UPDATE: Please note that excaliberpc do not accept international credit card payments. PayPal may not be accepted for international orders. Make sure your PayPal account is verified otherwise it definitely won't be accepted. In the event you need to wire transfer your payment, you may wish to use PennyTransfer: http://www.pennytel.com.au/International-Money-Transfer/Over… . They charge an $8 flat fee, a lot cheaper than most banks. You have the added benefit that the transfer payment is counted as a transaction on your credit card, so you get the usual interest-free period and reward points.

  • Good deal, good company, there is a thread on this on whirlpool, many people people buying it through these guys.

But this doesn't come with blue tooth from what I recall?

Also the ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM-P seashell that they also have for sale is an extremely good 10 inch netbook.
    http://www.excaliberpc.com/598694/asus-eee-pc-1015pem-p-seas…

    • -1

Yes, but that is really only a netbook, with performance to match.

This is more than a netbook, you could even use it as your everyday computer - just plug in a monitor.

      • +1

Yeah I know. I wasn't comparing the two. Just saying if you are after a ten inch, the 1015pem-p is quite good. Both products have different market audiences, specially with one having up to 13 hours battery life.

  • Is the server overloaded?

    • Yeah, not loading at the moment.

EDIT: It's loading now, it looks like they just added extra stock, probably why it was offline.

  • "ASUS 360 - 1 Year Global Warranty

    • 1 year global warranty
    • 6 month battery warranty
    • 24/7 tech support
    • Free 1-way standard shipping"
I thought all Asus laptops come with 2 years warranty?

    http://www.excaliberpc.com/598371/asus-lamborghini-vx6-250gb…

    VERY similar specs
With the Lamborghini differing with a better look, 2 USB 3 ports, and BT.
Differing to this model by 214 USD… wow, haha

    • Plus you get to look like a douchebag with a Lamborghini badge on the lid of your laptop ;).

Only the mainstream ASUS laptops come with a 2 year warranty - not the so-called netbooks with Eee PC branding.

      • Lamborghini's sexy ;)
I never knew Eee pcs don't come with 2 years..

  • How does this look as an alternative?

    https://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=950

    • Probably not too bad for the price, but the ASUS beats it on all specs apart from the Bluetooth - particularly the CPU and video card.

The ASUS 1215N would be a lot faster, you can even play most games on it.

  • is this U.S. site?

  • I have purchased from ExcaliberPC* successfully before (2007). I found them to be very responsive, and I was happy with them.

Keep in mind that you will have to pay via wire transfer and that you will be charged about $35 for this. (Unless they've changed policy about non-American issued credit cards.)

They also have an eBay shopfront that, of course, accepts PayPal (higher prices, though.)

I've had no need for aftersales service from ExcaliberPC, however, I was pleasantly impressed with Asus Australia's warranty service. Asus generally provides an international warranty for laptops, however, shipping to the Australian service centre may not be included for a laptop purchased abroad. (Although, they waived this for me without having to ask.)

Note: For purchase totals above $1000 you will likely have to fill in importation paperwork (and pay GST) in advance or face shipping delays.

    *should really be Excalibur PC.

There's a discussion on Whirlpool about payment options available from this online store. Some Whirlpool members have complained that excaliberpc only accepts wire transfer (no credit card payment, paypal) for international payments (and wire transfers will cost an additional A$45?). The real cost will be higher than A$591.

    According to the excaliberpc website:
    3. Does EXcaliberPC.com accept international credit cards?
We will no longer accept International credit cards starting from 10/1/2007. All International orders must be paid via bank wire transfer. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this. Updated: 10/1/2007

I think you should try www.bhphoto.com instead if you want to order this netbook. The eeepc 1215N black sells for US$484.03 at bhphoto, shipping and handling costs range from US$73.75 to US$143. Best shipping option seems to be UPS Worldwide saver at US$84.24 (3 to 5 days delivery). They accept credit card payment for international orders.

I'm sure you can use PennyTel Money Transfer (cost only $8) to send money to excaliberpc.

You can use your credit card and get the usual interest free days and reward points.

      • You would have to use PennyTel or something similar or this wouldn't be a bargain, even then it's almost the same as bhphoto, but more work since you need a Pennytel account. Should put in description the cost of wire transfer and alternative payment methods.

Bhphotovideo delivers in 3-5 days, which probably beats excaliberpc.

    • For those interested, the website for b&h is actually www.bhphotovideo.com you can enter www.bhphoto.com but it redirects to www.bhphotovideo.com

      • +1 for BHPhoto. Large reliable brick and mortar store in NYC with good e-store.

    • If you have a verified PayPal account, you can still try to pay excaliberpc that way - there is at least one person on WhirlPool that was successful. I think the key is that you are VERIFIED.

Yes, it is probably a nuisance to set up the PennyTransfer payment but there are benefits doing it that way. They have a reasonable exchange rate and your transfer is counted as a credit card transaction, so you get reward points and the usual interest free period.

      • That one person ordered through ExcaliburPC eBay store, if you read his previous posts.

I tried to order from Excalibur PC store itself and was refunded, regardless of being verified as well. Their strict policy is nothing but wire transfer for international orders, and they say it's due to seller protection.

  • running win7 on Intel Atom?

    • Yes, easily. You can even run Aero interface with the NVIDIA ION graphics.

      • Agreed - I find Win7 runs better on my Aspire One D250 than XP does. Aero is fine with the oldschool GMA950 graphics.

  • Great deal! Thanks for sharing. I found this model is selling for $824 on an Australian website. That's why I love buying things from the US. Those retarded Australian online retailers trying to make money by overpricing the products should go to hell.

  • Nice spotting, I've been hunting for the new atom n550 netbooks with USB 3.0, if only they had SSD drives too I'd be sold!

If you're using their ebay site, goto the ebay.com not .au store, as it's about $30 cheaper.

Of course Amazon is cheaper again, but you have to organise redirected shipping.

    • But at least Amazon will accept an Australian credit-card, even with a US delivery address.
Same laptop is us$484 at Amazon.

  • What happens with the difference in voltage? Does the notebook automatically re-adjust from the USA 110v to Aust 240v?

    • Yes, the cord is in two parts:

      • A lead from the wall to the transformer.
      • then from the transformer to the computer.

The transformer adjusts any incoming voltage to suit that specific model's voltage requirements.

All you need is a plug adapter, or an Australian lead.

    • Yeah you just need an Aussie plug. Modern power supplies are 110-250v 50/60Hz auto switchable.

I just had an email exchange with these guys, Even though some of their products advertise USB 3.0 in the spiel, but checking the specs, as they are mostly USB 2.0. (this is on their website & Ebay store - the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM was the one I was eying off),
So if you're buying anything from here should email them first to double check the specs.
