did a quote for 8 days in Japan for 1 adult and got quoted $88

    did a comparison quote with:
    TID (comprehensive) for $69
    World2Cover was stupidly expensive
    AusPost with TRAVEL10 10% discount was $88

The TID insurance included a great deal more coverage - e.g. $4000 rental car excess coverage. adding that to QBE or Auspost travel insurance doubled the price.

For me, TID wins hands down as best value for money/coverage, etc. it's cheaper and covers far more.

    Disclaimer:
always read the PDS for each policy before choosing which is most appropriate for your travel insurance needs.

I recently bought travel insurance and I checked between a few different options also. I've previously gone with TID but this time I went with Southern Cross travel insurance. They were cheaper and had more coverage than TID. Could just be the trip I'm taking, but worth a look if you're in the market.

    • AusPost is a reseller of CoverMore, but I believe with lessor coverage. Often it is cheaper to take out coverage direct from CoverMore for better coverage and slightly cheaper.

    • Well, if you dont mind the 2000 car rental excess limit, the essential plan is only 51.6 with QBE. if you go with the international plan more expensive then it got 5000 car rental excess.

40% off some inflated price is still expensive. this is fraudulent.

QBE quote: $196, RACWA quote: $143, what I really wanted (rental car excess cover) $49.

    • Hella expensive? Yes. I don't see how it's fraudulent though?

    • They have a number of different types of travel insurance. Bare essential is the cheapest if you after cheap. The benefit is going with one of the largest insurance company in the world. I use them every year for my travels.

Like AIG? What could possibly go wrong?

It's not cut and clear with this QBE website. it's designed more for travel agents and people who has been brief about their products. when you compare the benefits from QBE with different insurance companies they would look more premium. People don't really care about the percentage of discounts these days anyway. The final price is what determine whether a product is worthy.

    • I agree. Comes out about the same price of Southern Cross whom I have claimed form before no problems.

  • What is the excess for QBE domestic? When I got a quote it did not say, except some parts have no excess, and some do.

  • Sensational price of $44 for 12 days Thailand. Thanks op. I messed up my free travel insurance thru my Credit Card.
