I didn't know if this was a deal for Salmon or a Graphics Card…. turns out neither… lol

    • Damnit lol, me too - I click any bargain that has GTX in the name of it!

  • Does anybody know how the size fits for this?

If buying two pairs, cheaper to get from Amazon USA.

Love the Salomon speed cross 3. Fits like a glove but a the sole wears off quickly.

I would only buy a shoe with Vibram soles. I went on a 7 month backpacking trip with my friend and her Saloman's were completely worn out by the end, whilst my Scarpa's with Vibram soles looked like they'd barely been used. That was 3 years ago, and even now after continued use my Vibram Scarpa's are barely worn.

I would also highly recommend trying on hiking shoes to make sure you have the right fit - and that usually means buying half a size up so that you don't get toe bang going downhill and so that you have allowance for foot swell.

I know it goes against the OzBargain spirit, but hiking shoes should be treated as an investment. You should buy the right shoe for you, not the cheapest shoe you can find. If you buy a good quality and get a good fit, they should last you years and years…

        For hiking shoes, yes.

These shoes, in addition to the speed cross, are trail running shoes. They specifically use a softer rubber to increase grip when trail running.

        • My bad. They are indeed trail running shoes… but I'd still recommend Vibram soles.

      • but hiking shoes should be treated as an investment

Don't do it, total loss unless you manage to sell them.

  • Thanks OP, got one! Have being waiting for some time for another Salomon at this price tag.

  • If it weren't for the scorched awful that is the flame design I'd jump on it. I have the daddy boot version of this and they have done me very well.

  • Any idea where this item is shipped from? trying to figure out if i need to use an international transaction free credit card to purchase or not.

  • Great shoes. I picked up my pair from Kathmandu on clearance for about $140 if I recall correctly.

  • Just purchased the black/magnet pair for $180 from Snowys in SA. Great pair of shoes. Definitely recommend.

  • I was considering high top ones, do I really need it?

    • i depends if you need ankle support.

ive done heaps of off trail hikes with these shoes in australia and they have held up very well.
i hiked the annapurna circuit in the non goretex version of these shoes 2 years ago. 18 days and my feet were very happy.
its the reason im buying another pair.

      • Yep. That's what I mean though. How do I know if I need ankle support?

        • Quite simply If you roll your ankles easily then you need support?
          It's really up to you.
I like low shoes as I like to a bit more agile, but my wife likes boots as they provide a more rigid stability when she is walking.

  • good find op.
update they seem to have inverted your selected. colour apart from black are on sale

  • good find op.
