They don't price jack for site wide, mainly store specific.

    • +9

Oh cmon!! Stop with this price jacking bla bla bla at every eBay post!

  • +12

Because of you TA I am broke, Thanks great work.

    • +3

Because of TA/OzBargain, you also don't got as broke thanks to the savings!

      • +7

Nope, probably just has, even more, stuff than he/she would have ordinarily bought.

        • +1

          Fair enough yeah, agreed!

      • +1

Because of TA/OzBargain, you also don't got as broke thanks to the savings!

        Yep.

The money you save buying stuff you need
+ the money you spend buying stuff you didn't know you needed
        = $0

…but you have more stuff than you would have had without OzB ;)

        • The money you save buying stuff you need
+ the money you spend buying stuff you didn't know you needed
          = $0

the money I spent buying stuff I didn't know I needed… is much higher. im definitely broke!

  • this or wait for 20% off?

    • +2

…obviously that depends on how much you're spending.

    • +3

Haven't seen a 20% off sitewide eBay deal for a long long time.

    • +2

      Do some basic maths? LOL

  • +1

Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again.

    • [Targeted]

Don't worry, I also bought some items on eBay's "Hump Month" but they didn't give me the offer.
I think there's an algorithm that eBay uses to give offers depending on your activity.
High activity should get you "something", low activity may get you "something", there's a proverbial sweet-spot somewhere in the middle to get the most/best targeted offers.

  • Yes! I needed to buy more prepaid mail satchels! Thanks TA!

  • Chormecast ultra deal?

  • +1

I think I have gained over 15 feedback ebay ratings as a buyer over the last couple of months.

  • Great deal TA.

They can't all price jack, can they?

  • +1

Brilliant - thank you. Any idea why eBay has had so many deals like this lately?

    • +12

      Amazon scares them

that and the fact that not many people want to shop on eBay as in the past because of

      1) chinese sellers pretending to be in Australia flooding the market
      2) huge fees and double dipping (fees to eBay, fees to PayPal) means no small sellers can really make much profit
      3) Amazon coming
      4) Alibaba coming

      • +10

Interesting! Yes I've experienced that (1) first hand - the old Darwin location.

        • I thought Darwin was in China! At least the nearby port is anyway.

        • +1

At least Darwin as a location is most likely a giveaway that it's China or Malaysia posted. The ones that annoy me say Sydney or Melbourne and are clearly arriving weeks later posted from China.

        • +8

          @silvertone:

Don't wait for it to arrive. Start a PayPal dispute after a week and push for refund. Punish the lying pricks.

        • @PainToad:
And let's not forget that by putting "Location Sydney" they feel justified to increase the price up $10 or 20% compared to other listings that show Hong Kong or China.

May be better to wait 1.5 weeks… that way you will get the item and the refund.
Then it would constitute as punitive damages.
Otherwise, in 5 days or so, they may not have even shipped it because "reasons" (lazy).

      • +1

If people think ebay are bad, amazon in ten years will be even worse. Amazon are completely uncompetitive in their practices. You can be sure when a few die because A prices will go up.

        • +1

I'm sure they won't kill Bunnings, so at least power tools should become a bit cheaper

        • @buckster:

why would they make prices cheaper if they have no competition ?

Ca n you name a single example in history where less competition brings prices down ?

        • +1

@ninetyNineCents: You might need to re-read the above comment again, a bit more slowly this time

      • +1

        yeh exactly, (profanity) ebay.

      • +2

Alibaba? I thought TAOBAO is coming lul

  • +1

    • Me too. Maybe the code doesnt work anymore?!

    • Now, read the t&cs, but it doesnt work so :|

  • Also getting an error. Will it work for ebay US?

          ups! move on i mean!!

  • +16

I feel sometimes Ozbargain is a secret vehicle formed by the capitalist retailers to spike spending… I most definitely have a room full of things I don't need, purchased just because they were bargains. I don't know why I ever needed 48 Eneloops or 20TB's of HDD space or a 1080ti just to play Dota 2…

    • +6

hahaha. classic example of the ozbargain effect. who are you really scotty

  • +7

This is targeted I believe. It comes up as a voucher for me

On a positive note I finally got a frickin voucher

  • +1

hmm just spent 120 on ebay before i spot this..Such is life…

    • +2

cancelled and reordered :) Thanks TA

      • How do you cancel and re order I used a great account because my main eBay account is flumped.. stupid PayPal issues yada yada haha lol etc

        • Contacted the seller, and explained the situation. He was prompt in cancelling the order and then again ordered as a gresh order with the code :)

    • Politburo potato latvia

  • +2

    Epic fail.

  • +1

Thanks OP, worked for me, also there was a screen in my eBay landing page advising me of this voucher to use.

    • same here. love the landing

      • love the landing strip

        • landing strip?

  • +1

Finally saw it on my home page but not in my eBay summary.

  • my code is THANKYOU

OP, could you please add this code as well to the OP?

    • no when you check t&c the full code is THANKYOU20

@OP: oh just please copy paste whole t&c

    • is there anyone else who got the code THANKYOU instead of THANKYOU20?

      • +1

Got THANKYOU20, but the eBay banner says THANKYOU, unlike THANKYOU20, doesn't actually work here though.

  • +30

In typical fashion I've received the "F-You00" code.

  • +1

This offer commences at 10.00 (AEST) on 27 July 2017 and ends at 23.59 (AEST) on 10 August 2017 (“Offer Period”).

good stuffs. generous long period to use

    • +1

Just tried but not working yet.

      • then its not for you :) works for me and others

  • +1

Who exactly is Ebay "thanking" and why ?

    • +1

Because those bought a lot complained they didn't receive any targeted code.

    • +3

      Received email at 10am…
"Thanks for Shopping With us in Hump Month
Get $20 off when you spend $100 or more* on anything at eBay
      Use Code THANKYOU20 →
*Ends 10 August. Exclusions and T&Cs apply."

  • got the code but still not that great of a deal for me to bite

    • +6

      Thanks for letting us know.

  • Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again

    code should be : THANKSFORNOTHINGEBAY

  • Nice one op.

About time a decent deal is posted, hopefully I'm targeted but highly doubt it

  • For those that say the code isn't working, this is the subject line of the email - a little thank you for shopping with us in Hump Month.

So it would appear that this is targeted to users that bought something off ebay this month.

    • +12

I've bought things this month and nothing. yet again, not a single targeted coupon

      • -8

And not a single vote, maybe that's your problem?

    • +1

i bought none this month but $200 worth last month (june) and this code works for me this time

    • +2

A bought many things in the last few months and got nothing :(
It's Ebay so I'm not surprised at all, there's no logic in their targeted deals anw.

      • +4

you bought too much. sometimes you need to play hard to get.

    • +1

Hump month ran from 1 June to 30 June. I spent about $500 over 11 separate transactions, and no love for me. So maybe it's another one of those random selection targeted codes. However, sometimes these things take a while to filter through - in the past I've found codes haven't worked but a little while later I eventually get the email from eBay and it works. So will check again tomorrow I guess……

  • Anyway to check for vouchers using the ebay app?

    • yes add to cart and add code and it will see if u qualify or not

  • Hope it is 20% off instead.

  • +2

mannn i never get the targetted emails :(
