ASUS Chromebook Flip C302CA

Has been a favourite in reviews and I use one myself from the last time they had $100 off.

Can be used as a Laptop or a tablet, Full HD touchscreen, m3 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, micro SD card slot, love the backlit keyboard, good battery life. It replaced my old MacBook pro, first I was sceptical about buying a Chromebook but I booted it up and never looked back.

Seems very expensive for the specs. Sorry, I do not see a deal here.

    • 32gbs my gooodness…

Most chromebooks have 16. You're expected to use google drive for storage.

Chromebooks are getting ridiculous in pricing for what they are worth. Expecting the ChromeOS Apologists to come out and defend this statement, but really you might as well buy an Asus UX360 from Amazon for the same price and stick Linux or whatever flavour of OS suits your needs (including Chromium OS, the Open source version of ChromeOS).

    • just install linux on your chromebook problem solved

Problem isnt just the OS issue. More that you're getting Jacked for buying a Chromebook with specs like this. I've seen better value from $500 Laptops. Paying a premium for it to be a "Chromebook" with sub-par specs and asking stupid prices for it. This would be a "bargain" if it was more around $400-500 range.

        • Agree, but in the real world where most regular people shop, $500-$600 would be still a fair bargain.

Really not many FHD backlit screen laptops out there new for under $800 with any OS.

          Well.. Just comparing:
Asus UX360 - Windows "Cousin" of this but with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and full Windows License etc etc

          $559 USD Delivered ($700 AUD)

Just had a quick look at Amazon too for other specimens, and found a "better" model to this with 64GB Storage

          https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5G5PG2

          $488 USD Delivered - $612 AUD. ($200 AUD Cheaper + more Storage).

        • @bchliu:

Sure, the UX360 represents great value with better specs but lacking a backlit keyboard that always comes at a premium and important to some. Some prefer Chrome OS to windows, also buying from U.S. online is not everyone's cup of tea.

The second chromebook with double memory is better value at $180-$200 less delivered but again online from O.S. does not suit some, also no TRS too.

For the hardcore value seeking OzBargainer tekky people who enjoy hunting out a super bargain ( me included ), this is not cheap enough. But for half the people on here and 90% of population looking for a top notch CHROMEBOOK in this price range, this is good.

  • no deal

The Chromebook market was relevant where they produced effective devices cheaper than Windows alternatives.

This trend seems to have died, I expect as Google decided it wasn't worth a large portion of their R&D budget, so like their mobile hardware, is an option rather than a primary contender.

  • hmm quite pricey compared to the Samsung Plus from Amazon which also runs Android Apps out of the box…

    • I have a chromebook plus, you're much better off with that one then splurging on this.

  • A Chromebooks appeal is the price. The specs are shockingly bad for its price. There are an abundant of better options at this price point.

I'm a fan of Chromebooks, but honestly, there is no significant value play here.

Better to buy off Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Chromebook-C302CA-DHM4-12-5-Inch-Touc…
    ~490 USD / 615 AUD including shipping + 64GB instead of 32GB ?

The first user review of this at Amazon is very informative.

The Asus Australia deal is terrible. You have got to be kidding.

      • Has someone got the rights to the word "Australia" so whenever someone uses it they add 30% ?

        • It's the Australia Tax which we love so much. We love to pay so much more for stuff because we can…. Submit to my spending powerrrrrr!!

  • Much cheaper to just order from America and get it shipped here. Chromebooks I the middle to upper tier are excellent machines to use.

  • I'd happily pay much more for a ChromeOS than windows OS. Not saying i'd buy this deal but in terms of ease of use and actually, you can do quite a bit on a ChromeOS, despite what the ignorant naysayers. say. Fair enough if your a gamer, or need specialty software, but why go through the pain of using Windows when most of us dont need to.

  • I've been chasing a decently priced Chromebook. The chase continues
