I've wanted this exact TV for months now, but with the LG 55 OLED regularly hitting ~$2600 these days I think Harvey is going to have to go lower for my money. I'll feel short changed in 12 months when I can get an LG/Pana/Sony OLED for the same price.

Harvey will be dropping his prices to compete with Amazon in the near future.

    • Yeah I am with you, I really want an OLED but if the price is right on a good LED (this one is close) then I would be tempted. If the LG C7 55" was $2500 I think I would pull the trigger but I doubt it will be there for at least a few more months (if competition from Panasonic and other companies heat up in the OLED market).

Other Notable LED's I have been keeping an eye on that are all rounders with strong reviews:
      Samsung MU7000
      Samsung MU8000

      Sony X8500e
      Sony x9000e

**Hisense N7 (no rtings.com review, but supposed to be a newer version of the popular 20126 model M7000)

      • I too am keeping a close eye on 55" MU7000 and X8500E … at what level do you pull the trigger on these?

  • I'd be thinking once they fall under:
    $1500 for the x8500e 55" (best price I've seen was $1614.15 delivered)
    $1700 for the MU7000 55" (best price I've seen was 1794.60 delivered)

I'd be leaning towards Samsung if similar price due to better file support than Sony, but Sony has slightly better upscaling generally (if you use 3rd party media devices then not a big issue).

Personally though $1500 for a top brand 55" 4k HDR LED TV is the perfect bargain price, $2200 for a 65" version, and $2500 for a 55" OLED

**Hisense N7 55" has recently gone for $1249.40 Delivered ($2049.40 for 65"), almost worth considering if you like the picture in store of course.

    • Hmmm wondering when those prices will be reached though..

This line of Sony TV's are pretty good. They have the backlight zones which decreases bleeding and gives better blacks compared to most other LCD TV's. Worth the $? compared to the US price not really but we are used to higher prices I guess. The other options mentioned the Samsungs etc don't really compare to the Sony X9000 range for blacks and backlight bleeding. IF I was to buy a LCD right now it would be one with the backlight zoning otherwise I am waiting to pounce on an OLED. Viewing angle is a thing for me in the lounge and these Sony TV's start to severely lose blacks and all colours at 22 degress so you do need to be sitting pretty much in front.

OLED all the way! especially coming from a Pioneer Kuro Plasma after 10 years.

    • The Sony X85E is edge-lit - just to make it clear for everyone.
