Lenovo Y700 17.3" FHD Gaming Laptop Core i7-6700HQ GTX960M-4GB $1275 delivered
nice one
I have no idea why they even bother putting in a 128GB SSD. 256GB should be the standard. Probably have just enough room to install a few games max on the 128GB.
+1 basically a useless size
Cos it has a spare 2.5" bay for you to chuck a HDD in.
You only need 128GB for the OS and software so that everything boots up instantly.
Everything else you chuck on the HDD.
Right now you can get a 2TB for $84 delivered, and then you'll have a spare enclosure as well.
Can anyone else confirm this? My sister really wants a laptop for light gaming/Sims 4 mainly. Would need more space then the 128GB though
Yes you can add extra hdd or sdd
Awesome. Now to sell my sister on it.. Lol
So the 128GB SSD is a M2 slot and can be left alone and put a 1TB 2.5 inch HDD in.
Yes and yes.
@Viper8:
That's not true.
From Lenovo website, it says
"128 GB Solid State Drive, SATA3"
Only the 256GB and 512GB are M2 slot.
I got a response from the seller that stated it is a 128GB M.2
Excellent machine for Microsoft word.
not really, only gets 60fps @ 1080p. lowering the res doesnt help. pretty bad.
I can't wait for Clippy to make a comeback on Office 8k pro. Forget Crysis, being able to fully render Clippy will be the new benchmark for a passable system!
Any i7 models?
Wowsers, thought I got a good deal when the first one was posted a few weeks back, and it keeps getting posted as a better deal!
The specs on this device for the $ are fantastic, if this is your budget for a laptop you probably can't do better regardless of your requirements.
The CPU is really fast for a laptop, a quad core i5. 8GB is standard but you can upgrade easily. 128GB is small, but it's super fast and ideal for the OS installation and you can pop in a HDD in the spare HDD bay. The 1080p screen is IPS anti-glare, which is great at this price as many are TN panels. The 1050Ti is a very decent gaming card, I have the slower 960m and enjoy the latest games running smoothly, yes not Ultra or Very High settings, but they still look good on High settings at 1080p on a 15" screen.
Very keen to pull the trigger on one of these. Love to get a laptop that can play movies in all their glory.
Torn between these two options. Is it worth paying extra for 17.3"?
My usage habits: I'm not much of a gamer, but I'm a heavy internet user: 10+ Chrome tabs (with plenty of Youtube) + Word + Excel will all be open at once and I hate the lag I currently suffer.
(I'm still on my 1st gen X1 Carbon…14" is fine for travelling, etc - and it will remain my travel laptop but I feel it's battling to keep up with the processing I need).
Not worth the extra for 17.3" IMO. Huge downgrade going from the 1050Ti to the 960m, but you do get an (older) i7 if hyper-threading matters to you.
Well the stock run out kinda left me with no decision. Thanks for your input though!
Any other comparable deals out there?
For another $83, you can get what looks to be an identical laptop (directly from Lenovo), here.
@donnot: In the end, that's what I did. With Cashback, the difference was only $20. I can live with that for what seems like a pretty strong offer.
@StToffee: have you received order confirmation ? Mine is still waiting to be 'reviewed'.
@Skids andy: Yep, got it. Any news for you?
Damn that's strange I haven't received anything :/ I put in 2 orders one Thursday and one on Friday.
Through cashrewards though, I wonder if that has anything to do with it ?
Code no longer working for me on any purchases
Stock gone
pretty sweet price :)
