      no
close doors or use the magnetic strips to restrict access.

it will map the house each time it cleans (but doesn't make reference to it for subsequent cleans).

      • Exactly as chl15 says - you can use the magnetic strips to section off areas of the house if you need to.
You'll need to purchase them separately tho as they don't come with it.

  • How does the machine go with dog hair?

    • +2

      Very good.
Just search for this product on the other xiaomi vacuum threads and you'll see other people giving this a thumbs up with dog hair

    • Great with our dogs (and cats). Just gotta empty the bin after each cycle. Had mine for a week. Incredibly impressed after owning a Neato and a number of Roombas.

  • Whats the app functionality like? Is everything in english and translated properly?

    • Yes
      Easily changed.

  • Damn.. i only bought from them yesterday for $377.xx

    • You could ask them to cancel your transaction and rebuy.

  • Thanks, finally decided to get one and it's already marked as shipped.

  • The code PLENTY doesn't work for me.

    • Try selecting Paypal as payment option. It wouldn't let me use the code with Creditcard selected as payment

      • Thanks. I selected Paypal as the payment option but the code still didn't work.
I got "This code can't be applied to your order." error.. :-( But the code C50Z worked.

        • Finally, I bought it! My Ebay account had my previous NZ address!

  • Thanks OP.
Bought one and already for shipping notification from seller.

Now let's hope my wife doesn't kill me for spending money on this.
Time will tell. Maybe I need to buy a gift for her as well and then she will be easier on me.

Does this work in the dark or does it need some light?

    • +1

Works in the dark for me

      • +1

Yes they do except this is a robot that has sensors so it may need light to work

    • It's a fair question as it may confuse dark with a drop (step). I have bathroom vanities that are raised off the ground with no feet (they are attached to the wall) and the vacuum can fit under them. It will not go under them if I have the bathroom light ON because it casts a shadow under the vanity and it thinks it's a step, so I actually have more luck keeping the lights off.

What type of vacuum do you have?

        • Not sure if you've heard of it. I have a little known vacuum cleaner called a Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum. I think I might be able to dig up a link to a deal on one if you're interested?

If you have no stairs you can disable the cliff sensors.

Demmit! First case of OB remorse for me :D …Decided to take the plunge and splashed out on the $367.96 Shopping Square deal just last night. Grrrr…lost out on $8.01!

  • Does this work well in an apartment?

    • Cant see why not. If anything it would finish cleaning quicker seeing it has less floor area to vacuum.

      • Did u own one? So it has to be excellent at dodging obstacles then..? Will it get stuck if there are obstacles on the floor eg.clothes or it will be smart enough to avoid them?

        • +1

The object has to be hard enough to trip a bump sensor. It will not usually detect clothes and may get stuck on them. Mine tried to eat a sock, but when it got stuck in the brush roller, it stopped and sent an error to the app and then patiently waited for me to get home and remove the sock, then it finished the clean.

        • Waiting on mine. From the videos on YouTube i have seen. It does great working its way around obstacles like furniture. Not so great on things like cables or clothes on the floor however. Someones phone charger got yanked out of the socket when it got run over by the vacuum.

But hey. As someone has said its an incentive not to leave cables or clothes on the floor.

Have to say so far my experience with gearbite has been outstanding. I stuffed up my payment and did not have hesitation to give back so I can use the right one. Shipped out that day too. Among other things, it blew me away with the service. Loyalty earned.

  • Bah! I'm buying one but really hope it helps the wife out. She vacuums quite a bit and baby due any day!

    • +4

You mean you don't want to take over so getting a robot to help you ;)

    • +2

We bought one before ours was due. It's a great help.

  • +1

Get it! This vac is amazing! Vouch for seller.

  • +1

Got one from last deal. cannot believe it can got cheaper. Is ebay/paypal has some sort of the price guarantee or something like that if the price dropped in 30 days you can get the difference back?

  • Got this, parents got this from the last two deals. Highly recommend gearbite, fast shipping and got my refund from roboguy too! Winning

    This is a good deal!

  • So is this seller legit and is the stock actually in melbourne?

Keen to avoid the roboguy experience.

    • +2

Seller highly recommended. Speedy dispatch and good communication.

