This is probably a RRP price, but to me this seems Pretty cheap for a 144hz 1ms monitor (Price at Scorptech is $329). might interest some, I'm not sure of shipping costs, hopefully this interests someone :)

Unfortunately, you forgot to take into account shipping, which is pretty expensive. It's about + US $55 to ship to NSW.

  • some odd review for this monitor on amazon where some complaining about:
-no 144hz via hdmi only 60hz
    -no display port
-no drivers for windows 10 so ppl locked to 60hz due to windows recognizing it as generic monitor
    -some with dead pixels
-this dude complaining about 144hz only working with 1600 X 900 and under

no 144hz via hdmi on 60hz

That's because HDMI doesn't do 144hz. See table at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_comparison

My Korean X-star LCD monitor (which is basically a cheap no-name generic) also has the same limitations — no Displayport, so you use the DVI port instead.

monitors also don't need drivers to work. You just need drivers for your Nvidia / AMD hardware and a relatively new card that can push out 144hz display.

The people pointing this out probably haven't read the manual or know the limitations of HDMI interface.

      • The people pointing this out *have no damn idea what they're doing or talking about and shouldn't be posting reviews*

        FTFY

Too many valid complaints. Typical Acer. Good luck with their returns system when it fails.

Well I messed up , sorry lads

Centrecom has it on a special price of $319
    https://www.centrecom.com.au/acer-gn246hl-24-full-hd-freesyn…

    • That doesn't include delivery though.

      • It's in store only so no delivery cost.

      • But it does have local Australian warranty. Take that into consideration when factoring in the price. So you could buy the one from Amazon for $320 and have no local warranty and if it's DOA you have to ship it all the way back to Amazon in the USA at considerable expense, or buy from Centrecom for $319 and have local warranty.

or buy from Centrecom for $319

          …plus delivery

        • @jv:

It's in store only in the Centrecom deal so there's no delivery there. It's so good if you live in Melbourne.

It's so good if you live in Melbourne.

          That goes with saying…

    • $329 free delivery from PLE
      https://www.ple.com.au/Products/627680/Acer-GN246HL-24-Full-…

Seems to be the standard price though, so no deal really.

  • check out ebay korean monitors for 144hz.

    • can you post some examples please?

Is that a recommendation for actual monitors, or some weird new fetish site?

      • +2

This monitor is $329 every day at multiple Australian PC shops. So you're not exactly saving a heap of money on this monitor from Amazon, a whopping $9 saving and you're obviously losing any local warranty buying it from Amazon. An extra $9 gets you local warranty.

  • I'm quite sure that this monitor is a quite old model, i'm sure this is the model which i bought years ago from Dick Smith. It's probably why it only has DVI and HDMI. Displayport didn't exist on monitors when this particular monitor was designed and first came to the market. To tell the truth i think $320 is quite over priced for this now.

    • Monitors have had DisplayPort since '08/09.

      • Well ok my error. This particular model wasn't designed with DisplayPort in any case.
