obligatory inb4 20% price hike~ Which is a shame :C I'm not fast enough to look through everything and see if I want anything…

BTW, Anyone know if I can just buy a USB C to HDMI and connect my Nintendo Switch to my TV with just the cable or do I HAVE to use the dock?

    • +2

      Dock only, unfortunately!

      • +1

There are reports of a Chinese USBC HDMI dock working, the two Kickstarter projects for portable switch docks appear to use that circuit board. All stock is sold out at the moment unfortunately.

Part of the problem is that it's not a straight USBC HDMI dock. It has a USB hub for the ports on the dock and then the HDMI interface is attached to one of the USB 2 ports on the hub from memory.

        See https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/07/these-crowdfunded-nintend…

        • +2

Nyko have one coming out, would rather take my chances with that than wait for Scamstarter

Honestly I'd be fine with skipping the dock alltogether and just having a 'Y' cable with power and HDMI.

        • @Merlict: yeah the nyko one looks good and includes power adaptor for USD$45 apparently. Seems a little unstable though in the photos.

Y cable would be great but hard to say if games will eventually use the USB ports. These compact docks aren't much bigger than a y cable anyway and I'm happy to pack the original PSU if traveling.

Remember, you should be able to buy before the sale begins and therefore likely any price jacking and then pay once it's begun with the code.

      • So if I commit to buy but do not pay, it will adjust to the new price?

        • +2

The price would be the same, but you could then use the code at checkout to get the discount.

    • Well, to be honest, despite the price hike, there are still plenty good deals with many upvotes from each eBay sale. So I say, let's find something cheap and be happy with it.

    • There's gonna be a new Nyko dock, soon!

    • Apparently Samsung S8 USB-C to HDMI adapters work because they use the same system that Nintendo does. S8s can't use normal USB-C to HDMI adaptors. Search eBay for one that works with the S8 and it should work for the Switch too. The Kickstarter ones are just clones of those available on eBay.

    Search link please.

  • Deals on phones? My xiaomi is dead. Damn

    • How long did you have it for and how did it die?

      • 6 month. It's a xiaomi 5s.
The phone stop turning on feel like a battery issues.

        • -2

same same, xiaomi flagship phone has poor build quality! :(

        • @donkeydoc: Have a Mi 4C and it's coming up two years in August.

Bought my parents two Mi5 and they are both over a year old. That makes it 3 v 2 that lasted over a year. Xiaomi wins…Or you could put it down to use and luck etc, but i think you will find decent backing for their products on here.

        • -2

          @XCelR8:
had a mi5 and mi5s, unfortunately both failed, but no dramas regarding redmi 3, redmi note 3, mi max which I have bought for others!

        • Buy a new battery it's about $30. Try that before giving up on it.

        • @Dionnnn:
Sending it back to gearbeast for warrantee. Waste of postage.

thank you op, was holding back buying a camera with the 10% off but with 20% i just can't say no to it!!

    • What did you end up going for?

      • +2

Got a Nikon d750 refurb for just under 1700. There's a 200 cashback atm so will bring that down to just under 1500.

        • Where from? Ryda?

        • @kiitos: yup last I checked they had a few.

        • @cray: are we sure you get the $200 cashback. i phoned nikon but that told me to send an email and havent got back to me.

        • +1

@kenichi: i emailed the promo team (https://promotions.mynikonlife.com.au/Cashback/ContactUs) and got the following reply:

          D750 Double Cash back
          Purchase period 10th July – 31st July
          https://promotions.mynikonlife.com.au/Admin/Campaign/Details…

*D750 model is eligible in Campaign 1 for $100. However, during period of 10th July – 31st July the D750 (only) is eligible for a double so $200. Purchases of the D750 between 1st June – 9th July = $100

Just did the cashback and it says $200 as well. Awaiting validation and then money should come into my account.

My D750 came with the usual accessories in 2 days and looks brand new, but did not have the original box. Cant tell you the exact shutter count as I dont have an SD card but it says 52 today (I prob took about 30-50 test shots without the card). Oh the one thing that annoyed me is that the battery seems to be an old one, battery age is 3 out of 4, where it should be replaced when it reaches 4.

If you dont mind 1 year instead of 2 years warranty, and it being a refurb this is the cheapest you can get currently even compared to the grey import, after the cashback. If you're traveling overseas this would bring it even lower (the invoice actually states the sale price being $2098.85 with $190.80 GST and not the discounted $1,679.08 that I paid for it). After $200 off I am paying only $1,479.08 for a local Nikon unit with 1 year warranty.

