Enjoy if you're interested. Feel free to ask any monitor questions below, as I have explored all available options recently from cheap Korean 24" 144hz panels all the way up to 35" inch ultra-wides but decided that this deal was best for me as IPS isn't that big of a deal when you can save this much and get all the added bonus features.

    Damn, TN and FreeSync.
Still waiting on a cheap 144hz 1440p IPS G-Sync monitor.

    • Same!

    • +17

The word cheap and g-sync don't belong in the same sentence together.

    • +1

Going to be waiting a LOOOOONG time

    • Pardon my ignorance. I was under the impression that G-sync is not that important on monitors with such high refresh rates?

      • G-sync will eliminate tearing and smooth unstable framerates.

        • +1

But wouldn't it only tear at frame rates more than 144FPS?

        • +2

          @jackwoz:

these freesync/gsync is even more needed on monitors with high refresh rates as the chances of your GPU keeping to that 144hz is less likely compared to traditional 60hz.

tearing happens when your FPS does not equal the monitor's refresh rate. over or under. also having lower FPS than monitor refresh rate you will encounter increased input lag. thus, freesync/gsync alleviates some of this input lag and makes it feel smoother even at a lower FPS.

          @jackwoz:

Nope. Tearing occurs whenever the refresh rate of the monitor doesn't match up with the output framerate.
Check out this forum post I found

@jackwoz: I was looking into this recently but didn't see much on the topic in the brief check I did. At 144hz I'd imagine there would be little opportunity to notice a tearing screen.

          Edit: thanks for the info

Get yourself a nice calibration on the TN panel settings from Toms Hardware (link below) and wait for Vega while you save at least $200 on the 'cheap' 144hz G-Sync dream.

      • Thanks for the link, cheers

    • This is Adaptive Sync and not Free Sync monitor. As Adaptive Sync works on both AMD and Nvidia cards. https://www.pcpowerplay.com.au/review/aoc-agon-ag271qx-27in-…

    • I have the AOC AGON AG271QG 165HZ GSync IPS monitor. I got it for $800 last ebay sale from Futu Online. I thought I saw that same monitor being offered by (this same) Shopping Express outlet ebay store for around $760 or $780 yesterday but it seems to have disappeared? That seems to be about as good as it gets.

      • Damn. Thanks for the info eitherway.

    • I don't know how many times I've read this exact line on the internet.

  • Beware according to the Amazon reviews, this monitor is known to have major backlight bleed issues.

  • Bloody monitor died yesterday and looking for a new one, but bit of a novice on this stuff.
Running an MSI GTX 1080 card and would like at least a 27" size.
Ex semi pro photographer who still edits and I game a lot with shooters and games like 7 Days To Die and Planet Coaster.

Should I jump on this as I really need something now or is there better options for my requirements… Up to $700.00

    Thanks everyone.

I think an ex semi pro photographer would need an IPS display, or am i wrong?.

      • -1

I think an ex semi pro photographer would know what kind of panel is right

        • Yep, totally agree. However…
I really don't want to explain my personal circumstances here in public as to why I don't know now, but I just help with the info please.
          Would not have asked otherwise.

A better option in your case would be a ips panel. For 700$ you can get a decent 4K panel that would be better for your editing. Gaming would be decent too. A 1080 would run 4K pretty well. Look around there should be a 4K that has a 98% ( higher better) colour reproduction rating or better that would work for you.

      Aoc 4K

Or Samsung Asus lg etc etc all make good panels, just steer clear of Phillips.

  • Noob here. How do you actually apply the 20% discount?

  • Have this monitor, it's great imo, no problems with it so far.

Oh all ye screen aficionados. Been out of the game for a while, Does anything exist with a mainstream price in the 32-34 inch space with many hertz and any of these wizzbang new sync technologies? Happy to look at cheap and cheerful korean noname if required.
