  • Omg, so cheap. Get rid of them before Scorpio haha

    • Completely wrong. Scorpio is not a replacement.

      • -1

That's what Microsoft makes us think so they can off load the remaining Xbox Ones

        • -4

You really think a console that will probably be over $800, will replace a $299 console anytime soon, your crazy.

        • @PainToad:

XBox One X announced, release date Nov 7th at $649 AU.

That's twice the price for being able to play the same games but on a 3 to 4 times more powerful console, with UHD player and liquid cooling.

If you have a 4K TV, I'd suggest waiting.

        • +5

          @FabMan:

$649 vs $299. Still two completely different markets. The Xbox One S is going no where.

$649 for the hardware is great value. But many people (myself included) would never spend that on video games.

        • @PainToad: I agree, but I checked and in Nov 2008 PlayStation 3 launched at $829 and $999 and was pretty popular.

Thing is, there was no cheaper PlayStation 3 alternative like there is now with XBox One S.

        • +1

@FabMan: Really, I seem to remember that PS3 sales faltered until Sony cut the price a few times.

        • @FabMan: Ps3 sales at launch were disastrously bad, it wasn't till major price cuts that sales picked up. having said that this mid gen console upgrade is not intended for everyone, it is for those that want a 4k experience and the extra perks of faster load times and slightly improved 1080p performance as well. If you are in that niche it is a decent price otherwise the S is the better buy.

        • @gromit: @smartazz104:

Are you guys talking internationally or in Australia?

Checking stories online dated to 2007/2008 and from what I remember, in Australia it sold extremely well at $800+ with eBay scalpers selling them for over $1000 as people couldn't get hold of them.

If you are talking internationally, in the US it took off after a price cut in 2007 to $500. It then started selling very well and turning profit in late 2008. The PS3 $500 US price is the same price XBox One X will be at launch, but that was 2007/2008 and during the start of the Financial Crisis.

I'm not saying the XBox One X will sell well as there is an XBox One S available that will play the same games, the XBox One series doesn't have the same hit exclusives PlayStation has and PlayStation 3 was a cheap product for Blu-Ray player at the time. I'm just pointing out price history. I made a mistake in my post above using CNET as a resource, as it launched in Australia March 2007.

        • +1

@FabMan: don't misinterpret scalpers listing them at inflated prices as being anything more than wishful thinking/greed on their part. the launch was awful in Australia too. http://www.theage.com.au/news/games/crowds-go-mild-for-ps3/2…

        • @gromit: Cheers. I struggled to find much Australian specific information online but that I did stated consoles were hard to get hold of and scalpers had priced high. I can see the US sales pick up after it being priced at $500.

  • +14

    Disgustingly cheap! :D

    • +13

So cheap it makes me sick

      • Any catches on the terms of use?

        • +14

          You must use Australian currency

        • +7

Dammit! There goes my 4000 sheckels.
          :(

        • +2

@0p: I'd gladly trade your 4000 new shekels for 269 dollarydoos

        • Why don't you invest them in Eneloops?

        • At that exchange rate, no thanks…

  • Damn it I paid $289 at JB and thought that was a good deal… Didn't even get Fallout 4.

  • Watch E3 Xbox prices drop even more. Big bundles in clearance for scorpio.

    My guess anyway.

    • I think America is getting a $50 price cut from 2mrw on all bundles, don't know if this applies to the rest of the world

      • +1

I am going to guess it will. Im guessing they'll want to establish a better playerbase on xbox one by making the One S cheap in prep for scorpio.

IMO, if I were MS, I would make multiplayer free, and increase the game with gold bonus. I think that would bring a lot of players to Xbox.

  • Wow best deal so far. I got mine in December at Harvey's for 299. But amex had the buy 300 get 100 back offer. Obviously that wasn't for everyone, so this is great.

  • +2

    Ripper deal

  • Lucky i already got rid of mine!

