          @CVonC:

If it's a buy it now then it probably won't make a difference to them.

Do you think eBay pays your relisting fee? What about the shortfall between what it was selling for and what it ends up selling for?

        • +1

          @Maverick-au:

It's free to relist when the item doesn't sell. And like I said it was probably a buy it now at that price and considering the timing of the deal, unlikely it was an auction.

But the item did sell! So you have to pay to relist it. If it was BIN you may have to drop the price if watchers have gone elsewhere and purchased because your item sold. I've had this problem before with pricks that don't pay, by the time you go through the waiting period, file the claim and wait for the outcome you've lost a few weeks and the market has changed and you get 20% less.

        • +1

          @Maverick-au:

You can relist a cancelled item for free if it's still under your quota for the month.

And if you've used up your 40 free listings you have to pay so it's not free like you keep claiming.

        • +1

          @Maverick-au:

I won't cancel a purchase for that reason or pretty much any other especially if it's the only item and the listing was ended.

I doubt you were the seller, so take a big breath, relax - that's right - and out.

Not everyone's a prat Mavis, which is the main reason the world isn't a bigger basket case than it already is.

        • @AngryChicken:

Not everyone's a prat Mavis, which is the main reason the world isn't a bigger basket case than it already is.

Most sellers won't cancel a sale on ebay for good reasons.

I've had a number of people request a cancellation and I've put through a buyer requested a cancellation and the pricks have ignored the email asking them to confirm it which ties up your money and delays a refund of the FVFs etc and of course you can't relist it until ebay has confirmed the cancellation.

If someone doesn't want to go through the purchase now I just wait four days and file a claim with ebay.

Try selling on ebay for a while and you'll realise that so many buyers are unreasonable, rude and stupid.

        • @Maverick-au:

Oh, then i take everything back except the 'Mavis' bit.

        • +1

          @Maverick-au:

FFS man. I stated it would be free, you stated that it wouldn't be at all, then I backed it up with the fact that it would be free if you were still under quota.

You obviously got burnt by buyers in the past but don't take your frustrations out on me. I wasn't even arguing with you.

        • @CVonC:

FFS man. I stated it would be free, you stated that it wouldn't be at all, then I backed it up with the fact that it would be free if you were still under quota.

The point I'm making is that eBay don't credit you for a free listing when a purchase is cancelled, payment is not made or other reasons.

It's easy to use up your 40 listings in a month and when you run out you have to pay.

      • Better yet, just dont pay. A dick move, but its not like eBay actually punishes non paying winners anyway. You cant get negative feedback.

      • +1

You should always add to cart and put the code in not Buy it now.

  • Could have waited until some off us finished work at 9pm. By the time I got home and changed and plonked myself in front of my pc, BANG- finished. Not a happy camper! Will go elsewhere.

    • I had ~$1300 of stuff in my cart, after entering the coupon, went to change 1 item for another, put the coupon in again… Something went wrong… No more coupon.

  • +8

I was going to buy a phone with the 15% code couple of hours ago when I logged into Cashrewards and saw this stating the offer will expire tomorrow. So I decided to look for couple more things to buy for the phone (case, screen protector, etc) and when I was about to pay just now it says the code no longer works đŸ˜©. That page is misleading :(

    • +11

CashRewards says CRAZY was going to expire at 11:59pm (Saturday, 01 JUL 2017)

that was definitely stretching it and misleading.

      • +3

        That's indeed misleading!

and wtf is with eBay ending it at 9:21pm….I mean seriously?!?!?!

        • +2

yeah i thought we had till tomorrow. Damn you cashrewards!

        • -4

          @mobo:

yeah i thought we had till tomorrow. Damn you cashrewards!

What does cashrewards have to do with eBay? If you want accurate information go to eBay.

eBay have a long history of killing codes early.

Not only but it says in the deal description that this can end early and on eBay in the terms and conditions (that clearly most people have never read but they have plenty of time to complain) it states "This offer is available for a limited time only, for as long as it is advertised by eBay on www.ebay.com.au (“Offer Period”)."

The negative votes have started, clearly people that can't handle the truth.

        • @mobo:

          Yes, damn you CR!

      • I saw it too yesterday and I was lucky that my item was only one, so I decided to buy it yesterday.
I have heard complaints about eBay ending promotions prematurely before, so I wonder if this is the case and they had told Cashrewards it would end today.

  • +1

eBay: Random Promotions and random expiry!

  • ahh crap….. just thought of something to buy from ebay and its expired :(
    bummer

    • Literally the same, eh. 10% is still eligible on the item I bought. close enough haha

      • +3

You're not a true ozbargainer if 10% is close enough to 15%!

…. I'm going to use the treat coupon too… just spewing that I was too slow! I have to keep my cart filled with crap.

