Awesome find! There are heaps of stores with significant savings, cheers!

6% off JB and 7% off EB is pretty awesome, also 10% off DJ's.

it a real pity they dont accept amex!
Would have made a good deal even better

      • +1

Couldn't find anything about CC surcharges though.
Coles eGift or Gift Cards are notorious for 1% surcharges which eats into the discount.

  • This is awesome, I have a membership on the minimum for breakdowns

        Woolworths wish card discount?

  • Can someone provide me the full list of discounts? Looking for a macbook pro, currently have 5% off JB Hi-Fi, and would combine with 10% off time.

6% is better, but not by much, do any of these apple providers offer giftcards at anything higher than 6%, such as good guys etc.?

This puts the other state RACs to shame.

        • I know, we thought we were spoiled getting %5 off the cost price of Woolies group wish cards (That is the same as you get through Cashrewards too). The RACQ deals are huge. Lucky devils.

  • FYI, the web site says you need to register. The form asks for an RACQ membership number and has an asterisk next to it, but I can't confirm it's a required field so RACQ membership is required. Here's the full T&Cs for the curious.

Edit: I completely missed the prominent "Not a member? Get Lifestyle and start saving today." at the top of the form, with a button that takes you to an RACQ membership signup page. So, I think that pretty much confirms you need to be an RACQ member to access this site. As such, if you're a member of another autoclub you'll need to check your local web site to see if they offer the same.

  • I've been meaning to ask but didn't want to spam the forum with another inane question…
Are there any restrictions on purchasing third party gift cards in store with a Coles gift card?

    • +1

By right you're not supposed to. But the system allows you to, barring any staff members stopping you.

      • Same with Woolies, although it was a year ago I last tried.

last Saturday I purchased $300 toys r us gift cards using e-gift cards

How long this will last Op? Is this permanent discount for RACQ members?

  • Can you buy a coles gift card at kmart using a kmart gift card?

    • I have used target gc to buy coles gc at target and no one asked any questions

when i used coles gc to buy bunnings gc, I was treated like a criminal. Had to try a different coles store.

      • +2

I know since coles updated their self checkout software, you can't use a gift card to buy another gift card anymore, but before that you could. kmart still has the old software on their self checkouts.

        • Hiw to use this cards at kmart checkout. I went today and there was one option for Voucher. I tried to scan my egift card but it didn't work.

      • Based on your experience, that's essentially 7.5% off physical coles myer gift cards correct? Ie, buy target egiftcards at 7.5% discount from RACQ then buy physical coles myer gift cards at target.

        • Don't think that works

        • Can anyone confirm if this works? I'm also interested in jet star/virgin blue third party giftcards..

      • Does target have self-checkout?

  • I couldn't find anywhere on their website about Coles gift cards… can someone please provide a link?

    • +1

https://rewards.racq.com.au/retailer/coles , must be logged in to see the page.

      • Thx mate, just registered for roadside assistance for $85/year in order to get the discounts.

        • +1

if you don't need roadside, you can get lifestyle membership for $26 per year

      • must be logged in to see the page.

Thanks for that doweyy, just spent 30 mins clicking over all the options and searching each "grouping" (like Shopping or Travel) and couldn't find the JB, Coles etc items.

Will sign up as lifestyle and get a few things that will help with some upcoming purchases.

  • +3

You can also become a lifestyle member for $26/year to get the discount

Couldn't find anything about CC surcharges though.
Coles eGift or Gift Cards are notorious for 1% surcharges which eats into the discount.
Can an RACQ member please check for the OzB community before we all sign up to memberships? :) Pretty please :)

  • +4

Signed up just to try it. No CC surcharge but they ask you to verify with a 4 digit code on the transaction. After that card was available straight away. Tried a kmart 50 dollar card

    • That's awesome. Thanks for letting us know. This is enough incentive to buy a Lifestyle membership and start reaping in the GC discounts :)

    • Yeah did this as well. Issue is that I called the CC issuer and they say the four digit V number will not be available for 10 days…

      • Which bank?

I used citibank and they have instant pending transactions and I was able to view teh V number straight away.

        • +1

          Was Coles MasterCard

  • On the fence about whether to pay the annual $26 fee to access these discounts…
5% at Coles, Good Guys, rebel
    8% at BCF, dymocks
    6% at JB
    7.5% at Target, Kmart

all are ones that could make it worth it, but I think that if I get discounts on everything it will prompt me to buy even more stuff that I don't need!!

