interested in mining.

    • RX580 is cheaper and performs better even after the drive update. These new cards are far too power hungry, so without better coolers will most likely throttle when placed under sustained mining loads.

      • Miners will undervolt and get the benefit from that, a little undervolting can dramatically reduce power consumption and heat generation.

  • guys - my 2 cents, please research about noise / heat level on amd ref designs. id strongly rec to get aftermarket cooling aib, as ref board gets real noisy and hot.

  • Does anybody know how the HIS brand is different to the gigabyte version of this card?
I will be getting a waterblock for it, so noise and heat is irrelevant, just wondering if the extra money for the gigabyte card is worth it?

    • All the reference Vega (56/64) cards seem physically identical. The difference between these Two is the warranty offered.

      Gigabyte 3 years
      HIS 2 years

Info is also listed on the PLE product page

  • I heard reports of flashing vega 64 bios to one of the bios on the 56 cards along with OCing is getting gtx1080 performance. Anyone done this yet?

  • I ordered a Vega 56 from PLE and forgot to use the code. I emailed the guys there and they threw in $20 worth of other stuff to make up for it. Awesome service.

  • Back in stock in some stores now, get in quick.

Same code gets you Vega64 Air for $679 AUD and Vega64 Liquid for $1039 AUD.

    • I've had an order in for the Sapphire Vega 64 liquid, originally had an estimated shipping date of 1/09/2017 but now it has been put on back order with stock due to arrive 02/10/2017. Even suppliers cant get a hold of these cards.

  • Ordered AMD 56, hopefully it can be toyed with for some improvement in efficiency.

  • Can anyone tell me if this card also comes with the Dual Bios?

If anyone is interested in Overclocking there's a good watch (linked bleow)

I'm asking the original question as you are able to Flash a Vega64 Bios onto the Vega56 cards and increase their performance to within 2-5% of the bigger brother card for the $$$ saved, they've also been shown to beat a GTX1080 in some situations.

    • Also very interested in this…

Amazing how little information there is on the HIS brand cards

    • Yes, I haven't done the flash, but the switch is there.
