Love me some wi-fi scales https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwyDCHf5iCY & then love sharing my personal info with shady profilers selling my data. https://yro.slashdot.org/story/14/04/18/2021205/how-nest-and… . It's all so convenient. I have nothing to hide, so giving away yet more data to filthy Spy Central is OK.

Body-fat scales without wi-fi infestations & centralised sharing of data are old hat…I wouldn't know what to do with that info.

    • cool story (not sure why the negs though)

      • -5

The negs are for the 99.99% of uneducated masses and associated vested interests. It lets me know they are out there, in huge numbers.

        • you have a smartphone boss?

  • Scales work great for Missus and her Fitbit Charge 2 band, all linked together without any hassles.

Batteries lasted about 8 months before replacing.

  • "Hello smart scale, how much do I weigh today?"
    "Go for a walk fatty!"

"…but upload your data to out website first, right after we expose your body to some nice harmless wi-fi. We want to track you and sell the personal information to…uh, I mean…this empowers you to conveniently track your fitness."

      • If you're worried about that you should stop using technology altogether immediately. EVERY bit of "connected" tech tracks you. While you where typing the above comment OZBargain, Google, Microsoft, your ISP and probably the CIA, NSA, and well as thousands of other trackers are keeping tabs on what you are doing.

Here's something else to worry about:

        https://arstechnica.com/security/2017/06/advanced-cia-firmwa…

        • That's a good approach. Just roll over, it's easier!

        • @kale chips suck:You totally (maybe deliberately?) miss-interpreted what I was trying to say. But, if it makes you feel better then stay away from bathroom scales.

@LoungeLizard: I don't mean to offend, but I don't agree I've misinterpreted your meaning at all. You stated "If you're worried about that you should stop using technology altogether immediately. EVERY bit of "connected" tech tracks you. "

There are many ways to use technology without being tracked or, if not that entirely in all cases, to obfuscate and resist such surveillance. Ie., not roll over.

Also, I don't think I have bathroom scales. I'd have to check.

Finally, again, I'm not trying to pick a fight or whatever - but I think it's important to realise that the use of tech doesn't imply an implicit surrendering of the right to privacy, no matter what Brandis and his cohort might want people to believe.

the fat % scale was very bad and inacurate.

    • Agree. The first weight is always at least 2kg heavier than subsequent trials. Have to do a few times every time then delete the first couple ones. Crap.

Yep!it is unbearable in winter..I normally take off all clothing when measure my weight. You can imagine how i feel in Sydney winter morning when I need to test 2 or 3 times to get my weight figure:(

And the battery dead for a while. After I changed for the new one, my body fat increased 4-5%, which made me wanna throw it away.

  • Very poorly reviewed scales, discount or not.

  • Aria back in stock.

  • Despite all the bad reviews on the Aria, it works fine for me

  • Thanks, but its shows 0 available.

    I missed it :(
