72HR Expedia Flash Sale (10-40% off)

230

Anyone looking for accomodation may want to check out the Expedia Flash Sale, unfortunately ends today. Some decent deals especially for anyone that booked flights during the peak Cherry Blossom period in Japan where the hotel prices go up.

Also don't forget Cashrewards up to 5.5% cashback as well.

See examples below for date range of 26th March to 1st April in Tokyo. I've never been to any of these and am just listing them so you have some idea of the discounts on offer. Note price listed is if you are logged in as member of Expedia (you save more as a member on the sale price).

Shinjuku Granbell $1191 (was $1534)

Shinjuku Washington Hotel $1169 (was $1241)

Don't forget to use the mastercard code for a further 12% off
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/291166

    • doh! I did forget that one too.

    • Is there anyway to search for participating hotels?

I found that the place i was booking didn't accept the mastercard code.

There were a couple of deals kicking around that may stack with this…for getting and using a code with Mastercard, and also for Amex.

  • I booked when they had a 10% amex coupon, was cheaper if not the same.

These deals are not great deals imo

  • Nothing for Queenstown NZ ?

    • I don't know what dates you are going. Just did October 2017. You can adjust the dates on this link here

I found when searching Expedia through CashRewards link that the prices were higher and it was cheaper not to use it.

  • Ive stayed in E hotel Higashi shinjuku was ok good location but abit of a shoebox

  • Is it 10-40% off everything or just select hotels?

    • select hotels only. not much transparency with the hotels which have the 10-40% off tbh, so not the best deal, (besides the hotels the OP has listed above ofcourse).

  • Will this work on flights?

    • Nope, just hotels. From my search anyway.

yeah nothing special. Some are cheaper on other sites

    • would you mind sharing which ones? thanks

      • All these sites have these supposed sales. Here's the one for hotels.com: https://au.hotels.com/hotel-deals/global48hour-au They happen every week. But just use a comparison site to compare prices.

        • thanks jdogg, so what do you mean by comparison site? I thought that's what expedia is…

        • @homersyd:
No its just an online travel agency. Try hotelscombined.com

        • @jdogg: thanks mate will check it out :)

I would also suggest to shop around.

I compared a 3-5 hotels in Paris and saw they were cheaper or the same price as Agoda, TripAdvisor, Trivago. I wasn't able to find one single hotel on Expedia that was genuinely discounted.

I think it's just another marketing tactic, let's just hope other channels don't do this and just increase normal prices, or show a % off based on RRP prices ….

Yes definitely look around. For me it worked out cheaper than other sites. As always on Ozbargain YMMV.

I get an email from Expedia every day or 2 saying I am entitled to 50% off hotels etc.

So the 10-40% isn't really anything to write home about.

    • +3

I wrote about it at work :)