      • +1

Also highly recommended — speedy dispatch and received within a week

    • Bought one two weeks ago. best purchase in a while

    • Yes… best experience so far read me previous comment further up

  • Even though logged in to PayPal still get error message 'Log in to PayPal to use vouchers' what am I doing wrong? Can I still get the discount if I use my credit card?

  • If only I could get my money back from roboguy so I can pay for this, hurry up PayPal!

  • Great timing, I got my Roboguy refund from PayPal this morning jumped on this deal and saved $40l. I can't wait for it to actually arrive. Its funny that the roboguy ship arrived in Melbourne this morning. I'm sure I'll still get my gearbite order faster than I if I'd waited.

    • Vacuums might not even be on this ship.

  • +1

I've had one now for about a month. Man these things are amazing! Mine currently vacuums approximately 120 square meters twice a day! This is the perfect companion to have with young kids! Kids spread the dirt my Mi Robot (Named HAL9000) cleans up automatically after breakfast and in the evening. Has saved soooooooooooooooooo much time.

The only thing I's like to be able to do is input custom voices and custom phrases to make it more like HAL.

  • Anyone have one of these with carpet floors? Would love to hear how it handles.

  • Bought one, thanks OP!

  • OMG… life hack on the robot vacuum hahaha

    https://youtu.be/Dug5za9B4sU

    • use toilet paper. cheaper. filter looks like new.

  • Nothing but praise for this product and this seller. The wife wasn't happy when she saw it arrive a couple weeks ago, but now they've named it Robo and use it all the time.

  • Does it need full time wifi internet? I presume it's needed to get real time updates for the app, but can it run without the internet?

    • +4

It needs full time internet to report back to its chinese overlords so they can monitor you 24/7.

      *wears tin foil hat*

    • +1

Does not new full time net, only need if you need to change to english voice. Once done, works without net. Can even program sceduals…..but will do these on time witout net. Just push power button if you dont set up sceduals.

  • Dumb question but how well does this thing vacuum carpets? Just asking because all mjy rooms are carpetted.

  • While this device would be most attractive to time-poor households, a few niggling questions remain:

    • in terms of durability, how does the device hold up against young children? I can just see my toddler son picking it up like a toy and breaking it as soon as he sees it
    • how well does it perform on shag-pile rugs?
    • what is the cleaning performance like compared to the fantastic German-made Miele C-series vacuums (the best choice for 'manual' vacuums and that which I am used to)?
    • Not advertised kid or pet proof so don't let them touch it.

Shag pile depends on how long but not really. See 4:25 in the video link. https://youtu.be/18So812aZvc

It is not a replacement, it is like a maintenance vacuum. You still need to do a good clean one a while.

  • Finding a spot, out of the way, with half a metre clear space each side of it, close to power point……. according to instructions

  • Very interested in this - however did have queries about loose stuff lying around

I have 3 boys (all under 9) and things like nerf bullets etc and toys are left on the ground. Does this thing simply navigate around?

If not - is it easily retrievable from the dust bin?

How about under tables and through chair legs?

Edit: and what if you change house - does it need "resetting"

Scroll up and look at my youtube referebce links… answers most of your questions

  • Anyone received theirs yet?

    • Not in WA yet. Not expected till end of the week.

      • Strange, according to Tracking number, Austpost received and approved the shipping information on Monday, but has not picked it up yet.

        • Mine went from vic fo nsw on the 20-21. Might now be on a truck across the nullabor. Nor everything gets flown I guess.

        • Same for me. "Shipping information approved by Australia Post" on Monday morning but nothing further since then.

        • +1

Wouldn't it be irony that if the most of the shipments come from Roboguys groupbuy deal, who has most of the unwanted xiaomi robot cleaner in Australia :-)

Well, at least that ship docked in Melbourne, fingers crossed.

        • Same for me. I've messaged them but no reply yet. Edit: just got a reply saying last shipments should go out today.

        • @andrew1879: Mine was finally sent this afternoon (after I contacted the seller).

        • @andrew1879:

Mines on it's way too. ETA tomorrow

        • Got an email this afternoon from Auspost to expect delivery tomorrow.

      • Yep. Mine has information received and approved by Auspost.

Apparently they ran out and a new shipment came in yesterday -_-

    • Nope, though in transit from Tuesday morning at 'Ardeer, VIC'

      Way quicker than rob-u-guys orders

    • Received it this morning. Working great so far.

