You don't need extended warranties.
You are already protected under the Australian Consumer Law for the reasonable life of the product.What if you want to be covered beyond reasonable life?
There is no warranty in existence that would cover beyond any expected life.
I would reasonably expect an automatic coffee machine to work for 5-10 years.
It is called insurance beyond that.
@frugal investigator:
You and me would but not the company
Also depends on price you paid for it
And wear and tear (eg seals)rather than major failure
What are you options?
Fair trading- can't enforce if company does not cooperate
Tribunal-$60 fees and Waste of day
That's offset from the month or 2 gone without coffee while fighting
If you know you going to thrash a product eg 10 coffees a day then $100 for 4 yrs extended warranty seems a good hedge IMO@Peanut money:
Firstly watch the video, it gives useful information.Secondly read the following to know your rights:
https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…"Your rights under the consumer guarantees do not have a specific expiry date and can apply even after any warranties you’ve got from a business have expired"
The link also has a full section on repairs like say with seals on the coffee machine.
The more Australians that assist each other with these issues - the better. I don't agree paying when you don't need to.
@frugal investigator:'reasonable' seems a bit ill defined wouldn't you think?

Consider TGG's gold concierge service for extended warranty. It's far better than HN, because they give you store credit a few times a year, which pays for itself.
I've had one for approximately 6-7 years, never had a boiler issue but occasionally the internal plunger can seize up a bit causing irregular grinds, easy to fix, remove mechanism, rinse, put a little grease on the plunger and it's good for a few years more. Haven't descaled in 4 years but use filtered water.
I think my power button is starting to fail but after daily coffee for 7 years I can't complainSo is the S version better as it has been around thid price before ?
S = Silver, B = Black
Looks like a totally different model

Yeh dif
Best value automatic machine. Decent coffee and actually froths milk okay.
Recommend extended warranty on these: boiler tends to seize up every 3 years or so. Had two with same issue despite regular descaling
