How is this a deal when Virgin and Qantas are offering sub $500 return fares to HK?
Where are these sub $500 return fares?
I am looking at SYD-HK-MAN-HK-SYD over a 10 week period from 14 August and Cathay Pacific smashes Qantas everytime according to skyscanner.com.au
Both Virgin and Qantas had the $490 sale few weeks ago fly to HK but they were for flying form July to September 2017 only.
You are checking one more city obviously will be different.

I'd prefer to pay more for a direct flight with Cathay from Adelaide to HK than waiting around Sydney or Melbourne a few hours.

How can you call this a deal UNLESS the price is for 2 people return.
Storerep, it would be more helpful if you could tell us what are the restrictions and the booking class codes. I guess some people would be willing to pay $7xx if you've less restrictions, more flexible booking classes and/or 100% mileage earning, etc. Otherwise, there're much better deals from Qantas and Virgin.
CX you are supposed to put out something that is $4XX to trump the QF's offers a couple of week before :(
