  • Do these sellers get a heads up the discount is coming because without fail everything I've been watching has increased in price today.

    • +1

They would have to opt in, giving them enough time to schedule their listings should they join in.

  • Can anyone vouch for buymobileau?

    • Was looking at them too, looked at a few reviews on here and Whirlpool. Seem hit or very miss reviews. I'm asking around for luvyourphones now.

edit: just noticed they sell refurbished :(

      • Yeah, I noticed. :(

    • +1

I can, got a macbook from them the next day the sent it.

      • Any issues with your order? I read about a lot of broken seals/wrong products etc.

        • No, Arrived perfect. I was tempted to bite on another macbook but you're scaring me haha

        • @dylanando:Might just be with phones hahaha

      • And how long till you got it? I'm looking to buy a camera, and how's the warranty?

        • They took about a week to send it, Got tracking on a thursday (Hong kong) and received it that friday morning. No clue about warranty, more than likely non existent

    • +1

I jumped on the apple watch from them. Worst case, I paypal refund.

      • The series 1 watches look to be cheaper on the current Big W deal

    • Intending to buy a camera from them but worried about warranty. Page says Australian warranty will be provided but their stock is coming from Hong Kong warehouses..

Son wants a high spec gaming machine.

He thinks http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-8920-Tower-Desktop-7th-G… is of good value.

Can the good folk on ozB who are far more technical than I am please confirm that with 20% off it is a good deal.

    TIA

    • +1

It's been a bit cheaper during the EOFY sales, but it's still a good deal. FTR, they've DROPPED the price of this on eBay for this sale. I'm considering this myself. The GTX 1070 should be plenty great for gaming, but I bet they'll be people on here who will say it's rubbish. Just remember it doesn't include a monitor.

      • +1

Was $2000 last Thursday so price hasn't really gone down

        • +1

Yes they were on sale then, but have since gone back up to for price $2499. On their website too. However, for this eBay sale they have dropped the eBay listing down to $2299.

        • +1

@narcoleptic-haze: not correct, was this price yesterday I have been keeping track of it

        • @Spidermania: I'll add its actually $2049 on their website, under business. Can get it cheaper than ebay if you know the right codes, only by $10 though

    • +1

      yes

    • +2

I would suggest writing down all the specs of that PC, which looks very good. But then purchasing all of the parts separately from msy, and asking them to put it together for you. You will save a few hundred bucks and get a monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse as well. Back in the day Dell, Compaq and HP weren't very reliable, I don't know how they are these days.

      • +1

Thanks for the suggestion, did what you recommended but slightly upspec'd (SSD, single stick of RAM and good case) but does not include W10 total is around $2,100.00

        Motherboard - MSI B250 GAMING M3 $175.00
        CPU - Intel i7-7700 $415.00
        RAM - 16GB Single 3000 Corsair Vengeance LPX $215.00
        GPU - 8G GTX 1070 MSI DUKE OC/ $749.00
        SSD - SanDisk PLUS 480G $280.00
        Hard Drive - Seagate 3.5" BarraCuda 7200rpm $95.00
        Case - Coolermaster 420W PSU N300 $95.00
        Assembly - MSY $70.00

        • +1

Is that 420w PSU going to be enough?

You can save $70 if you build it yourself. It's not hard. Just follow some youtube guides if you aren't sure.

MSY builders are expected to build 2 PCs an hour. They are going to rush this and not put in the love that your PC deserves (by this I mean presentation and cable management). Do it yourself, and do it better.

The hardest part (and it's not really hard) is an aftermarket CPU cooler, but you don't even have one. I only say it's the hardest part because every cooler installs differently and you might have to consult a chinese/engrish manual.

        • $70 assembly?? I'' do it for free if you are in Melbourne. I can also teach you while doing it.

        • +1

$750 for a gtx 1070? Damn son that's a heap. If you've got that much to spend, find the extra $160 and get a gtx 1080ti from Amazon that some other guy linked to above… Will be like twice as fast.

        • You are overpaying on that 1070, they have been sub $500 recently and you can get one in good nic 2nd hand for much cheaper.

  • No Gerry "ebay" Harvey? Booooo!

    ;;;thumbsdown;;;

    /S :p

Has anybody had any experience with buymobileau? Some of the prices look really good.

    • +1

Checked out whirlpool and productreviews yesterday, and sadly they seem hit or very miss. Someone here had no issues though.

  • Has anyone experienced purchasing from sydneytec?

    Thanks in advanced!

  • Grey imports? How's the warranty?

  • Any decent gaming PCs? Budget ~$1500, would love for it to run PUBG, OW etc and be somewhat future proof.

    How about this?

    • +1

Personally I'd be asking for a full list of components before buying it. Could be no name RAM/power supply which will end up costing you in the long run.

      • Will enquire and report back.

  • When I saw the code, I thought it was a deal for gentlemen's club, lol

    • Any deal for gentlemen's club ?

      • I consider going to gentlemen's club as a big deal

  • Any good laptops under 500? Or any recommendations on what to look for.

  • any thoughts on these Dell monitors

    2414H - U2415
    $276 - $340
    16:9 - 16:10
    1929x1080 - 1920x1200

is the extra $64 worth going up to 16:10?

mainly using it for work usage, photoshop, design work, browsing (multiple browsers)

    appreciate the help

    • +1

Usually the U denotes their Ultrasharp range which is usually as good as you get for photo editing before stepping up to Eizo and that kind of thing.

I had a much older U24 and it was a great monitor.

It might have a better range of ports as well.

      • sorry, they are both ultrasharps..

I ended up going for the 16:10. The extra 120 pixels in vertical height apparently makes quite a big difference for productivity

        • It does.

Web sites are designed to be vertical, not horizontal. More vertical height means you can see more of the site on screen at a time. Same with productivity work like Word, Excel, etc.

    • 1200p gives you more resolution and screen real estate, without losing you anything.

Some people hate seeing borders on the top and bottom when watching a movie, but be real. Most movies are wider than 16:9 anyway, so you're still going to get borders.

  • Can someone recommend a modem/router at good price please?

    Thank you for the help.

Hi oz-bargainers, what do you think of this deal, does it work out to be AU $1,359?

    many thanks

    • What's it for? Graphics card isn't going to hold up for gaming.

      • At times to be used for 3D modelling?

        • Look up reviews of the software you're using and RECOMMENDED not minimum card specs. I don't know if that Intel HD card is any good at all for what you want. I've always stuck with NVidia.

    • +1

I'm also looking at this one and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts/comments about these? Don't care about the video card but hoping that the screen is good quality if anyone has used them before?

  • Does anyone have any recommendations on all in one machines with a touch screen? My parents just need a basic box with a big touch screen. TIA.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-24-7000-All-in-One-…

      Pretty expensive however.

AIO touchscreens are pretty gimmicky — you won't really use the touchscreen in Windows that much other than to scroll and click on websites, however desktop websites are built with mouse input in mind, so most likely you revert to using traditional KB/M input either way.

I would just buy a more cheaper AIO like this. The downside with AIO's in general is that they rarely come with the specs you want. This is $800 dollars and only has a 4GB memory DIMM and no SSD.

  • That dell Inspiron is sold by Dell Australia but delivered from overseas. Does that mean that there will be no gst claimable as I'm going OS? Thanks

    • I believe the unit ships from overseas, but you will get an Australian tax invoice.

    • Dell emailed me back. They will email me an Aussie tax invoice.

It's expired now but deals usually come on now and then. I saw two deals on this so far. This laptop doesn't meet your 2 in 1 requirements unfortunately but I urge you to consider it for futureproofing purposes and more enjoyment for your money gamingwise.