    • +2

I sold mine and thought this would be good but the prices for xbone windows 10 games on the windows store are ridiculously high and never drop by a decent amount. Add to that they are only available on their store so they have no reason to discount either.

      • -1

they cant discount digital games to be cheaper than what stores sell them for because stores will simply stop selling games AND consoles and they dont want that to happen. its not their fault.

        • +2

They could discount the digital xb1/windows 10 codes sold in retail stores but they refuse to do that either, don't make excuse for them.

        • -2

@andigaming: I gave you the exact reason that discounts dont happen, not my problem you don't believe the truth….

it's up to the stores to offer discounts off RRP

        • @wingwang: Just like playstation reducing 12 months of Playstation Plus to $48.95 at all retail stores and their playstore at the same time?

        • unless they bring other esd stores to xbox which wont happen

        • …because stores will simply stop selling games AND consoles…

That's a ridiculous reason and doesn't make any business sense at all.

      • +1

Windows Store is a joke compared to steam. Couldn't play Gears4 this weekend cause wants a 30GB patch. Only wanna play single player, can't refuse the patch, can't defer it, can't play without it.

    • +1

You're missing 1 requirement of having to own a gaming PC.
A lot of people don't even own desktops anymore.

    • +1
      1. You will need windows 10.
      2. PC gamers have been begging for Halo (which was originally on PC anyway) Forza (which is better than many other racing games on PC) and Gears for PC for a long time.
      3. It is still, on a console basis, exclusive to Xbox. If a playstation fan wants to play FH3, they'll either need to build a gaming PC with windows 10, or buy an Xbox one. Win-win for Microsoft.
      4. As a PC gamer, I still play Xbox exclusives on Xbox. Why? Because many of us PC gamers hate dealing with the microsoft store.
    • Yeah not all games, sorry. Plus not everyone has a gaming PC.

  • +4

One S has just had a $50 USD price drop officially, you ain't seen nothing yet

    • +3

      Only for 1 week

    • Which is $199 USD. I doubt it would go below $250 in a bundle.

  • Pity it's not another game instead of that Stan crap

    • Could just as easily be another game thats crap though.

      • You can trade a crap game though.

  • +1

Any other gaming bargains in that catalogue OP? Xbox controllers for $69 is alright.

    • +2

Updated in the description with the Xbox one controllers and the 2DS XL bundle, but that is about everything on offer!

      • Cheers mate!

    • +1

      69 is alright.

      I'm sure it is.

  • If Xbone has some sweet new announcements at this e3 I might finally bite

    • +1

      They don't.

  • Crazy deals, they did something similar this time last year in preparation for the release of the S console (it's how I got my current 500gb machine). I don't see myself upgrading to the S or what the next console (Scorpio or whatever they rename it) in the near future, need a 4K tv first. I actually got a second controller a few months ago, the white one is pretty cool.

    • Technically it's the Xbox One X, personally I think Scorpio sounded better myself. But, for the money it should be a pretty beefy console.

      • +1

Scorpio was not able to be trademarked.

        • Oh. Thanks for the reply, I had no idea.

        • @Jawanzar: They also always seem to work with code names during developement stages.

          DirectX Box: Xbox
          Xenon - Xbox 2: Xbox 360
          Durango: Xbox One
          Scorpio: Xbox One X
Natal: Kinect Motion sensitive control system.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Microsoft_codenames

        • @Gravy:

Thanks for the link; I knew about the weird pseudonyms, but in the case of Scorpio I think the name should have stuck.

  • +1

Now that's a good deal, I still prefer my Wii U tho <3

    • +1

Wii U honestly has more games if you only want exclusives.

      • +2

I have one Wii U downstairs for the TV and one upstairs in the bedroom so I can take it with me when I go take a dump, it's great playing mario kart while taking a shit.

        • +1

The switch let's you dump and play on the go

        • +1

@FrugalShopper: Switch needs time to develop and might be worth it with a new revision and price drop. In it's current state I believe Wii U is the superior console.

        • While not take your gamepad to shit leaving Wii U where it is?