  • +2

well, when I try to buy items at 10pm no more 15% code, cant they just end it on 2359?

    • +3

Same here. I have actually just finished work at 10pm central, and was planning to buy a few things before midnight, to only realize it has already expired. Well, maybe that's for the better.

  • Sad sad sad. Had my cart ready, took a gamble, went to work to finalise goods to be ordered but it's all over!

  • That's bull crap time to close the deal, thought gonna check out after a dinner, came back it expired! FU ebay! YOur loss!

  • yeah gonna not buy the crap I filled my cart with in protest.

  • +12

You snooze you lose. Everyone had a whole month with promotions and discounts nearly every single day.

It was an awesome June on EBay, I spent thousands and saved hundreds. Plenty of items in the post on their way here.

    • +4

Agreed. I've never been waiting for so many eBay purchases to arrive than right now. Hundreds saved. I missed out on the 15% off tonight by 8 minutes, but I still went through with 10% off as it was only an $88 cart.

The only problem is now I won't be buying anything on eBay for ages…

    • People that used the 10% off only to find out there's a 15% off now available: Too bad! Good things come to those who wait!

People that waited to see if there was a 20% discount and those who missed out because eBay pulled the promo early: Too bad! You Snooze you lose!

  • Damn!!!! This bites. I just had $600 dollars of Blu-ray anime in my cart and now it's finished.

    • +3

well, you just saved 600, like I have 900 in my cart. I won't buy anything from ebay until I see 15% next time.

  • Hoping for a random 20% off short duration code to be thrown our way! giggity giggity goo …

    • It's still 20% of at TGG (CGOOD)

  • +2

Not sure why everyone is losing their minds - tightarse stated quite clearly 13 hours ago "eBay has set no expiry on this offer. It can be withdrawn at any time without notice. It may not even go beyond today."

  • Wow I was just going through check out and realised the code expired already!

    • Try TREAT for 10%

      • Doesn't work :\ ordering camera lens

Guess I won't buy from ebay then.

        • C5OZ works though. Only 5%.

        • @joedingy: Try "cozzie"

  • +2

Baffling how people have to voice their displeasure at a company that doesn't have to give you ANY discount for any reason, let alone as many times as they do in a year (and in this case, month). You literally had so many chances at scoring a sweet discount or five this month (in my case, paid almost $300 of their own money for MY items this week alone). Good guy eBay.

    • They have no obligation but thats how this company is making money and does marketing and stands till this day!
Whats wrong is i have committed my self to buy many things on ebay with this code as i belived it was supposed to expire on midnight and now that i wanted to pay it was already expired i spent my whole day on choosing and buying what i need today and it was all for nothing because these monkeys are playing with us.

      • +3

TA specifically stated that this promo would be pulled at random.

It took me a whole of 5 mins, maybe less from reading this post to filling a cart and checking it out. That's what watch lists on eBay are for. You fill it up in your spare time, and when a sale comes around, or the prices drop - you buy items from it.

You have no one to blame but yourself for missing out and the same goes for any one else who snoozed and lost, despite being warned.

Keep negging me for actually reading TA's post and applying his warning if it makes you feel better, though.

        • +3

Keep negging me for actually reading TA's post and applying his warning if it makes you feel better, though.

It's pretty lame that the people who can't read and think that they are owed something are the first to complain for what is their failure whereas everyone just gets on with it.

They're unable to read or learn from past discounts on eBay but they seem to be able to use the negative vote button.

    • +5

      Exactly.

The deal even clearly stated it could be pulled anytime, which is EXACTLY why I didn't wait and pulled the trigger early.

      Jeez.

  • Ebay has form for this kind of thing. Best to get in early

Ebay has really kicked itself in the nuts with their promotions. They come out looking worse. Seriously besides pissing people off what does it achieve not to have a set time period for the coupon?

    • +1

I'm guessing that you don't budget and the company you work for doesn't budget and you just have pots of gold which refill automagically?

Clearly this offer had limitations, who knows what they were but it might have been $1 million or similar and they were hopeful that this would keep it going longer but once they reached whatever limit they pulled the plug. They don't need to tell anyone the limit and neither would they ever as this would indicate sales volumes on ebay however many people don't use the codes that are available when they purchase so this is a hard one to ascertain.

  • Waiting for Amazon instead…

    • +2

Thanks for letting us know, but I bet when there is another coupon code you'll be all over it like a fat kid on a smartie.

      • Nope haven't bought anything and not going to unless there's a 20% off code..

        • +1

          I assume your BMI's under control then…

For those that missed out - here's a bit of my story with eBay yeaterday- when I was making my purchases this morning I had to leave some items out as I was still bidding at auction to combine shipping and the auction would not end till Sunday.

