MEL Return Athens, Greece (+ 8/20hrs Singapore Transit) Via Scoot $767 (October) @ IWTF

180

Hi all,

Yet another low airfare, this time to Athens, Greece with 2 stopovers in Singapore (8.5 + 20.5) as well. Play around with dates as pricing will be similar shouldering these days.

Flight is with Scoot (Singaporean Airline) both ways.

Heaps of things to do in Greece and then time to visit the City of Singapore + Universal Studios Sentosa Island

This flight is usually $950+ without the Singapore stopover, so worth in if in the market for a bargain getaway.

Departing Sydney for $933 but without the stopover.

Remember the $1 Flight Centre Price Beat too

Hope this helps someone out there.

    Flight is with Scoot

    deal breaker…

    • +1

      Why?

      • -1

feedback from people who've flown with scoop say it's crap.

the stopover times for connections are ridiculous.

        • +4

I've had feedback from people with the opposite to be honest.
Connections can offer option to sightsee and experience another country. Especially with the 20hr option. Depends on what's important to you.

If your planning for a stopover, sure, but many people just want to get to their destination only, especially if you have kids… Scoot is not a good option for them.

        • +4

@jv: True, but many people also don't have kids and like multi-city trips :)

I don't think Julia Gillard reads OzBargain though.

we've flown with scoot before and i have no complaints

        • @Izefyre:

Well that just changes everything then….

        • +1

@jv: So pay $933 that's included in the description then

        • @jv: yeah pretty much

        • @jv: can't speak for Scoot, but when travelling between Australia & Europe we often target flights with a long layover. Getting off the aircraft and out of the airport for a few hours makes the journey much more paletable, particularly when flying with kids. Nothing worse than back to back overnight flights.

          @braddsey:

I disagree, you don't want the valium to wear off…

        • +1

@jv: How do you slip it to the kids? 😉

        • +1

@jv: that's why we pack Xanax as well. We don't want to give the kids 2 doses of Valium within 30 hours… that would be irresponsible parenting.

      • jv is the pilot!

  • 29hours.

    • 58 hours return then…

      • 87 hours let's go together jv!😘😘

Don't forger to add around $250 each way for 1x 20kg bag, meals and entertainment

  • +2

As much as I wanna go there for cheap, I don't know if I can bear with flying budget economy for more than 5 hours… 29Hrs is just too long I reckon.

It's a loooooooong "transit" and not a "stopover".

  • Singapore is brilliant and I'd love to spend 7 hours in that glorious airport. The thing that I dislike is the prices of the baggage. The meals on scoot are outrageous compared to air Asia. I'd just load up on cheap and delicious hawker fare at Singapore airport. I've found in peak times scoot business often is not that much more than economy.

    • If you have time and can't be bothered leaving the airport, the outdoor swimming pool and bar at T1 is a great way to kill some time!

  • If you're travelling without any food, baggage and entertainment and u think u can survive go for it.

Once u start adding the other stuff the prices are about the same as full service airlines.

    • Challenge accepted ;)

      • haha still a great deal, and i appreciate the sharing, I'm just speaking from experience.

  • I agree that full service airlines can be a better price overall. I'm flying cathay pacific from Perth to shanghai via hk. Then from Singapore to Perth also via hk 😩 For $651. That'll include about 6-7 meals, 30kg luggage and I'm sure they have some sort of entertainment, although I haven't given that part any thought. Beat that budget airlines! I'll probably even get a blanket and amenity kit on the overnight flights between hk and Perth.

    • How did you book that with different stopover cities?

      • I'm on a cruise from Shanghai to Singapore. Booked it via sky scanner. A one way ticket Perth Singapore would be more than the return. Then I'd still have to pay to return to Perth from Singapore.
