They've got a cheap $99 'Fixie' too: https://www.anacondastores.com/cycling/bikes/urban-bikes/flu… … but seeing as it clearly has brakes I'd say it's actually Single Speed but with a flip-flop rear hub allowing it to work either way.

hi guys are these any good as a starter bike? I'm looking for one for my wife so our family of 4 can go cycling together.

    • Same gnoks. I am looking for a starter bike too. Not sure how these rate with price/quality. Will wait for some comments. Thanks

All depends what kind of riding you expect do on it but if it's only easy paths, roads and park type grass then yes one of these would be perfect. Keep it as simple as possible and stay away from the suspension forks as they'll just cause problems and add weight. Try to keep it out of the weather otherwise the cheap components will quickly show signs of age. It's amazing what a very basic bike will allow you to do so for simple weekend type path riding there's really no need to get anything more than a steel frame and a few gears IMO. Shame Anaconda doesn't seem to sell anything except derailleur geared or single-speed bikes though.

      • easy park, roads and parks are exactly what we'll be doing especially since we will be having a 4 and 6 year old cycling along with us. ok sounds like it may be the go here.

The bike will be kept probably in our garage I guess if it has to be kept out of the elements as the other option would be the patio which is exposed.

Agreed, the handlebars, crank arms, hub & spokes are steel, so these will rust easily if not looked after.

I'm not a fan of twist shift gear changing, but for this price you can't really complain. Also 700c wheels are an added bonus for a less bumpy ride.

If you care to do some research & want to learn about bikes, you can always buy a something better 2nd hand for this kind of money. Look for brands like Giant, Trek, Specialized & Merida.

      a. Commuter style is a perfect all-rounder. (Not sure why people buy bulky mountain bikes for general usage)

      b. This is a decent model. Anaconda bikes are okay. Half of RRP is what you should consider "normal" price, so you are saving $100.

      I suggest to buy it.

  • Bike noob here, but is it possible to mount a bike rack and child rear seat on these commuter bikes? Looking at getting a bike to take my 2-3yr old son around in the rear. Anybody know what weight these bikes are? Thanks

    • The child seats have a pretty standard fitting that suits most bikes. The standard child seat has a 20kg limit though so you'll need to weigh tiger.

Oversized 6 $149.99 National flat charge per item

Wow, only makes sense with c&c

  • I picked up a Fluid MTB for my son, we recently took on some medium to hard MTB tracks and the bike just flew. If you are sticking to the roads then these are great starter bikes.

  • frame size only goes to 21", so not great for taller people

  • $200. Wow. I think usually they only go 50% off.

Anyone know if the framing is double butted?

Welcome to OzBargain, keep up the great work!

  • Over $200 for delivery for me on two bikes.
No option to click and collect. That's a deal breaker for me.

  • Was going to write up a quick review, I bought the Comfort model yesterday for $199, as they didn't have the Commuter model in the size I wanted.
But the price has gone up to $479, so not so much of a bargain now
