OrtoCare, a mechanic and service station is shutting down Thursday due to new apartments being built there and being unable to compete with the big chains. They need to clear out the tanks so are offering discounted petrol at 99.9c/lt for Unleaded, 59.9c/lt for LPG and 119.9c/lt for diesel.

The station opens at 6:30AM and closes at 5:30PM.

Current fuel prices in Victoria are around $1.11/lt for unleaded, $1.25 for diesel and 65c/lt for LPG. 7/11 fuel lock can't beat these prices. Coles is way more expensive than anywhere else.

    Can only imagine the line..

Good price though, but have seen better!

I'd be hesitant due to the potential sediments in the tank.. Sure that's what filters are for, but price isn't really worth.

    • you honestly believe they don't get mixed around when refilling tanks now?

      • Depends on how empty the tank is. They'd soon sink to the bottom anyway.

        • as the pickup is on the bottom….you can assume it gets sucked up all day every day =)

Sigh, my local servo when I lived in John St and one of the dwindling number of places that filled gas bottles soon to be more awful apartments…

  • Sad

They need to clear out the tanks

Not sure I'd want to risk damaging my car with the sludge at the bottom of the tank, just to save 10 cents per litre…

  • Great price but hate to purchase an apartment there without knowing if the sites contaminated.

    • Why would it be contaminated?

    • With all the red tape and green tape these days they will have to provide an expensive decontamination report from a consultant, complete with photographs and soil test results.

      • I sure as hell hope so…

        • Otherwise the site will stay on the contaminated land register and they can't build on it.

        • @inherentchoice:

Old petrol stations are notorious for serious contamination: lead, toluene, benzene, kitty litter etc.

Here is an article that i haven't bothered reading, but i'm sure it says something useful.

  • LPG was 51.9c at shepparton 3 days ago, local areas about 54 now…

Oh wow - my family used to own this very service station!!
I grew up pumping petrol for the customers there and working in the shop.
My dad was the mechanic there.

Not surprised they are selling up, it's a decent corner block and would be worth serious $$$ to developers

  • Gaawwd you have service stations closing down whereas in Perth they just keep pumping them out. Sadly we are a city of shopping centres within k's of each other and servos within 100m of each other

Yet you are all so far behind the times that everything closes at 5pm.

      • Not wrong.

  • Umm, is this where I brag about 89.9c / L for E10 last night?