    • +3

      username checks out.

    • +2

But on a more serious note, you make back the membership fee just after a single $500 Coles card purchase. That's a bit more than a month's worth of groceries for the average family. Multiply that by 12 for a year and you've made a profit of ~11 times the annual fee!
      Pretty good now eh? ;)

      • While all that might be well and good I don't actually buy the groceries for my family :P
Thinking of presents though, but then I would be limited to those stores - although almost everyone I buy for could fit under one of the store categories above.

    • +1

if your electricity/gas is with AGL you can get coles GC through AGL rewards. I think some private health insurance also has this.

      • NIB has access to these discounts but have a 1% credit card surcharge and charge $5 postage

        • Mostly the same but NIB (and Lumo, AGL and entertainment book) dont have bonds, baby bunting or witchery.

  • +1

Playing around with this a bit, cool to see all the benefits available for RACQ members. I noticed that Coles egiftcards aren't valid for Coles Online. Also looks like you need to add some ID to your 'gift card portal account' like a drivers licence? I didn't actually buy a gift card yet, but just thought I'd mention these observations.

Overall looks like a great new place to get discounted gift cards and other benefits, and you can join for just $26 as various comments have already said. I assume anyone can join (don't need to be in QLD).

  • Can some one post a link of purchase the Coles egift card thru the RACQ

  • Does anyone know what's the largest $ amount of one JB Hifi gift card? I don't want to use 70 $100 card to buy a $7000 product.

    • +1

      $500 max per card

    • I used 15 x $100 once, no problems.

  • Would be good if they had an APP that could hold all these gift cards (like the Woolies Money APP). I suppose for now I will just have a link on my Phone's homepage that takes me to the RACQ eGift Card portal

  • +2

Now we just need Cashrewards to match this deal!!!

  • Is there any way to purchase Officeworks gift cards? I tried to use the Coles egift card at Officeworks and it doesn't work. I also tried to buy a Coles Myer physical gift card at Coles with the Coles egift card but this also didn't work.

  • Bought $700 worth of JB-HiFi coupons and got myself a PS4 Pro and some Games :)

Also used a voucher I received from Ford.

Got $800 worth of value for $701. (PS4 Pro, Four games, and extra controller).

    • Can I come over?

      • +1

        Sure.

  • Cheers OP great find :)

  • +1

This is the link for RACQ eGift Cards Portal btw. One in OP only provides info.

    https://rewards.racq.com.au/login

  • Just bought my first lot of this deal, and they tell me the portal is down now that i've paid and they can't send the e cards yet. So much for spending them today.

  • Bought 1x $500 and 1x $50 DJ's card today, verified the code straight away, however, it's still processing.
There was this message on the DJ's card purchase page:

Please be advised that there may a delay in receiving $50 David Jones eGift Cards due to the busy Christmas period.!

Hopefully it will come through soon!

    • Update: over 24 hours since ordering and still no gift card. I've spoken to support and they've stated it could take up to the full stated 72-hours :(

      • Final update: Took about 30 hours and the cards worked with no issues :)

  • I am a RACV member, am I eligible to register for this free? any advice is appreciated.

    • If you are already a member just log into your account and you should be able top purchase cards

    • oh, sorry I didn't realise the difference between qacv and racq. I don't know the answer to your question.

      • thanks anyway.

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase visa prepaid gift cards with a Coles egift card? At officeworks? Or at Coles?

  • +1

Just thought I'd add that some gift cards are restricted in denomination and quantity, which makes them less usable for big ticket item purchases. Example, The Good Guys + JBHI only allow you to buy $50 gift cards with a maximum of 10 at a time (per calendar month).

On the other hand David Jones cards are in denominations of up to $500 x 10, making it a much better deal for big purchases. Pity they couldn't price match the fridge at The Good Guys as it was below their cost price and not in stock.

    • Yeah, pretty annoying. Was going to buy a phone from JB tomorrow. Previously you could buy JB vouchers at denominations of up to $499, now capped at $50. It’s only just changed, as I bought a $499 JB voucher only 2 weeks ago. Bummer.

    • There's actually a way to get around this, you take the whole amount out of the denomination box and put the amount you want (Up to 10 x $500) and then add to cart, it allows you to order.
