  • Any recommendation for a NDS emu?

      DraStic is fantastic.

      • That's drastic

      • Happy Chick emulator is crazy good but the permissions it asks for scare me. Still though it'll emulate anything, works with controllers, has speed boost, no ads, downloads ROMs from within the client and supports GameShark codes.

      • Thanks! Now if you'll excuse me, I have some unfinished business with Phoenix Wright to attend to.

  • This looks very similar to the 'abandonware' version I've had for a number of years. That, I think, the original creator just released for free. I have 4 .APK files, that were NES, SNES, Gameboy Advance and one other. From memory.

    • Any idea of the name? I would love a good snes emulator on android

      • I'll have to look for the .APK files when I'm home, I think I can make it available to you directly. If you like.

        • Thanks rumbaar!

        • @rememberme: Found the files, they're around 200-600kb each. NES, SNE, GBC and GBA. How would be the best method to send to you?

  • I really don't understand how they can get away with charging for emulators, you'd think that would invoke the wrath of the companies above…

    • +1

Emulation itself (at least in the US where the companies in questions would be) has been proven to be legal in the court system. It's the downloading of ROMs which is considered as copyright infringement.

Although emulators are primarily used for piracy, the emulator itself is not illegal and there are legitimate uses (e.g. playing your own ROMs which you have dumped or playing "homebrew" ROMs).

So all y'all are stoked on getting this for free? Are you like unaware of the countless other ones out there for free? You're all clearly into emulation, you'd think you'd know how to search for an NES emulator on the store from that.

Or does this do something the endless supply of other ones don't?

  • Most emulators are probably the same but guess you would need to try them all to find your preference. But from all the free ones I've seen or used, they all contain ads, so if this emulator does what you need, then having no ads and not needing to pay for the app is a win.

  • Personal preference, but retroarch is always free and will emulate just about any old console you can think of if you download the core (also free, from within the app).

  • constant lurker rare commentator but when it comes to playing NES roms my vote goes to JNES

i've been a huge fan since win xp days killing time keeping sane whilst working call centre related bs.

JNES has been available win 32 & 64 flavors as well as android, completely free.

Best NES emulator in my opinion, tweakable options, save game at any stage and also allows for Game Genie / Action Replay codes.

Google is fickle allowing app on play store, I would snap it up there as well as official website.

    Play store:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jabosoft.s…

    Official website

    www.jabosoft.com

I am not affiliated with JNES in any way or form, I know its installed on all of my Droid Tv boxes & the cheat codes from Game Genie/Action Replay is the icing on the cake. Love it. Enjoy.

  • People actually pay for emulators these days? Sad times.
