  • Looking for a reliable unit with Android auto/apple carplay, any recommendations ?

  • Any idea what's the installation cost?

    • You'd find people who offer this service on Gumtree, if you like to live dangerously. Installation costs would depend on whoever you decide to go with.

Do it yourself. It's really not hard. You just need an iso fitted to your car's plug (google is your friend) to universal adapter. To maintain steering wheel controls, you just add a steering wheel control link. It's really simple.

I paid $120 for labour only to have this and a reversing camera installed.

Depending on your car you may need to get a facia kit. I bought mine off eBay.

If you are doing it yourself, you will need to add in the cost of wiring harnesses (as mentioned by blergmonkeys) and any special tools required to remove the existing head unit.

Even though this head unit lacks a CD player, it is still double-DIN sized at the back.

Can I use it as a home hi fi or will it sound 'tinny'?

There's nothing stopping you from doing this, but you'd need so many other bits n pieces (transformer, custom housing etc) that I don't think it makes much sense to do it.

  • Forgive the silly question but I assume this would be fine for iPhone music playback and calls?

    • I have one of these installed in a Mazda 626.

Yes, it works fine for iPhone music playback, via Bluetooth or plugged in. For Bluetooth, it needs to be on the Bluetooth page and the music stops if you go to the home screen.

For calls, I find the audio a little soft so I have to crank it up a bit. You will need to install the included microphone on the windscreen pillar.

  • No AM radio..??

I got a feeling there might be a few deals popping up with current 'Pandora functionality' over the coming weeks.. :)

    • May I ask what makes u think that?
I have been waiting for a good double din headunit that won't cost an arm to upgrade to.

      • With Pandora pulling out of Australia most manufacturers with units that have a dedicated Pandora button will be looking to upgrade their units meaning all the current models will be heavily discounted (hopefully)…

In a lot of cases this is just a software update but you never know…

(eg this unit has Pandore written on the front of the unit)

    • It has AM radio.