Now I just need to take it overseas within the next 2 months (unlikely) and potentially get an extra $190.80 back, bringing it down to $1288.28 for a full frame!! Cheaper than most entry level DSLRs RRP.. Can someone else please take advantage of this??

        • @cray:

thanks for the detailed reply. now to decide on which lens.

        • @cray:

i just phoned Nikon on 1300 787 190 and they said that the refurb model does not come with cashback of $200.

        • @kenichi: so it's only 100?

        • @cray: they said its not eligible at all…only brand new cameras.

        • @kenichi: that's not what Ryda's website says. I'd give them a call if they refuse my cashback claim, will keep you posted.

        • +1

@cray: goodluck. hopefully it works out. even at $1679 the D750 is cheap.

        • +1

@kenichi: i asked Ryda ebay and this is their response:

New message from: ryda-online Top Rated Seller(4,610Red Star)
We have been advised that they are eligible for the cash back.

          Regards,
          Support

I'll wait and see how it turns out with the cashback, hopefully all good. But yes 1679 is still a decent price.

        • +1

          @kenichi: Email this morning:

          CLAIM APPROVED

Your claim has been approved. Please allow up to 28 days to receive your reward.

Thank you for buying your new Nikon from an Authorised Australian Reseller.

        • @cray:

I also purchased and just picked up.

What did you use as your proof of purchase and receipt number?

Did you use the tax invoice provided in the box? Just want the best chance to get cashback.

        • @kenichi:

Not sure what date is stated on your invoice but the double cashback is only for purchases until end of July. I just checked and received my 200 yesterday.

Yes just use taxa invoice in the box.

        • @cray:

Thanks. Purchased mine in end July. Did your invoice say refurb? Sorry to be a bother. Thanks for the prompt responses.

        • @kenichi: It says Nikon D750 (Body) (Refurb)

        • @cray:

          Same as mine. Cheers.

        • @kenichi:

          Dear Nikon/Ryda,
I had purchased a Nikon D750 and a Nikon 50mm f1.8 from Ryda Online ebay store in full. I have put a cashback claim to Nikon which has now been rejected without reason.

RYDA included the below image as part of the advertising of the promotion. I also believe that the cashback amount had been increased to $200 during the period in which i purchased the item.

          Inline image 2

It is unclear as to why my claim has not been approved? I do not believe that any of the terms or conditions have not been complied with? RYDA also had images of the product with 'cashback' .

Interestingly a friend had purchased the exact same camera from Ryda Online ebay store and had received their $200 cashback so I hope that this is just a mistake.

          Regards,

        • +1

@kenichi: that's odd. Sorry to see you got rejected for the cashback, hopefully you'll get it sorted.

        • @cray:

Finally got the cashback. Thanks for your help .

        • @kenichi: hey good to hear that!!

  • Need a washing machine, got very excited for a second. Shame about retailer list.

  • +2

Ryda sometimes has good deals with codes

  • +1

    K.g often has headphones cheap

  • Not a single Chromecast!

  • What's the best store for a 500GB SSD? I can see Sandisk ones on ShoppingExpress for $230 ($184 after code). Is there a way of searching by the stores that the code works for? I can only seem to go to each store separately and search within..

    • +2

From experience, ShoppingExpress has always jacked up their prices on ebay by about 15%+ compared to their website during the 20% offer.

      • Thanks for this EarlyBird. I just checked their online store and ebay and can confirm the same.

I was after the UPS which on their site is listed for $115 while on ebay its listed as $140

      • Reporting it wont do any good ?

Also do i have to use Click and collect ?

      • Yes the S8 Plus yesterday was about $900 . Now it is about $1000 so bumped up by $100. Yesterday was the 10% off sale and today %20 off so basically the same price with discount. It seems the seller just adjusts prices so the end price is the same but the seller makes more. I suppose ebay is out to help the seller not the buyer are they not.

  • How can we search item within these sellers?
For example I want sd card from these sellers only. Thanks

    • +2

There's a link at the end of the list mate

  • +14
    • I wish I could pos this comment more than once.

    • +2

lmao wtf, its legit a single rubber band, not a bag, not a box, not even dimensions to tell you if it can fit around a car.

  • looking for ps4.. any deals?

    • +1

Nope. No gaming deals all really.

  • -1

    Fitbits?

  • -2

Any deal for a microsoft surface?

  • +8

These ebay "deals" are getting worse and worse. Prices are hiked 17-18% then we're "given" 20% off.

It's such a shame that it devolved into this state. I'm getting to a point where I don't even want to click on ebay links anymore.

  • -1

    MacBook anyone see?

  • +3

Be careful you enter the code correctly and check it worked. Otherwise you'll pay 18% over the odds.
    It happens.
