Thanks to DEvok commenting his one says 5,000 bonus points which got me investigating. So here's a little present my dear friends - an upgrade to my previous unpopular deal.

Now you can grab x2 the bonus points as before (yes! 5,000 points = $25 worth). Unfortunately I do not know what's the deal end date so get in fast as it may get shut down due to high demand. Bonus points to be added within 10 business days.

Let's see if this deal can get x2 the positive votes as the deal before

Please refer here for error messages as it may be a browser issues as previously discussed on similar deals.

We made the deal popular! Thank you everyone. I would also like to thank my arms for being by my side and my legs for supporting me.

      • Email was for account opened at start of this deal. "Thanks for joining" email was sent 08:30 23/6 (36 minutes after deal posted).

My assumption is new cards will be reissued progressively to everyone issued a card recently (ie in this deal). We will see.

Was surprised no one else posted about the email as it indicates something is happening…

        • I have a feeling that this potential "hack" was internal instead of someone just figuring it out and randomly trying numbers. So they know exactly which batch of numbers (the ones with 20 bucks) to try and use. Otherwise they would need to replace all the numbers instead of the new ones, since they will all be comprimised.

        • @garratt torlesse:
It would not have taken much effort to write code to add many thousands of EDR card numbers to Woolies Money app & extract those with Woolies Dollars available. These $20 amounts were too tempting & easy pickings.

I realised that the first time I used Money long ago. But I didn't know then a card could be produced in an app to scan the same as the real card. OzBargain taught me that trick (for my own use). Anyone reading this deal could have learnt how to remove the credit from the cards with a bit of coding.

That's likely why the EDR part of the Woolies Money app has been offline for a while.

        • @Infidel:

I know, but if they brute forced it, it would mean ALL cards are comprimised and not just the 5000 point ones.

Maybe the 5000 point cards are just the first ones to get re-issued?

        • @garratt torlesse:
The 5000 point ones were the most tempting & were a rich seam to mine. Older cards may not be so lucrative for more work.

As most had to wait for cards to be delivered before Woolies Dollars could be redeemed, there was an opportunity to use them undetected days before delivery. For most users, the money couldn't be redeemed before being stolen, unlike cards in regular use.

Also because many were obtaining these cards against Woolies t&c, there was less likelihood of complaints being lodged that would uncover theft.

    • Strange that they replace your EDR card even though you did not lodge any complaint. Can't imagine WW replacing all exisitng EDR cards. Just curious - what bonus points did they load onto your new card for "your patience and inconvenience" ?

      • Entering new card number at login takes me to same account details with old card number & same points. So can't say yet.

    • I just got one of these today as well. I didn't even lodge a complaint. So we'll see what will happen.

      • +1

yeah same. didn't get it for my primary account though. good thing I already redeemed my $20.

    • Registered another EDR card for family member 4 days after first - just got same email for it. Did not complaint, new card on its way.

  • Any news re new bonus points for compromised accounts?

    • Woolies never said these new cards are anything to do with compromised accounts. Just "Due to a system upgrade, we will need to re-issue your Woolworths Rewards card, with a new card number."

My new Woolies Rewards card arrived today - no Bonus Points, so have complained online including quotes from their email.

      • :(

      • Did you receive any reply from them?

        • +1

Not yet… They've got 52 more hours to respond.
Your email has been successfully delivered and we aim to respond to your enquiry within 72 hours.

        • @Infidel:

Either that or they aimed too high and will just simply apologize to you for the inconvenience caused.

        • @Infidel: I emailed them as well a week ago but have heard nothing, any joy Infidel?

        • @lookatthesizeofthat:
          Nothing - will call.

        • +1

@Infidel: I'll do the same, meet you back here shortly, lol.

        • @lookatthesizeofthat:
Maybe not - with your username ;-)

        • @Infidel: haha! So i got my bonus points but my partner got zero points and they refused to do anything.

  • Has anyone gotten any " bonus" points yet for the re-issue of cards? I know it said 7-10 business days. Which means the deadline would be the 25th of August. I'm just Curious if anything else has been added to anyones?

Got my new card in the mail, new number, but the apps don't recognise it being a valid WWR card.

  • I got the 'bonus' points today, 500 points applied on August 23rd. When and how many points did others get? Comparison time my friends.

    • 500 points aswell

  • Just got 500 points on mine as well. Doesn't make up for the 5,000 ( when 4,000 of it was taken by someone else.)

After complaining through my Woolworths Rewards account on 17/8 about unauthorised use of my card in Sydney ($20 spent) & no bonus Points. Finally got response this morning…

Took 9 days to reply rather than 3 days their automated response suggested. But I thought an investigation of fraud would delay response. Happy with response.

Thank you for contacting Woolworths Rewards regarding your $20 discount redemption issue.
I am sorry to hear that you were not able to avail the $20 discount as the same was already redeemed and sincerely apologise for inconvenience this may have caused.
I am happy to confirm that I have investigated this on your account and credited 4000 reward points equivalent to $20 discount on your Card number as the joining bonus.
Further, due to the recent replacement of card the automated system has already topped your account with 500 bonus rewards for the inconvenience you has faced.
All you need to do now is to scan your rewards card on your next shop after 24 hours from now and the $20 discount will be automatically redeemed once the shop is completed.

Points are now correctly showing in account on Woolworths Rewards:
    5536 POINTS (original 5000pts + bonus 500pts + 36pts from fraudulent purchase)

    Activity shows:
Manual Credit 22 August 500pts (5 days after complaint - manually added, not automated as claimed)
    Manual Credit 26 August 2000pts
    Manual Credit 26 August 2000pts
Fraudulent activity has been removed from record.

So complain if you lost your $20.

As has been added to new card number & Woolies Money App no longer shows Woolies $ or apparently updates card details, money on card should now be safe.

That's why I waited until security was improved before complaining. But card still lacks security of a PIN like FlyBuys cards. So improvement is still needed.

Haven't used old or replacement card as keep getting good offers on other Woolies Rewards cards for family 👪. Have $10 off $30 on 3 cards & $15 off $50 on 2 to use by Sunday. Another discount dilemma😁

    • URL for Woolworths Rewards live Chat please?

how did you complain to woolies, by Live Chat or email?
as i have poor english, could you possibly post some complain sample email or PM me with sample email, then i will do similar complain .

everyone should complain if we lost the $20!

      • Sent message from Woolworths Rewards account - click Contact. But a number of contact methods are available. Supply your details & card number.

Just said what had happened -
Someone has used my Rewards card in another State (a Sydney store). I did not visit that store or use the card. The $20 has been fraudulently used. Please investigate & return my money or points.

I used my $20 worth of points successfully yesterday😀

Your English is very good :-)
        Good luck & happy shopping.

  • Got a replacement rewards card in the mail today even though my account wasn't compromised. I had used up 4000 points on that but also got a bonus 500 for some reason. Not that I'm complaining. Anyway, tried to add this new card into the app and it says invalid lol.

The old card got deactivated and the new one gets active/linked when you make a purchase. I think that way they can ensure the points don't get used before the card arrives in the mail as a lot reported their credit being used before their initial card arriving in the mail