        • @FabMan: What?

        • @SilentBob:

Why not take your gamepad from downstairs with you while you shit instead of having two consoles?

Not sure what I wrote before, kinda one of those things that make sense in the head somehow.

        • +2

@FabMan: The range for the gamepad to console isn't that great so the connection doesn't make it in a big 2 story house with thick walls.

        • -2

@SilentBob: Could it not work with a cheap repeater? I know you have your solution, but that could work.

        • -2

          @FabMan:

Maybe google your suggested solution before you go level expert on someone.

        • @turna: Thanks but I just asked, no expertise here. Thanks for condescending though

        • So you're using it in direct rebellion to manufacturer recommendations. You should hold out for the Poo U.

    • I want to get Donkey Kong Country 1,2 & 3, using virtual console. Virtual console on the Switch seems to be rather vague (or non existent at the moment), VC titles (for the moment) will require Wii U anyway?

  • -4

Sadly horzion dawn isnt part of xbox…zzzz.

  • -2

How much do u guys think Fallout 4 can be sold for on Gumtree? Or 3 month Stan sub may be? ;)

    • +2

Doubt anyone would want it but maybe 5-10 bucks? It's $20 at JB brand new.

    • Put $10 so you can get a $2 offer. That's generally how it is on gumtree

      • Yep. Gumtree straight up sucks these days unfortunately. It used to be pretty good, but no one takes it seriously anymore, or at least that's been my experience.

  • Just a thought, Like Coles gift card work at Target, is Woolworth gift card works at BigW?? In that case, we can save on e wish cards ??

    • Yes they work indeed. Plus if you got a family or friend work for woolies can apply their discount card as well.

  • Has someone got a screenshot of the catalog with the dates on it so I can price match at EB?

    • +3

I don't believe that EB match bundles

  • Good deal on the 2DSXL with the game. $10 less than retail plus the game free. (I think $29 now as part of the Selects range). Hope they put it up on eBay for 10% off too. Still not decided whether I need one since I have a Switch. Never had a 3DS etc, so a lot of good games to play.

And $65 for ARMS is $1 more than Target launch price, good competition going on and big discounts from RRP ($80)

  • If I previously purchased Xbox One S 500GB can I claim 28° price protection? or does the fact it is a bundle preclude that?

    • +1

      Sorry, you cannot claim that.

Price Protection does not cover a price reduction: … offered as part of a special deal involving other items or benefits.

  • Wish I could click and collect at woolies, my two nearest Big Ws are over 50kms away and in dodgy areas lol.
Does anyone know if Fallout has a day one patch or how big it is? I'm on limited phone data (9gbs a month, but can increase that by $3/4Gb on weekends. Would need to factor that in to the cost)
Also how big is the xbone s day one update now?
    Thanks for any help :)

    • Fallout 4 has an update size of around 2.3GB. That's for the original release.

I have a feeling that by updating you get access to mods and FWIW the unofficial Fallout 4 Patch is definitely worth downloading because it fixes a lot of bugs that Bethesda haven't.

  • Anyone know if the 3 months of Stan can be added to an existing subscription?

  • +1

You can also Afterpay it, making it like $68 a f/night if you dont wanna splash the $269 straight away!

    • How can you afterpay it if it's (for example) instore only?

      • +1

They dont provide a collect at store. So if you wish to afterpay, you'll have to pay the $9 or so postage for delivery.

  • +2

Thanks OP picked one up in store this morning for my son's birthday. Now to hope for a deal on an extra controller over the next couple of weeks. Cheers

    • Buy an extra bundle. Take that controller, sell console and games without controller in a couple of weeks for ~$220.
      Controller received for ~$49

    • Xbox One controllers are $69 in store (Save $20). Unfortunately they don't seem to have any online except for these special edition ones for $79 (save $10) - Controller 1 & Controller 2

  • +1

Thanks for the link. Snapped one up. Will be offloading the extras as I have those games and Stan already. Look out for a cheap XB1 on eBay :-)
