Daiwa Nero 4500 $99 @ BCF (RRP $209) - Pick up Available

90

Don't often see fishing deals on Ozbargain but thought I'd post one. I have been eyeing these reels for a while as a good mid range reel that based on reviews is a workhorse and looks great.

This is the cheapest I've seen it by a long shot with listings on Ebay circa $150 at best.

Couldn't say no to the price.

Don't forget 4% off with cash rewards.

Was $7.95 for postage to Brisbane for me.

  • Do these reels have that reverse switch on the bottom?

Maybe I'm just a n00b, but I need one of those with my casting technique.

I wasn't happy when the higher end shimano stradics got rid of them for more waterproofness!

      Don't think it does.

Why do you need one for casting?

      Decent deal.

Those are only on lower end reels. Source: I used to work at BCF.

I prefer midrange Shimano as they are just better but at this price Daiwa is ok. Saragosa and Spheros are both sealed.

So you've never worked for Brisbane Christian Fellowship, your name sounds spiritual?

        • @Scab: cause it sounds kinda Jewish or do you think he can levitate ?

Personally I thought he'd be funnier

      • Yeh bought a Gosa recently due to being sealed! No one really uses reverse switch unless you're fishing old school in europe or something.

    • doesnt look like it

    Taken from http://www.breammaster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63903

Benefits of a nero when compared to a 4000 reel:
    Metal rigid body
    Huge line capacity
    10kg drag

Downsides when compared to a 4000 reel:
    Far heavier
    No mag seal
    Fewer bearings
    Not as smooth
only 2 more kg of drag for a huge jump in weight

So I bought a Saragosa instead with ebay 10% off. 90cm Jewie no problem. Wish I could better this :(

  • At least you have found a deal on bcf..
Ive been keeping my eye on a few things for a while now and even with 20% off bcf sale, i can still get them cheaper from aussie tackle shops on ebay. (These sellers actually have legit stores too, but not in my state or too far for me) :(

  • Last time I was in bcf they made a big deal of saying they would match any price, even on the internet

They may be getting ready for Amazon's arrival too

    • Well we would only match it if it was still profitable. There was a guy who worked there who beat everybody else but only by $1 to joke with the customer. He was always like your already here now might as well get it anyway.

I prefer Daiwa over Shimano, but we're all paying more than we should because of their support for atrocious Australian fishing shows. With award winning dialogue like:
    "That's a solid fish, mate"
"Yes mate, that solid fish is solid".

Edit: BCF is a dreadful franchise. Get your stuff through MoTackle
