  • What makes it a fantastic mouse?

    • -2

      The price…

      • +2

By that logic, this mouse would be 10 times better?

    • +1

has a really good sensor in it, and lots of (well placed) programmable buttons.

I don't have this mouse myself, but it comes very well recommended. if I wanted a wired mouse, this is the one I would have got.

      • +2

I have the G502 Proteus Core (exactly the same but only one colour LED) at work and just purchased a Proteus Spectrum for home.

I have been using the G500 and its variants for about 5 years now and it's by far the most comfortable series of mice I've ever had. I love them.

Hard to explain exactly why - I turn off most of the "profiles" and other features and just use it as a basic mouse, but even in my configuration it does some nice stuff - you can hold a button to slow down mouse movement for sniping (or for work!) and you can unlock the scroll-wheel and fling your way through long documents.

I seriously can't recommend this mouse enough and at $60 it's well worth it.

    • If you doubt the god-like value of this mouse then watch the cinematic superhero movie that Logitech produced, it will make your fingers tingle.

    • +4

It's OK there are better mice out there.
at this price it's worth it though i would urge someone to consider the G403 at Harvey norman for $47 which has less buttons and weighs less and feels great in the hand compared to this.

at these prices both are worth it.

    • It's the best gaming mouse I've had/used. It is suitable for my hand size and grip style, but it is quite low profile compared to other mice, so it is not for everyone. Don't be fooled by features such as extremely high DPI and ability to toggle DPI on button hold. I only ever use the mouse at ~2400 DPI. The middle middle (scroll wheel) has about the right amount of pressure requirement. This mouse does have the free scroll toggle which comes in handy sometimes. Not sure why Logitech does not include this feature in some of their newer mice. After several years of use, my mouse can still pass for new unlike my previous Logitech mice which discolor and the rubber goes sticky over time.

    • The sensor it uses is one of the best.
The size/fit for my hand is perfect, YMMV (obviously only for right handed users).
I find the weight to be quite ideal, it can also be made heavier using the included weights.
The primary left/right mouse buttons have a nice even actuation and the thumb buttons aren't bad either.
The Logitech software used to program it allows a broad range of customisation options and is user friendly.

  • copped. thanks op

  • I got this mouse about 2 months ago, so far so good. If you flick the scroll wheel like me it can be fairly noisy but otherwise no complaints at all. Came from a Roccat Kone XTD.

  • Top tier mouse.

    Fits my (larger) hand perfectly.

Three thumb buttons are super good, the two index button's I don't use as much.

The Middle-left and Middle-right clicks are SUPER handy. Binded both of those to just do a regular middle mouse click since the regular middle click is pretty heavy.

Infinite scroll is surprisingly useful (Basically a built-in fidget spinner)

Good sensor, three modes, comes with adjustable weights, rgb light.

    9/10 would recommend

    • Any idea if the infinite scroll works well with Mac's kinetic/momentum scrolling?

Looking to replace my (horrible, and now non functioning) Magic Mouse, but really don't want to go back to chunky scrolling…

      • Sorry, no clue on the Mac scrolling.

I guess with a physical scrollwheel it probably won't work as expected, you might end up a tad disappointed if it's important to you.

I feel like that type of scrolling is better saved for touchpads/magic mice. Personal preference I guess

this or the MSY $29 gaming mouse on special?

    • +2

Get the msy mouse. You know that you want to be different to the others :D

      • lol

      • HHaHahahH legit though, any comparisons?

  • +3

Its $63 at JB - Probably could price match..

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/platforms/gaming-mo…

    • Considering JB now owns TGG, I would say that's definitely possible.

  • This or the MX Master? I am using the G602 now. Mainly used for AUTOCAD AND 3D.

    • MX Master seems to be a better option for your case

    • +1
    • MX Master: Wireless, also has the horizontal thumb scroll wheel if that makes a diff. The infinite scroll on MX Master is smoother and silent compared to G502.

G502: Just picked this up, so little experience with it, but I like that it's wired. I use the MX Master at work, and although convenient to recharge with micro-USB cable, battery only lasts maybe 3-4 weeks. (Unlike the older Performance MX which lasted 6+ months on 1x AA)

    • +2

Without knowing AUTOCAD/3D workflow, for general office use I'd say MX Master for sure. G502 will be better for gaming, but MX Master for work productivity (I'm sure the thumb wheel will come in handy for autocad/3D stuff).

Although, FWIW, G502 has 3 extra programmable buttons (or 5 extra buttons, but one less scroll wheel) - so if having more buttons is more useful for AUTOCAD/3D (for setting presets or something), then the G502 may suit better.

If you run multiple machines simultaneously on your desk, you may want to wait for the MX Master 2S (for the Logitech Flow feature, to seamlessly switch between machines). But otherwise just grab the MX Master: the increased battery life and sensor DPI in the 2S is probably unnecessary for desktop work use - the MX Master is fine as it is. The MX Master 2S is really just an incremental "if it ain't broke" upgrade, unless you specifically want Logitech Flow.

FWIW, I have G602 at home for gaming and MX Master at work.

  • Fantastic mouse. Can't say much about the sensor since I don't game as much as I used to, but the macro function is very useful for general use.
It's not as comfortable compared to my previous mouse (Roccat Kone Pure Military), but that's due to my grip style. Plus the Roccat is more expensive and has less buttons, although the macro works slightly better.

  • Is there a decent mouse but around the $30 mark that people can recommend?

  • anyone know of a good keyboard and mouse combo from goodguys?

  • +1

Just get a bunch of $4 mice on ebay , then decide which out of the "how many you buy" is the best, and they you go, The best PC mouse
