  • ColorOS 3.1 ?

  • I believe the 10% off Velocity membership only applies to $50 or higher plan.

    • You're right. Oops.

      Updated accordingly.

      • The $40 plan for Iphone 6 32GB, Sony XZ or the $50 ($45 with Velocity( plan for Iphone SE 128GB seems pretty decent to me.

  • Contract cost is $972 - $50 - $649 = $273

    So your paying $273 for 24m of 4GB/unlimited mobile account = $11.375 p/m

As you can shop around for phones to get lower cost, is this really a deal?

As xmchen has pointed out, the deal is for the $50 plan for $45 with 4GB of data.

      $45 x 24 = $1080 - $649 - $50 = $381 / 24 = $15.88/M for the plan with 4GB data with roll-over and free music streaming is a pretty good deal in my point of view.

Then add the modern device in that only came out 1-2 months ago.

I'd say the deal is pretty decent if you're not into paying heaps for a mainstream flagship device, and don't want an old device like an iPhone SE or 6.

      • If you want the phone, it's decent. You won't get $649 if you plan to sell it, $500 to $550 more realistically.

I wouldn't buy a plan to sell the device anyway, and that wasn't the point of posting this deal.

Lke you said, if you want the device.

I think its better to compare the deal to what you might already be paying. eg, if you currently pay $30/month for a comparable plan, then $45/month is basically $15/month or $180 for the phone. If you get $50 back, then that makes it $130 for the phone.

$130 for a 5.5" phone with the Oppo's specs seems like a good deal. You just have to be happy being locked to Optus for 2 years…

Maybe worth a read before purchase, including other Oppo threads, nice hardware with questionable support, across the entire range.

Yeah, Oppo talked the talk and started to walk the walk, then decided that walking was too hard.
Fortunately for me my R7 was Bricked with their Project Spectrum Beta and Oppo replaced it with a brand new R7S that I onsold.

  • I have an Oppo R7 bought when tricky dickies was going bust for $290. For a $300-350 these phones are awesome value. But I wouldn't pay >$400 for one.

  • Do I have to unlock this Oppo to use it overseas? Traveling abroad soon. Many thanks for anyone who knows.

    • updates:

      just chat with Virgin agent:

the phone is unlocked and able to use with any non-virgin sim.

the actual phone cost is $27/month. so keep in mind this cost when canceling your contract before it ends.

  • I want something which support wifi calling so I don't need to use roaming service.

  • With Oppos you can't use third party apps for messaging(You can change it but after a while the default changes back because of security) & clock(alarm doesn't work). Also you can't make permanent changes in Dev Options.

I love my Oppo R9 plus. Sure it has some quirks, but so does my wife, and I'm still with her, too!