    • Ordered Friday at 1.30pm, arrived Tuesday morning. Loving it!!!

    • +1

Mine still just says shipping information received. Estimated click and collect date was meant to be today.

    • Ordered Sat and due today. Still stick on 'Processing' on auspost tracking like a few others here. Emailed them this morning and reply was:

      hi

sorry about that! we check your order is print out order on 22/7, but we need handle time is 3 day, we will send out today, we are sorry for any inconvenience.

  • +2

Looks like these guys didn't have enough stock again. Not sure why they sell more than they have? I bought mine not long after they posted here, it was supposedly sent on Friday or Monday so I was expecting this to arrive today as the eBay listing said, will be leaving negative feedback if I don't receive it this week. Tracking hasn't showed any movement.

    • "will follow up today, we have many orders last weekend, all order has been process, but we may have 20 unit short. New stock arrive yesterday, wait for Auspost pick up, we order extra van from post office today. If you do not receive update today, please let me know."

      • That was their response during the previous deal I think. You'd think they would have learnt to keep their customers happy. I'll be away from home for a couple weeks from Friday.. there won't be anybody around to collect this. How annoying :(

        • could be worse…..could be roboguy

their details here did say 280 units available, but i guess their ebay listing makes no mention of what happens when their local stock runs dry

  • +1

"Hi, First batch of 280 cartons was ship out before Wednesday. If you order not in this 280 cartons, item will packed and ship out tomorrow, we work hard to get items ship out ASAP. We received lots orders since this deal. We change handling time to 3 business days. We print out all orders as we do have all stocks ready this week. You order should in second batch. If you still not receive any update tomorrow, please let me know. Really Sorry for any inconvenience. Best regards Sam "

this is the reply i got. not impressed …

    • +1

You have to give them some slack cause I sure they are going as quick as they can with the amount of orders they are processing over the 280. People still got to have food and break time. At least they replied compared to someone else.

      • slack would be deserved if they had bothered to communicate this with buyers instead of pretending everything got shipped out (shipping label notifications were sent sunday). i shouldnt have to chase them up

    • Thanks for sharing. If I don't see any progress with auspost tracking by COB tomorrow I'll be complaining then. I placed my order on Saturday 22 Jul.

      • tracking updated to say the package has been picked up. Should arrive by Monday.. Now it's up to auspost to deliver in a timely manner

        • We know how prompt auspost is. So you know the answer to that.

  • +1

No movement yet on my order tracking either, Ebay delivery day is tomorrow, so will see how things go.

  • I got my delivery today in Sydney. Was shipped out from Melbourne on last Friday.

Excellent seller and he responded to my question almost immediately. I am tempted to buy another one from this seller for my parents. Just waiting for the next 15% ebay deal.

  • Ordered last friday. Arrived today. -_-

  • Arrived yesterday for me

  • Ugh, so I sent gearbite a message to find out where my package is because the tracking details are vague and magically the tracking is updated to show that it was sent from their warehouse in Vic, but only just today!

I should have received it by today in Brisbane. I'm not sure how they expect a good review for this type of service.

For anyone else who hasn't received theirs I would double check with them to make sure they send it, otherwise they could just delay it further.

  • Ordered last Friday 21/7. Mine was marked as shipped on 22/7, estimated to arrive on 26/7, the tracking now shows it was only picked up from sender on 28/8 and is still sitting in VIC. Disappointed.

    • Looks like you missed out on that first batch like I did. I ordered last Saturday and it was only picked up on Friday.

  • Got mine today, love it!!

  • Received mine today, it's busy doing its job as I post this. It took much longer to arrive than stated and I heard something in the news that Aus Post parcel deliveries were delayed for a few days last week due to Australian Customs monitoring and working on some huge drug bust(?).

Has anyone installed the MiHome app from Xiaomi Inc? I downloaded (Android) and there is no option to select Australia as a locale and unable to do anything more with it? Wanting to see if I can change the sweeper's audio output to English.

    • +1

To change the audio output, go to settings > voice pack > English.

      • +1

Thanks, finally managed to work it out after successful registration.

  • Just collected mine tonight. Instructions are entirely in Chinese. Now to try and find some English instructions so i can figure out how to use this "fandangled contraption"
