  • I don't get it.

Going to have to look this up. It's a thumb drive with 2 different USB connectors coming out of it right?

One end plugs into your phone whilst the other end goes to your computer so it can be used as a thumbdrive for both devices.

      • Oh okay, that's different. Thanks for explaining. Interesting. I don't personally have a need for one but it's nice to see something new out there.

Similar to rakeycakey's question, what happens if you plug both in at the same time - can it work as a shared drive, standard cable or just slowly melt? :)

If you plug both in at once you'll probably fry the device. I doubt they have any sort of protections for that.

@potplanty: nah I have this. It can charge your iphone too. I couldn't get it to watch movies on USB and charge though

      • No I don't think that's correct.

It's a USB type-C device only. It has a 128GB memory chip + USB pass-through to a type-A connector. So on the host device you can connect the 128GB flash storage AND another USB type-A device.

What happens if you plug both ends in at once? Does it work as a standard data transfer/charging cable?
    SO many questions

    • -1

You fry it. Doubtful they have protections for it.

    • +2

Yes its also a sync/charge cable. I have one.
Edit: Re-read it, so i have the Lightning/usb version, not usb C, but i can't see it working any differently, just a different connector on the end.

    • +1

Yes it works as a regular cable. For both data transfer and charging.

  • Any Gen 2 flash drives available yet?

  • I'm confused. Do you get two 128GB flash drives, one for each end?

If you plug both in at the same time, does it act as a passthrough to send files from one device to the other? Cable is very short, not sure what the use case is for this.

If it's just a pasthrough, you can use an OTG cable.

If it's a USB drive accessible by two devices at once, I have never seen such a thing and don't know why it would be useful. Two devices attempting to write to the same drive at once sounds like a file access lockdown nightmare.
