Good price Sydney to Dallas. I'd definitely go that route next time and give LA and SF a wide berth (unless you wan to hit the theme parks.

    • Surely it depends on where in the US you wanted to go?

    • What's wrong with SF? Was there a couple of months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

LA I could have done without.

SF Bay is breath taking for sure. Beautiful. But otherwise the stench of marijuana in public places especially throughout the CBD and down to wharf (especially when compounded with rain its like a rotting stench, we heard american tourists also commenting at it so wasnt just us noticing), streets were not that clean by western standards when we were there, incredible amounts of homeless people (i've never seen so many in a western country) a few of which can be a bit stalkerish or even abusive (we had one very confronting experience smack bang opposite union square). We explored quite a bit on foot and spent a full day on bikes as well so we got right out and about. I agree the beauty of the bay made it worth it but otherwise for a state and a city that overtly acts like it's the beacon of progressive society well we'd beg to differ. Get in and get out as soon as ticked your boxes IMO, explore the coast line and the theme parks in Anaheim, head inland… go to Vegas. But as they say one mans trash so YMMV :)

        • I couldn't disagree more, loved SF. Didn't notice the weed smell but I don't have a problem with it anyhow.

        • Don't know why you're getting downvoted, Downtown SF has some pretty sketchy streets, some visitors might never see the issue but it's there. The hotel we stayed in gave us a map detailing with streets to avoid.

Edit: I'd still visit SF, it's got to much to offer not to but there's definitely sketchy parts.

        • Completely agree. I thought SF bay was lovely to look at and loved Alcatraz BUT the city itself is dirty with homeless everywhere. My husband and I did not feel safe walking at night even in downtown and we were told by locals to hold our cameras and phones close when we were on the tram in the centre of town!!! We were approached there too! Seriously glad we didn't have our kids with us.

Oh and we love the USA and have been all over. SF is prob the worst city we've been in - felt less safe than Vegas!

        • @diannesa: Lol.

        • @ndenham: Yeah for the record I didn't downvote

I feel like you are being naughty posting Qantas deals "emirates777"

    • haha. I should really change my username. But I can't be bothered :)

  • Anyone know how to check what class if we book from non qantas website?
So i can check how much points/status can be earned. (Probably minimal if it's discounted economy and no chance to request upgrade to business?)
    Thanks

    • its spelt out under frequent flyer notes.

If not message me the dates you want to travel and I will have a look for you :)

  • I didn't realize we needed special cables for fast charging? Is this only for QC3+ speeds?

  • Has anyone on here booked through CheapOair? They are like $600 cheaper than Qantas and other Australian websites for the time I want to go.

    • Yes i've used them, be SURE to CONFIRM EVERYTHING as they will not refund in anyway.

  • Decent value! Too bad I need flights SYD>SFO for september… dam school holidays!
