  • Any date on sale around 2018 Chinese new year I just wonder? Did quick search, it seemed all above $1000.

  • -1

will this guy be onboard the SYD-BEJ flight?

  • Hi rep - With the Syd->Taipei flights can we stopover HK (ie. exit the airport) on both legs?

    • Not the rep - but #11 in the T&Cs:

"Fares are based on a transit stop in Hong Kong only. An additional Passenger Departure Tax (approximately A$20) applies for each stopover in Hong Kong (a stay of more than 24 hours)."

So minimal (approx $20AUD) fee for stop over in HK, if more than 24 hrs.

      • awesome, thnaks @lina23!!

  • yah, i wanna know if stopover is allow..

  • thanks for sharing

  • Is this sale decent? I'm looking for flights to Taipei in Nov, but I'm not sure if I should wait more or just grab this. Any suggestion?

    • i'm wondering the same….looking at taipei in nov too :)

      • I ended up buying it. I'm not sure if it's cheap, but my dad said Taiwan flights are usually 1000+, so I booked it lol

Have you been to Taiwan before? Any suggestions?

        • +1

I bought it too. it's not dirt cheap but it's alright for my trip cos we are going to HK and taiwan - all for just under 1000 pp so it's not too bad…

Yea have been quite a few times it's very nice, i love it there. friendly people and nice food especially at the numerous night markets scattered around the country. I dont recommend taipei as it's just like sydney/HK (ie. big city). for sightseeing I would recommend Taichung (middle taiwan) or Tainan (southern taiwan) where you can see more countryside/locals way of life (read: less touristy/tacky)!

I'm hoping to go to tainan this time cos I've never been there…

          You wont regret it! :)

        • I think Taiwan is one of the most underrated travel destination in Asia. It's a beautiful country with lots of nice scenery and gosh their food varieties are amazing.

        • @tulalit: any suggestions of places I should visit? Even the ones that people don't usually go, but actually awesome? :D

        • @homersyd: oh cool, I will be 2 weeks there, hopefully I can squeeze the good places in hehehe… is 2 weeks enough time for first timer?

        • +1

@purplelady: Where are you heading? Kaohsiung is another city that you can go. I agree with @homersyd that Tainan and Taichung are great to visit as well. Word of caution: Taiwanese doesn't generally speak English.
          Hualien is also great one.

        • @tulalit: I'm open to anything really, since this is my first time there. Will Taiwanese accept broken mandarin? :P

        • @purplelady: Definately!!!! they are more than happy to help you with broken mandarin than not being able to communicate at all. Make sure you have google translate installed in your phone and make sure it's available offline too just in case :)

        • +1

@purplelady: 2 weeks is probably bit tight…unless you're single/young without kids and willing to run around the country like the amazing race lol

If I were you (first timer) I would just split my 2 weeks to focus on city (taipei) + countryside (tainan). Make sure you get the bullet trains from taipei to tainan to save time!

        • @tulalit: ok, will do. Thanks tulalit :) Taiwanese romanization is different to standard pinyin too, so I might get confused. Plus they use traditional chinese @_@ so yeah, will need google translate.

        • @homersyd: owww… okay, I thought I have plenty of time haha.. we;re all single without kids, but definitely not wanting amazing race holiday! We kinda had that in Japan LOL XD

Will check Tainan then. Thanks homersyd :)

        • @purplelady: no worries, have a great time! And who knows I might bump into you over there lol

        • @homersyd: yeah, who knows? Hahaha.. You too!
