Also see Dashcam Talk for some good info. If you are a looking for something a little better and happy to pay more then look at the A119S for ~AU$96.

Ensure you pay in USD as their AUD rate is way inflated. See here

  • Have had one of these for over a year now. Very reliable, great quality videos. Only issue is I keep triggered the crash/g-force sensor, even at the lowest setting, from my music. Should probably turn down the bass.

Spend the extra and get the Viofo A119 or A119S. I have the A119S and its Novatek NT96660 chipset and Sony IMX291 image sensor are light years ahead of the A118C's Novatek NT96650 and Aptina AR0330 image sensor.

  • got A119S2 month ago, bought this one for rear , perfect timing

  • Anyone know if the GPS unit from the A119s will fit this?

    • Is it easy DIY wiring for back camera?

      • Same as front
Hide it along the door frame/trim and i tap 2 wires out from the cig lighter to connect to cig plug adapter. Unscrew the tip out put a wire in for positive and the negative is wrapped around one of the side metal part on the plug (only 1 of the 2 will work so need test it to see which one. Use electric tape n tape it up.
No need to buy any wiring kit use what they give u

  • I have a viofo a119s ($95), g1w ($45), and Lukas 7900 Ace ($350).

The g1w is terrible at night in that you'll never pick up a license plate unless you're stationary and directly in front of a car that's also not moving.
The viofo is slightly better in that it picks up the plate when both cars are moving under 20kmh.
Day time recording is average on both.

The Lukas however captures plates much more clearer whether you're stationary or driving, including oncoming traffic.

Save up and buy a higher end dash cam if capturing plates are important. Otherwise, these budget ones are okay.

  • +1 for such a well researched description. Thank you!

    • @hamza23, your OP specify Viofo brand fro this camera, but the website does not specify it and only mentions A118C. Are you sure it is from VioFO ?
Buyers wont be able to ask for refunds based on your post as website does not specify that.
Edit: Like this one specify Viofo:

Edit: Can see Rep's comment. Just funny how they have it for other Viofo models, but not this one.

But our product parameter is same as VIOFO version, and can competent for this job, if anyone don't satisfied this product while you use it and don't want it, we can offer full refund.

for the user who buy the A118C from this deal, please pm me the order number and we will provide $5 rewards as compensation.

    very apologize for this issues.

      • very apologize for this, it's our new supplier, so get some wrong information. as i said, we can offer full refund if you don't like it and also pm me the order number and we will provide $5 rewards as compensation.

    • How can I ask you full refund?

      • pm me order number and i will open a priority ticket, then customer service will send the refund instruction.

        • Thank you for your so quick response. This customer service is much better than any Australian company's.
All problems have solved with their first class service.

    • From a LightInTheBox supervisor responding to a ticket opened by MiniInTheBox about the knock-off A118C:

In regards of your issue, i may offer you 2 solutions

      1) Return for full refund.
      2) Or we may offer you a 30.99USD rewards that you may use for your next time shopping with us and you do not have to return the products.

Personally, I think this is terrible service.

I wouldn't have bought it if hadn't written this:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5010331/redir

      • hi mate, you said don't want the product, that's why we offer Return for full refund. if you worry about shipping cost, we will response for that. and if you have any others requirement, please let me know. i will try my best to satisfied you. and also very apologize for my mistake.

        • Just to follow up, LightInTheBox eventually offered a full refund without requiring a return:

We will arrange a refund of USD30.99 for you immediately. You do not have to return the item.
It normally takes 3-5 business days to complete the refund transaction. Please kindly check your PayPal account later.

But, 5 working days later, I had not received a refund and LightInTheBox closed the ticket.

I opened another ticket to request the refund they had promised, but they just closed my new ticket and referred me back to the previous (closed) ticket.

I would highly recommend avoiding this company.

        • @kuja: I sent mine back and they directed me to claim the postage cost with paypal postage refund. On their site they say use most economical return postage with tracking.

      • Just FYI.. the rewards has expiration date.

I was asking the option of refunding half the money US$15 from the $30.99 I paid.
Considering postage with tracking in Aust cost US$17.20 to send back which mean they have to refund me us$30.99 + us$17.20.
I thought it would have made sense to refund half and I keep the dvr with its quality issue.

        What do everyone think?
