Xiaomi XiaoFang 1080P Night Vision Wi-Fi IP Camera Motion & Voice Detection AU $24.16 Shipped from Australia @ Apus Auction eBay

550
COLLECTING

This is a great little camera for the price.

By default, it connects to Chinese servers, but you can hack it to provide a local RTSP stream for use with a local recorder, etc:

https://github.com/samtap/fang-hacks

This camera has been cheaper - but as far as I remember, only when ordering directly from China. If you're happy to wait literally weeks for the camera to arrive and only want one (or willing to do multiple orders if that's allowed), you can currently get it for about $22.67:

For an extra $1.50, I think that this is a much better option but opinions may vary of course!

I didn't see APUAuctions listed on the COLLECTING page, but the coupon works nonetheless.

Don't forget to use CashRewards for an extra 1.3% off!

  • Doubt this will be local stock either.

      The listing does say:

Item location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Of course, they could be doing a dodgy listing but if the item doesn't arrive within a reasonable time (Estimated at the 1st of August for me), then you could file a PayPal dispute. If the camera does finally arrive from China and you don't feel like paying them back, I wouldn't have much sympathy for the seller…

I'm currently waiting for order where it said local stock. Then got an email saying it'll take 3 weeks, and coming from overseas. I'll be giving negative feedback. Sick of those dodgy listings

Thank you. Was about to order them and then read what you wrote.

        • PayPal are pretty good with their dispute handling. Just put up enough argument and get a full refund.

        • Sorry should've mentioned my order wasn't for this item. Just in general there's a few eBay listings saying local, but is shipped from overseas.

Click & Collect available, good chance for local stock

    • Well, my cameras arrived today, so pretty sure it was local stock! ;-)

      • Fair enough

  • Instructions are in chinese, how the hell do you set this thing up?

Bought this Wednesday last week, just got notification to collect today. Pretty fast turn around.

Just bought one. Got the payment confirmation and realised it's a Shopping Square company. Fingers crossed I get my camera on time this time.

  • Got a few - looking forward to working out how to store the data in the cloud & overwrite every few days. If anyone knows a good forum for discussion please point me there :)

I think these will be handy to point at windows / easy entry points to your home, to deter would be crooks. The key is to keep them in fairly visible spots.

    • I like the way you think. Good points all the way around.
Seems like it might be a good topic to bring up on Whirlpool?

  • Recently got one…
It cant connect to my wifi.. Keeps saying "timed out" then i googled it and found out its only supposed to be for sale in mainland china.. And wont work outside of china???
    Anyone else cant connect it??

    • Tell it in the settings you are in mainland China and it works perfectly.

    • I've had this problem in the past. Sometimes even setting to mainland China doesn't work. It eventually connects though - just make sure you try and set it up as close to your router as possible.

Once it's set up, then you can unplug and move it to where you want it to go.

        Thanx b-rad and 2jzzz…
I changed to mainland china and it worked!! :) then i got to excited and updated camera firmware and now it cant find the camera. Google says its a whole other problem, it was fun while it lasted

        • Spent hours on this mainland china issue.

  • Fortunately the hack works and makes this camera good value. Without it, it's nowhere near as useful.

    • +2

Find it useful without hacking, I have few xiaomi sensors, lights and a gateway so using the mi home app makes more sense to me.

  • Thanks Op,

Pulled the trigger on 2 units when code PLAYER wouldn't work for me just before midnight!

It says it should arrive on Aug1.

Now to find some PTZ cams with similar specs.

  • Haven't got a dispatch confirmation yet and it's meant to arrive by 1 August. Did anyone else get a dispatch confirmation?

    • I've already received mine - got an email on the 25th through Ebay saying that my order had been sent.

    • Got dispatch confirmation today for order placed on 24th. Est del was tomorrow but I don't see that happening.

      • Yeah I got a message from them saying it was delayed. I replied telling them I wasn't happy and to expect negative feedback if it doesn't arrive today. Shonky shopping square at it again. If I had known apus was shopping square I would have avoided them and saved $4 and just ordered from one of the other Chinese sellers.
