I bought one in December, I'm no tradie but I think they are great.

    • Yep, bought it back then too. And a house. I'm very happy with them. Built a big shed with the bits. Very happy for twenty bucks, even just for the different sized nut drivers.

    Cable ties?

    • +4

      Includes
      81x 1” driver bits,
      25x 2” driver bits,
      7x non-magnetic nut drivers,
13 x Imperial HSS drill bits and
      1x 76mm stubby screw guide.

    • +2

      That one never gets old.

      • It's either cable ties or driver bits..

  • +21

The bits are made from cheese, but theres enough to last a while for home use.

    • +3

Parmesan should last longer than cheddar.

  • DOesnt seem like there are any masonry bits in here? Can anyone confirm?

    • +1

going by the heads, none are masonry

  • +9

I bought some other Ryobi drill bits when I bought some Ryobi drills. The bits aren't great quality. You're much better off buying a hand full of Sutton bits instead.

    • +6

Or better yet check clearance section each time you're in there. I have so many philips 2 / square 2 good quality impact driver bits and paid all of $10 for them. Have bought multiple packets of makita gold impacts (the long ones with the torsion sections) for ~$2 per set of 4. And I'm yet to break or damage a single tip on them. Also got loads of Irwin bits, same thing all on clearance. Got an entire carry pack (around 20 impact bits) for $3. Can't walk past a good bargain ahaha.

Will admit haven't seen any for a couple of months now, but I'm sure they will upgrade packaging again soon enough and be on sale once more.

This is a good set for someone who just needs a few bits and pieces..!

      :-)

      • +2

I thought you deserved an upvote for a good dad joke.

    • If you're drilling more than a few holes, especially into metal, you'll curse yourself if you have cheap drill bits.

I'm happy to use Sutton or Frost for general drill bits.

The only cheap drill bits I buy are the diamond tipped bits for drilling into porcelain tiles. Use them for 2-3 holes and then throw them out.

At $0.50 each, I'm happy to throw them away at that price.

My friend always recommended Sutton. I was drilling into an old trailer to install new LEDs, and my Ryobi bit did NOTHING. I went to Bunnings and got a Sutton bit, and it was like drilling through butter in comparison.

The deal in December was different, it was same price but 145 piece and didn't have any drill bits.

  • +1

yea i dont think you need that many screw driver bits. The drill bits are expensive if they are high quality, which doesnt seem to be the case

  • I always buy the most expensive drill & driver sets on the basis that the chances of good quality are higher than the cheap sets.

    • The Sutton Cobalt (Purple pack with a Rhino on the front) is probably one of the best sets in my opinion.

      • +5

I bought some Sutton drill bits the other day. I think they were about $30-40 for about an 8-piece set. Good quality. Better bargain than this one when quality is considered!

  • Ahh a worthwhile trustworthy Japanese brand, highly recommended. Gotta love that old samurai that add.

    • +7

Ryobi have not been Japanese quality for years. They source from any cheap place and also rebrand products from all over.

      • +1

Haha .. the buy was being sarcastic.

Nobody would really think this is good quality.

It is the same as the crap you can buy on eBay just with a more familiar brand label.

        • from the article you linked:

The Ryobi Tools brand in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand is owned by Techtronic Industries of Hong Kong, an original equipment manufacturer for brands such as Craftsman, Ryobi, and Ridgid.

Last I knew Hong Kong was part of China

        • @effgee:

Ryobi Limited (リョービ株式会社? Ryobi Kabushiki-kaisha) is a Japanese manufacturer of components for the automobile, electronics, and telecommunications industries.

        • +1

          @DEvok:

          I'm not denying that.

But these Chinese drill bits aren't automobile, electronics, or telecommunications, nor are they made in Japan.
They are marketed under the same 'brand' as those parts that may well be high quality, doesn't make them high quality

  • What's the normal price?

    • Probably first time offered in this combination so no normal price as yet.

  • +5

    It's a normal listed price!

  • +4

76+ votes for a normal RRP? Classic OzBargain.

    • +1

If Microsoft released their new Xbox for $50 RRP despite its specs, would you still have the same opinion? Didn't think so.

      • So is the next price up for a similar Drilling and Driving set priced at $120? There's nothing else between $19.98 and $120?

  • Anyone know if there are any three pronged bits in this?

  • Does it include any head?

    • +7

Yes. You can choose any one in bunnings to give you head

      • But they're either really old or really young.

      • +2

Head not available at Bunnings, Blacktown.

        • Been banned since your loads have been too fizzy Mr Fiza?

  • What's the normal price? Or this is the normal price and it just hasn't been in stock since last time?

As usual, way too much bit duplication to pad out the set (& make the total pieces sound impressive). No security bits at all. Nothing of that nature.

    • yeah on a closer look that's a lot of duplication. The freebie Ryobi bit set I got has a single duplicate of a couple of the driver bits, but this one seems to have 2-3 of almost every one in that set.

  • +4

No metric drill bits in this kit and only 8 out of 21 hex bits are metric.

    • Bang on. Really stupid. Only realised after I went in store. Nut drivers are all imperial

  • +5

Bought in December. Can't comment on quality as haven't used just like every other ozbargain purchase.

  • Whats the usual price for these then?

  • Anyone have experience with Ryobi 45 Piece Impact Driving Set?

  • This might have been in response to the Aldi special buy on Sat 24 (not on website yet, but you can find it in the catalogue). There's a $99 super set and other tool sets.

    • My Aldi doesn't give you the new catalogue till Wednesday of each week… How did you get the newest catalogue?

      • I was given it on Friday. Not my usual Aldi, just one I happened to stop at trying to find something and ended up buying a few 7 DayDeals.

  • Just purchased for $10. Thanks

    • That's more like it!

    • No you didn't… Unless there is something we don't know!?

      • If I new how to upload a receipt of purchase to your comment I would and would also except an apology for calling me a liar.

        • Well I do apologise, it's unusual for Bunnings to do that on a promo item and you didn't offer any details. Also it was definitely $20 at my local and nobody else has said they got it for $10.

        • @leTintin: Yeah I just thought they were ten dollars as it said on the packet the recommended retail was $20. Thanks for the apology mate.

        • @brock05: $10!! Fantastic! I can feel my nuts tightening already.

  • Imperial nut drivers - stupid. NO DEAL!

  • Reasonable price for a Chinese quality drill bit set. I've bought others for similar prices. A lot of people are fooled by thinking that Ryobi is Japanese quality which simply isn't true.

  • Only 13 small drillbits, hmm.

  • 2 out of 3 bikies recommended this product
