  • Thanks for the deal. I've been looking for a small and light camera like this.

How does this compare to the camera in say a Google Pixel?

One is a phone, the other is a camera 😐

Phone camera is better than this

    • Really, which phone camera would that be then? Maybe video recording to a degree yes, in some areas like pixel count and smooth frame rate.

      • +3

Most high end smart phones or even mid range phones with OIS are better in most departments except optical zoom. Sensor sizes are relatively the same between smart phones and point and shoots these days.

Most high end smart phones or even mid range have faster apertures ranging from f/1.8-2.2 to let in more light. This camera at the wide angle starts from f/3.3 at the Wide to f/6.3 at the tele end. Not ideal for low light, but if its bright and sunny its no problem.

Where this camera wins is in the optical zoom area but you have to be in decent/good light conditions to get good exposure since its slow aperture (f/6.3) and small sensor isn't ideal for low light shooting. Some mid range phones don't even have OIS so there's another plus for this camera, but phone camera's have fast shutters to compensate for the lack of OIS.

Its tough to recommend any point and shoot in general other than high end ones like the RX100 and G7Xii or indestructible ones for adventure since smart phones have already replaced most point and shoots and surpassed them in almost every way.

        • agree.

I can only see usage of these cameras is when kids going for a school trip, they can not bring mobile phones.

        • Thanks for your detailed explanation to educate me and others on here about compact camera V phone camera.

I thought lens and optical zoom combo was still better than mobile phone software tuning except for top end flagship phones.

Still think taking scenic shots without optical zoom is hard on any phone without zoom.

    • I've yet to really see a phone camera with an actually useful optical zoom.

  • CCD? Is it a typo?

  • nice price with Zeiss lens but no Wifi or NFC kill the deal.
