Just wondering…do people really take up offers like this where they have no idea what they may be getting…

edit: hmm, found this previous thread regarding similar "give-aways": http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/28929

I did buy one of these "random" item type sales from catch of the day, waste of money. All i got was crap.
Will admit the crap was worth more then what i paid, but still useless crap to me!

Ah but people are missing the point here.
The items might make you go ಠ_ಠ…
But you're essentially paying for the 'mystery'.

'Mystery' of getting crap or crappier crap :p

      • Yeah, definate piece of crap.
Crappy in-ear headphones that sounded worse than the free ones you get with the $2 pocket random-channel radios you get from the reject shop + some light on a hair-remover, that doesn't pull out hair easily (cause it wasn't made well)
Never wasting my money on this crappy site again.

some junk again, like the last time.

    junk!!!!!

  • Yeah, I agree with the general consensus here. I'm 1/4 on these sorta things, got screwed on the last couple! First time was with 1day.com.au, got a kinda ok video camera for ~$11, probably worth ~$25 most places, so 1x minor win! ;)

Next two times though was once with these guys, $5 shipping got me a pretty dodgy plastic iphone belt-case; then a double whammy with COTD; $14.95 mystery box had a couple of mediocre but cheap items, and a few bits of utter junk, damaged crap basically. Then a random ipod touch case turned out to be a frickin iphone case, useless to me, got a touch but not a bloody phone!

Yeah, they're all apologetic & stuff, but I don't have the time to muck around sending crap back, sourcing a camera & taking photos of damage, playing frickin email tag with them, easier just to cut my losses & not bother again! :(

Bear in mind, we've just had a new iphone release, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to get a load of cheap, crappy iphone 3g/gs cases here! :p

I am over these. I've bought five of these 'mystery' boxes/items from 5 different online shops. The best I can say that is that I just got value for my money (not that I really needed what I got) and at the worst I have thrown my money away. Let's face it - these 'offers' are just a way for retailers to unload junk instead of taking it to the tip.