    First tip:

I have multiple purchases in my cart with different currencies. You can't pay and use the code across multi currency purchases as the code is a one time use code. (I purchased goods in AUD,GBP and USD)

The only way to receive the 15% off for everything was to call eBay and I purchase everything at full price and they refund the 15% to my paypal account. I paid for them immediately and she waited and then refunded the 15% to my paypal account (takes about a week). To confirm the conversation she provided a reference number. She warned me this morning the code was going to expire very quickly.

With one lot of items I had to leave the 15% discount as the seller will combine shipping only once I finish all my bids. If I paid for the items won so far they have to ship next day so can't combine shipping.

When I spoke to the operator at eBay about this she advised me that there are still a lot of promotions over the next few weeks so it is possible to still have some savings.

So, tip 2. Keep your carts full and active and your eyes and ears on ozbargain and eBay and watch out for more codes!

I have no affiliation with eBay apart from being a very active shopper and seller! (When your feedback is in the thousand+ territory you know it's too far gone!) ;)

    • +1

Yep, They did a similar thing for me no questions asked. I had to pay full price for a 1,250- item and they have now applied a 15% credit on my paypal account. I committed to the purchase 5 minutes before before the code expired but didn't get to pay in time.

  • +1

Having carefully developed and implemented a strategy earlier in the day, i managed to save an additional 85% on the listed price.

Yes, that's how good i am.

    • Wow! All the effort to post this and no mention of your "strategy".

      • +2

        I think he means he didn't buy anything - ie 15% + 85% = 100%

        • +2

Pfft. He could have done better.

      • +1

Actually at 2am that was a bit of an effort.

Just didn't buy anything, tis all…

        • -1

1 am for me, up at 6 am. I got the joke, just worded poorly. Now back to bed.

        • Though i did spend about an hour checking out watches using the search bar … i know that sounds like bs, but it's actually true.

  • Well, last night I was gonna buy a MacBook Pro from Myer eBay. Was just about to checkout and saw the code expired. I think I felt the same as all those who missed out. I found officeworks selling the same thing for $14 more than the eBay discount. Was about to pull the trigger and realised it was last year's model - I thought the deal was too good to be true! Maybe it was better that I missed out :P

    • Read up a few comments. Could be more to come…

      • the 'more to come' could be very specific to sellers or categories, e.g. Home Garden, Kitchen Appliances, etc. or GraysOnline only, etc.

eBay has really ramped up its category-specific sales (and i'm sure they've improved the seller's tools to encourage this too, e.g. increasing prices, adjusting/refining multiple listings) because i noticed during these recent sitewide sales that items were being increased in price, as soon as it was apparent sales were more than normal.

site-wide coupons are not that common these days and the 20% off coupon is beginning to look like a unicorn now.

        • Many of my purchases are from sellers overseas who list in Australia. They don't tend to play with prices so much and often they are cheaper than Aussie based sellers. The only drawback from this is the shipping time. However if I'm going to pay $50+less for the same thing from a genuine authorised seller overseas then I'm more than happy to wait! :)

  • +1

Uhm … missed out … waiting for another code :-p

    • There is already a new one! This morning my microwave stopped working and I was fuming because all the sales just stopped (just my luck I thought) but I found a new code 10% off and it worked perfectly. Not as good as 15% off, but still good, particularly because I thought there would be no new code so close after the other June codes.

Wow what a month. Truly unprecedented. Hopefully it becomes the norm? Haha. Thank you ebay. Wish they would spread out the discounts though instead of hitting us so hard in one go.

  • +3

Contacted ebay and complained that i committed to buy the products only for their offers and they gave me 300$ back to my ebay account cheers ebay

    • yup same happened to me. On the night i sent feedback saying the code didn't work. Ebay rep offered to credit my paypal.

    • was it a "we will fwd your request to our refunds/promotions team?" or an instant cash back?

      • 'd like to inform you that normally vouchers are non-refundable. But, we’ll honour the discount that you haven't redeemed as a one time exception since you already made the purchase during the offer period. We will submit a request to our Marketing and Promotions Team. The credit worth AU $294.25 will take 5-7 business days to your PayPal account with email address **********

        • Yup I am in the same boat. I had one about 15 days ago I am still waiting on, will keep you updated.

  • Anyone who has credits coming from ebay/paypal, please post here if you have received them / when you received them. I have around 5 credits waiting in the 15-20 day window (first initiated on June 15th).
    Would be good to track.

  • Okay when is the next 15% off deal… i have items on my watch list that I want to actually buy this time around!…. or was this big a shake up to get the most amount of sales for eBay before the fin year closed up :-/

    • Yes, i am looking forward to the next 15% off deal too. Hopefully its not a long wait ahead !
